I had a dead plum tree (a trunk and two branches) that the Home Owners Association of my rental house was requiring me to remove. On Thursday, June 21, I purchased Ballard?'s deal for $99 for $200 Worth of Professional Tree Services. I received an email response on Tuesday, June 25, asking me to phone for an appointment with an arborist to get a final pricing. I phoned, providing my home address, the rental property address, and my phone number. We scheduled the appointment for June 27, for a window from 10:30-12:30. As agreed over the phone, the arborist phoned me ahead of time so that I could meet him at the site, without having to wait up to two hours. After checking out the tree, he wrote me up a proposal, which I accepted, showing an additional cost to me of $300. He said that the work would likely take at least two weeks to complete, since they would first have to get Miss Utility to mark the location of the underground utilities. He said I would not have to be present when the work was done; they could complete the work and send me the bill afterwards. On Monday, July 21, Ballard left a message on my answering machine, saying that they had driven to the site on Saturday, to perform the work, but that Miss Utility hadn?'t marked the utilities. The message said that they would try to get Miss Utility to mark the utilities on Wednesday, so that they could cut the day after. On Friday, July 25, I checked the Miss Utility and saw that all utilities said they had completed marking the lines. After driving to the site for confirmation, I called Ballard and informed them that the marking had actually been done. The receptionist said that the work would be completed that weekend. I drove by on Saturday, July 26, and saw that the tree was finally gone. On Friday, August 8, I called Ballard to say that I had not yet received a final bill. The receptionist said that they had mailed the bill to the rental house, not to my house. I had them forward the bill to my email account,.

We'd tried to contact 2 other landscape companies over the summer to come and give the backyard tree a really good trim, but had heard nothing back from either so decided to try Angies List. Purchased the $99 for $200 of work deal from Ballard Enterprises and we couldn't be happier. The work was carried out in a timely manner; the estimate was accurate; and the results we are thrilled with. Guys arrived very promptly Monday morning, and removed all waste items. The standard or work is high, and we achieved the goal of more light in our kitchen and the branches away from the house. I'll now sleep better during storms :)

The worker said it would be a total of $300 for the work. I said the tree wasn't too much of a bother and we would be fine with the $200 worth of work that we bought for a $99 coupon special. The worker said they cannot do any work for less than $300; that was the company policy and anything less didn't make sense for them to do. I asked why they didn't list that policy in the "fine print" of the Angie's List coupon since he claimed it was a matter of fact, no explanation was provided. The worker did offer to bring the price down another $50. I needed another few days to think the price over, but in the end decided I did want to do business with this company. They really could have put their minimum work price in the fine print. I bought the coupon thinking I could have $200 worth of work on one tree, but that was not the case.

Purchased a deal for $200 worth of services for $99.00 specifically to have a 9 yo Japanese Maple Tree pruned/trimmed. A contract was signed the same day someone came to my home to give an estimate, on Tuesday 5/13/2014. The contract was for 30 days, however I was told that the work would most likely occur prior to 30 days. Three weeks went by and I did not hear anything from the company. I left a message, however no response initially. Another call was placed prior to the 30 day contract expiration, and I spoke with the owner who told me that because his company was near Annapolis (I live approximately 30 miles away) and the fact this was a "small job" the job would be completed on the same day when there was another job in my area. I was finally scheduled to have my tree pruned/trimmed on Thursday June 19, 2014, however this did not occur (no call/no show). I understand that there was a significant storm with power outages the night before, however I did not receive a courtesy called until I left a message first. Anyway, the work finally took place on Monday 6/23/14. I was not at home when the work occurred. The tree barely looked trimmed and was definitely not worth $275.00. I called to complain about the job, and spoke with the owner. After listening to my concerns, he agreed to come and evaluate the work within a week and perform additional work if he believed it was warranted. As of this writing (8/16/14), no one from the company has visited my home or contacted me. Lastly, I kept receiving invoices for $375.00, though I prepaid for $200.00 worth of services through Angies List. Eventually I sent the remainder of the payment ($175.00) emphazing the correct balance.

They were awesome. They showed up on time. All 4 guys took down 2 70ft tall trees, one of which had died. They also took down a holly tree and left a stump as we'd requested -- we plan on making it into a table later. They pruned two trees for us too. They were polite and professional. They chopped up the logs for us too so we could use later on for firewood.

There was a scheduling conflict with the company due to the prior engagement of the employee who was originally assigned to provide an estimate; when I notified the company I could not reschedule the owner came to provide an estimate. I was pleasantly surprised because the owner is an arborist and we discussed not only what is best for my circumstances but what was best for the tree itself. Although they were unable to provide a specific date and time (it was during the continuous rain period we encountered in June), they did give me a time frame the work would be completed. The workers were stealth like, they arrived and began working on the tree, completed their work, removed all of the trimmings and departed. It was a great experience and I have recommended the company to my friends and neighbors. I will definitely use them again.

They were very quick to respond. I gave them the circumference of each stump and they gave me an estimate over the phone. They were able to schedule me for service within a couple of days. They were on time and very professional. I was extremely pleases with their service.

What I needed done wouldn't be covered by big deal. They asked for an additional $250.

Tim Ballard did the preliminary inspection. Unlike two other tree services, he was very hands on in inspecting the tree. His recommendations all seemed reasonable and in line with what we wanted. We were given a time frame of 3 to 4 weeks for the work do be done. It was done 3-1/2 weeks after the inspection. The crew arrived at 8:45 am and got to work. They were very careful of our fencing and structures in our neighbors yard. The work was done quickly and efficiently. Yard cleanup was excellent. The crew was very good about answering questions about why some things were or were not trimmed. Overall, a very satisfactory experience. I was impressed by the crew's appreciation of the tree's beauty and its importance to us. I strongly recommend them.

They cleaned up pretty well. Overall, I was pleased with their work. The owner even wrote me a thank you letter for hiring them to do the work. It was pleasantly surprising.

They were great. Came out a couple of days after I called them. Told them I needed the work done within 10 days, and they had it done within a week. With the Angie's List "deal" that I bought, the price was competitive with others. They showed up to do the work exactly when they said they would, they were efficient and polite. Would definitely use them again.

They way they explained it, they were going to charge a premium on top of the service charge.

The work was performed expertly and professionally.

The Crew was good, but I purchased extra services that I should have not purchased. I had the opportunity to have the tree stump ground which was a extra $500 for equipment fees and the crew ran out of time. It seems like at that point the work was rushed so the work was not finished properly and now I have to make the work right myself.

I liked that it was a fixed-price deal. They came, did what they said they were going to do, and cleaned up. The price and the quality of work were good.

The service never happened. I spoke to a representative. He told me someone would come to my house and give me a estimate. For instance if the estimate was for $1000 they would subtract $200 from estimate. I said I would like to see what they would do for $200. He said they would only come out to do an estimate if the total was $250 or more. I said is that written in Angie's List. He said maybe or maybe not. We agreed to terminate the deal.

They did a phenomenal job. We called them sort of last minute and we wanted couple trees taken down. They were able to do that. They dropped the two trees and there was no mess. You wouldn't even know that they were there. They were fast and efficient and I talked to the owner and I liked that.

Company removed 3 large tulip poplar trees as well as several smaller trees. The large trees were becoming increasingly dangerous with large branches lost during storms and the appearance of becoming increasingly unstable at over 200 feet tall. Job took approximately 9 hours for a work crew of 5-6. Called on a Thursday afternoon and the appraiser responded and came out the next day. Offered a competitive rate and priced out several options for the tree and stump removal. Provided a handwritten proposal on the visit as well as a proposal offer by mail which included a 15% discount for acceptance within 7 days. Accepted the proposal and scheduled appointment via email. Work crew showed up around 930 in the morning and worked until nearly 6. Hauled away all parts of the tree and cut stumps to ground level as we requested. The work necessitated temporarily removing an arborvitae and some landscaping stones so that the equipment could easily move through the yard. The crew replanted the tree and returned the edging stones to garden bed upon completion, as well as cleaning up the debris from the tree. Ballard Enterprises also provided detailed insurance information including policy numbers and coverage details which other companies we contacted were much more reluctant to give out. The company did a fantastic job start to finish, from the appraiser and office staff to the removal crew. The company also offered to put down topsoil and reseed grass on any spots in the yard that were damaged by their machinery. I would not hesitate to use or recommend this company for a large or small tree removal project.

I was very happy that Ballard was able to work with me on removing a spruce and an oak tree I had on my property. I have to admit I was on a tight budget, but was able to get a good deal since they performed the services during their off season. They removed two tree and stumps, crowned a third tree, removed resulting mulch, filled holes with topsoil, and finished with grass seeds and straw. NOTE TO READER: Even though they have a price match offer and were able to work with me on my price, I don't want to suggest that you can low ball them because they do not offer low ball services. They had a team of about 6 guys who came out to do the work and I was very happy to see those trees go. The only thing is that I did wish they were able to grind down the roots of one of the trees they removed. Overall I was very happy with the service and will hire them again if I decide to cut down a couple more big trees I have in my yard.

They were very maticulous about taking the trees down limb by limb. They did an excellant joy. I am not certain of the date and cost of the tree removal.

We had the estimator from Ballard Enterprises come out to our home and give us an estimate on removing a large dead tree from our backyard. We were very concerned how they planned on doing the work without hitting our house, our neighbor's house or the fence. He took his time and answered all of my husband's questions. On the scheduled day, the crew arrived and set up and went right to work. It took them about 3 hours to cut down and remove the dead tree. After mulching up the debris, the crew went back into the yard and racked up the area plus another 1/2 of our yard. They left the yard looking better than before they came. Everyone we talked to, from the office secretary to the men on the crew, where very polite and professional. We would highly recommend this company to all of our family and friends...in fact we have.

Great clean-up job. I've used them before several times, after the derecho and a small tornado.

They did an excellent job, cleaned up well when they were finished. We were satisfied with their work and would recommend them.
