DAMASCUS ENTERPRISES

I am delighted with the quality of the work done by Damascus Enterprises. We had hired them previously for several smaller jobs, and been very happy with both the quality of their work and the pleasant, professional attitude of the employees. This was a far more extensive job, and it could not have gone more smoothly. Mike came to do an initial consultation about what we wanted. It was clear at the time that he was very knowledgable about our existing plants and shrubs. I wasn't sure if a large amount of the present plants needed to be replaced, but he pointed out that some simply exhibited their normal form, and others could be restored to a more polished appearance by an initial severe pruning, with follow-up shaping. Another landscaper I interviewed offered none of that information, nor the money-saving option of keeping the existing plants in place. I also liked his other ideas about the use of a granite block border, and combining the locations of two existing, above-ground drains, to reduce the number of drain cover locations. When the shrubbery was trimmed, which was the first stage of the job, I got the impression that all four of the men working were very familiar with how to do the job well. Also, Mike was present during most of that stage to oversee the process. The underground drains were installed with care to reduce the number of drain covers (even though they're quite small) in front of the house. The plantings in the front yard island were very well chosen for appropriate height, color variation, color coordination, textural contrast, and deer-resistance. As the plants grow, they will fill-in the bed beautifully. However, as happy as I am with the work already described, I have to say that I love the granite block border. It gives a polished, but warm look to the entire front yard. Scott, the owner of the company, actually designed a modification to an existing digging blade so that a more efficiently shaped trench could be dug for installing the blocks. For the completion of the island, Mike chose a blackish mulch that provides a fabulous contrast with the light gray granite border. All of the components together make the island a very appealing, eye-catching feature. The border around the other perimeter beds also helps to give a strong definition to the yard. The men who did the majority of the work of installing the granite block border were politely friendly and professional. At the end of each work day, they cleared the driveway with a blower. Our fairly extensive driveway had a lot of debris from a recent storm, and they kindly cleared far more of the driveway than their work had affected. That night, there was another storm, and the following day, they cleared most of the driveway for us, again. What great service! I would not hesitate to recommend Damascus Enterprises, and I will definitely hire them again.

They came to the house to look at the property and discuss what I wanted. The owner answered my many questions about how the system functioned and how I should maintain it. It took a while to get on their schedule because they had a lot of jobs. But on the appointed day, they arrived early and finished in one day. When I wanted adjustments to be made, they returned with no problem and completed it promptly. I am very happy with the result and would recommend them without hesitation.

They were very helpful and knowledgeable. They did a great job taking our ideas and making our property look great. We will be using their services in the spring as well.
