It was typical Mahon service - EXCELLENT!

We had a water main leak between the meter and our house. So I did my homework and called 3 companies including Mahon Plumbing. I called and spoke with AnneMarie who promptly gave me an appointment on 12/20 with a window from 12-4pm. Greg Mahon arrived approximately at 2pm, took at look at our problem and promised that I would have a written estimate before 12 noon the next day. As promised I received my estimate before 10:30 a.m. that day. The other company promised to drop off an estimate and the other company was slow to respond. Mahon's promptness in providing an estimate won my vote. I called and spoke to AnneMarie who then scheduled a date for the work. The workmen arrived on time at 8:00 a.m and continued their work throughout the day. All of the workmen were personable and professional. They completed their work at approximately 6:00 p.m. However they couldn't complete the patching for the sidewalk as it was getting dark and cold. They promise to return early the next day to repair our sidewalk which they did. I will say that they repaired it just like new. The best news of the day was that in repairing our leak they had to remove a panel of my husband's beloved knotty pine paneling in the basement. Let me say they did an EXCELLENT job in removing and replacing the paneling! With some very minor touches to the paneling and a keen eye one would never know that the paneling was ever disturbed! My husband was ecstatic over the workmen's care and consideration of his man cave!! The workmen were careful not to track dirt in house. At the job's completion the workmen took care to clean everything as well as neatly placing the straw over the newly seeded areas. This was a great experience from start to finish! Thanx so much to everyone from AnnieMarie(who was so helpful and patient), to Greg and his workmen. They made a stressful situation less stressful to which both my husband and I are truly grateful! I would definitely use them again for all our future plumbing needs and will recommend them to all of our neighbors and friends.

Called Mahon Plumbing on Wednesday December 26 for leaking water heater. Owner Greg came within a couple of hours to make an estimate and the work was completed the following day. I was given an appointment window of 12-4pm, plumber showed up around 2pm, calling beforehand to say they were on the way. Work was completed in about three hours. My basement was as clean as before they came when they finished. Workers were courteous and respectful, closing te door to the cold each time they went in and out. Very pleased with the responsiveness and overall experience. Angies list 10% coupon was honored

It was late in the day (about 8pm) when I discovered the leak and so there weren't many places still open. I saw that Mahon Plumbing had 24 hour emergency service and gave them a call. The serviceman, Mike, was on the line with someone else at the time so I left a voice mail and Mike called me back shortly after. I described the problem to him over the phone and he called me back with a quote from his boss. I've never had emergency service before so I wasn't sure what kind of price to expect. The price quoted was a little higher than expected, but since the leak was near the main shutoff valve, my other choices were either to not have water for a night (not an option due to girlfriend!) or pay for hotel. Mike arrived in a reasonable time, especially given the circumstances, and he was very courteous, friendly, polite, and professional. After cutting a small portion of drywall where the leak was, Mike went over with me what he recommended we do. He didn't mind me watching him work and even explained to me exactly what he was doing while he was doing it. The problem ended up being a crack in the water pressure regulator valve spewing out water. Mike didn't have a replacement with him, and explained to me what it did, and recommended just replacing it with straight-through piping. To remove the valve, he had to dismantle it due to space constraint. After finishing the work, Mike took the time to show me how the dismantled valve *should* work, and discovered that the valve was in fact not working properly.

Had a toilet that had backed up in the morning along with septic water welling up through a shower drain on the same line. Attempted to plunge on my own to no avail and was a bit concerned about the sewage in the tub. I decided not to chance things and called a plumber. I was able to get them booked for 4p-8p the same afternoon calling at 8:30am. The plumbers arrived at 5pm. Went right up to inspect the toilet and then to the basement to evaluate the drainage pipes. Flushed the toilet to confirm the back up, and then plunged it for ~ 1 minute. I'm guessing there was something inexpert about my plunging technique, because on about the 10th plunge, the drain unclogged. The guys ran the water in all the upstairs fixtures for a few minutes to confirm things were resolved. The plumber was courteous during the transaction and helpful with pointers. This is the first time I have had to call a plumber on a same day basis and was expecting a bigger (and needed) job, so failed to ask for an estimate (my fault). However, $350.00 for a 10-minute job that ended up being an expert toilet plunging seems exorbitant. I would consider these contractors for larger work where I have the luxury of taking bids; I would shop around the next time I have a smaller job.

We had a sewer line backup late in the evening. I tried calling 8 different plumbers & left messages to call me back first thing in the morning. Mahon called me back at 7am & promised to have someone to my home by lunch time (they were the only ones that called me that day before noon!). When Joe arrived, he talked me through all of the possibilities & got to work. After the service, he explained what he found & did. I would recommend this company to everyone, especially Joe! We will need toilets replaced soon & I will be calling them!

While the two plumbers were courteous and friendly, I am disappointed I wasn't given any options to consider for the type of faucet that I would receive as the replacement - it is a different brand and style from the original faucet and doesn't match the sink. That being said, I wouldn't have wanted to pay any more. I also assumed for that cost, it would be more than a 20 minute fix (not accounting for the time it took for them to buy the parts). Ultimately, I can't say it was a "bad" experience, because I have no basis for comparison. Time will tell whether the work was done well and if so, I'm likely to call them in the future.

Our outside water-line had been leaking for over a week while we tried to determine who to hire. We went with four estimates. The first was a very low price but the owner didn't list this type of work on his website as a specialty area and he only provided a verbal estimate, not a written one. The second estimate from a well-known company was very high. The third estimate seemed a reasonable price but at the end they began pushing us, saying the estimate was only good for one day and they recommended a higher priced full line repair (double the price) as opposed to the circumscribed repair. The circumscribed repair would not be guaranteed at all. We called our brother-in-law to see if we should go with the full water line replacement and he called his neighbor, a contactor, who said he always uses Mahon Plumbing. They came quickly and the estimate was provided with a comment that we should never feel rushed to make a decision with an estimate only good for a day. Mahon Plumbing gave two mid-priced estimates for both the circumscribed and full-line repair noting that they couldn't tell what would be required until they went in and looked but they thought it was likely only the circumscribed repair would be necessary. A circumscribed repair was guaranteed for three years and a full water-line repair was guaranteed for ten years. We were informed that the water company would reduce our water bill if we sent them a copy of the receipt and a water bill form that Mahon Plumbing provided, something no other company mentioned. For the repair, they came on time and the owner was there to ensure the project went smoothly. We were required to give a third down for the deposit. They used machinery to dig the hole, which was done quickly and efficiently and we were shown where the leak was occurring. They finished the circumscribed repair quickly, seeded, and covered the ground with hay. The remainder of the bill was paid at the end of the service. The price included a $300.00 dollar senior discount. Seven months later we remain very happy with the service and will definitely use them again! The owner and service desk were very professional and personable. The workers were friendly and considerate, letting us know when the job was completed.

Great. The plumber arrived ready for the job and solved the problem and installed the new part. He was very funny and pleasant and professional at the same time.

They had all the required equipment( no sub contracting) and took care of calling the utility company.Everything was done efficiently and as promised. I wanted same day service since we were out of water over a day and they were the only company out of 3 who could do this, fantastic for a job this size. Job was assessed within an hour of my call ,written estimate in 10 minutes, and the whole job was underway less then 2 hours later. Outside workers coordinated their work with the inside plumber seamlessly. Very polite staff from the office staff, the workers, and the owner who stopped by to inspect the job. Took care not to track dirt into the house. Cleaned up area and removed debris over and above the expected.

Work was performed and completed to 100% satisfaction. Greg, the owner, is who came out to do the estimate, and was very professional and courteous. AnnMarie, the office manager, was very helpful in scheduling the three visits and inspections (first visit to run the lines, second visit (after county inspection) to connect line to the generator, third visit to install and connect the final grill hookup for my deck). Joe was the plumber who did the work, and was very polite and friendly, and did an excellent job. Everything was done cleanly with no dirt or mess left behind. Cost wise, Mahon was extremely reasonable. I got a second estimate from another plumber, who ended up being $1,600 higher. I told the second plumber that I had a quote for the same work for that much cheaper, and they immediately dropped their price by $1,300. I told the second plumbing company that was crazy and why would I still pay them $300 more than Mahon after they just tried to sucker me for a higher quote. I have no regrets with my decision to use Mahon, and will gladly recommend them to others and call them for any future plumbing needs.

The technician was very courteous and professional and knowledgeable. He showed us how to correct other potential problems that might occurs and took car of the problem. The person the telephone was very professional as well, Highly recommended They showed up on time, were courteous of our house and performed the work expertly and quickly.

The owner came out and did the estimate himself. He was very straightforward and easy to deal with. I had the estimate by that afternoon and the job scheduled within a week. I appreciated the fact that before he entered my house he introduced himself and told me why he was there. Then he took his shoes off...nice touch. The technician came out and was on time. He completed the job with no issues. He used drop clothes and cleaned up after himself. He was friendly and again made sure not to walk around my house with his work boots on. After the job was complete, he walked me through the job and showed me step-by-step what had been completed. He also fixed a few minor things along the way (no charge) that I didn't even know about that he caught while he was completing the job. He left me his card with his name/contact info on it in case any issues developed. I will definitely use them again.

The actual service did not go well at all. The technician was young and not very professional--factors that were probably exacerbated by a long drive in rush-hour traffic from Baltimore, 45 minutes on a good day. He didn't use a tarp until I gave him one of mine, and insisted that he put it down; he asked me for a bucket, for a cup with which to scoop the water out of the sink; used my good towels to catch the semi-ground contents of the trap; soaked my (laminate) kitchen floor, even after I told him several times that the floor wasn't glued down, and would warp if water were allowed to stand on it, and carried the dripping towels across my dining room wall-to-wall out to the deck. Then he flipped over one of the kitchen slice mats I had just washed and put his electric snake (a large, dirty machine) on it, until I made him put it on the dropcloth I supplied. I contacted Mahon by e-mail after 5:00 PM (sure that no one would be there to respond) and told them that, though I would pay him what he asked, I didn't consider his behavior very professional or respectful of my property, was very unhappy with his performance, and I would not be contacting them again. Mr. Mahon apparently read the e-mail himself, and instructed the technician not to charge me for the visit. I offered to pay a fair price, but his office manager insisted that there would be no fee, and said she would have the young man (who was out in his truck at this point) come back in to finish cleaning up the mess. I'd scrubbed the sinks, washed out the towels, and had the laundry going and that point, and I told the young lady that frankly, I just wanted this young man out of my house. Nonetheless, I was very impressed by the responsiveness, courtesy, and genuine customer service exhibited by his employers, and I would definitely contact them again. I would just ask for a technician other than Tom. (His plumbing was excellent; I hope Mr. Mahon will help him to develop more respect for his customers' property, and a more mature attitude toward the services he is providing.)

Mike surveyed the work and told me how the drainage system in the basement work. He vacuumed some of the dirt out of one of the pipes. Then he plunged it with a metal rod to get as much dirt out as possible. After that, he ran a hose through the drain to see if it was running out. He also showed me the spot near the metal of the window well where the dirt was coming in and told me that I needed to get it caulked with epoxy. He checked and cleaned all five window wells and the area way drain. He also checked the sump pump to make sure it was operational.

I called on Thursday and they came out on Friday within the time they had said they would. The technician was Joe and he came out and took care of everything. He was very friendly and explained what he was doing and answered some questions I had. I would definitely use them again.

Mr. Mahon gave us an estimate which we accepted. He arranged for the workers to install two showers, a sink, and trouble shoot dripping faucets on Monday, July 16 at 8am. I took the day off work to be home. We called on Friday July 13th to confirm they had the materials and were ready to do the work on Monday. They assured us they were ready. Monday at 8am, the Mahon's office called to say they did not have all the materials. We rescheduled for Wednesday, July 18th at 9am. Once again I took the day off work. Wednesday at 9:15 I called the office and was told they would be there in half an hour. At 10am I called because they had not arrived yet. I asked to speak to Mr. Mahon and was told he was not available. I considered canceling the job and called back to discuss cancelling. Mr. Mahon answered the phone. He was abrupt and said it was not his fault and that he was up until 12:30 the night before and works very hard. He said he did not care if we canceled the job and that I called 10 times on Monday. I denied this and he said, "Well 5." Altogether he was not polite, helpful or apologetic. I canceled the job and said I would make a note of this in AL. and he responded, "Well, I will write about you," and hung up.

The overall experience was very good. THe company has lovely office staff who called me back (I left initial message after hours) promptly in the morning and scheduled a same day or next day appointment (don't remember any more). Plumber came when he said he would and office staff called me for payment later. All smooth and profession and price was reasonable.

Called on Monday, it was installed on tuesday afternoon. Service was excellent and staff was professional. Only problem is when I called to schedule, they said the rate was $99 an hour, but failed to state a helper would be there at $49 an hour rate. It was fine though because he did save time on the overall job.

I called at 10:15 AM and I was told a tech would be out within 2 hours. The tech did not arrive to my home until after 5 PM. In the mean time I did not receive a call saying a tech was running late. The tech arrived at my home, he did not speak or introduce himself and he attempted to walk through my home without an invitation. Once I explained what needed to be done he gave an estimate and began the work. The job was done in about 30 minutes and he walked me through everything he did. He did accept my Angie's List coupon from the app (he said he usually needs the actually piece of paper). The quality of the work was great, the customer service could have been better.

It went well. A tricky installation was completed save for the electric portion which was subsequently done by electricians.

Mr. Mahon came to the house to give an estimate and gave a detailed verbal explanation of the work to be done to replace the water line. He wrote a detailed estimate stating the price. His explanation was much more detailed than his competitors and his price was good. He also offered a 10 year guarantee. Others offered 1 yr or in one case 5 yrs. The work was performed by an excellent crew. All dirt excavated was placed on a tarp so as not to leave a mess. After the pipe was laid and connected, as the dirt was replaced, it was tamped to leave the yard level as it was found. The affected ground was seeded and covered with hay. The cement near the water meter was replaced. When it came time to pay Mr. Mahon asked if I was aware of the $300.00 Angie's List coupon which I wasn't and he gave me the $300 off. A stellar job from a fine company.
