A1 Handyman Service

I was told by local residents this businessis no longer in service because of quality and licensing issues

Appeared to be from the area, said they were licensed and insured (never produced). Walked around and gave bids for each job individually, wanting to start right away. We were told they would take about four days to complete and wanted to start right away. The deal was 1/3 upfront, middle and at completing (this too changed asking for advances to far into the jobs to hold back). Bids were soon increased due to different reasons. We were being worked on with other jobs and were not sure when they were coming or not, no call and no show was a norm. Personal calls, family problems were obstacles all the time and shortened their days, always gone by around 1:30 arrived late daily. The jobs slowly poked along, part of the small room to complete was to sand the floor and put some polyurethane down, they wanted to again increase the price on this and other finishing work. One morning the husband showed to try and straighten out the crown molding in the small room, they worked 1/2 day trying to do a miter cut which they could not figure out. The job was not complete, they needed a few hundred dollars and would return the next day and finish the painting and we refused to give any more money until the work was complete and to our satisfaction. This man sat out in his truck yelling up to our home, his wife who was his painter wanted more money to do the floor, It was scary and embarrassing in front of our neighbors. They never returned to this job and we are glad even though we lost money. Since then the sink in the cellar is leaking all the time, it took us a week to clean up the paint that overlapped colors, the mess made when the crown molding stain got all over the colored walls and needed repainting all in this tiny room. There are shingles (3) sliding down the roof. We were in a local department store last week and the wife was yelling across the store at us "You owe me money". This is when we decided to write to Angies List. We have learned a lot about hiring local Handymen to do anything,anymore.
