Samco was one of the few companies to respond when I sent out inquiries recently about having my driveway (which was about 50+ years old) replaced. After some email contact, Sam Jr. and I got in touch, and he came out to give an estimate. Despite the age of the driveway, he said it was in decent condition and said there were 2 options. I could resurface the driveway at a cost of about $4.50 a square foot, or we could replace the driveway at an original cost of $7.00 a square foot. We went over the pros and cons of each option, and it made more sense (given the age of the driveway) to fully replace it. When he gave me the written estimate, he had knocked a bit of the cost off, and it was down to about $6.10 a square foot. He knew I had some other contractors scheduled, and was polite about it. Later that evening, he gave me a call, and since they were going to be in the area on a job, he was able to get the price down to about $5.00 a square foot. At that point, I jumped on the deal, as that price was only a minimal amount more than the resurfacing would have cost, and would last much longer than a resurfacing. Sam and the team showed up on time the day of the appointment and went over things one last time. Their work was professional and quick. They take care to ensure straight edges, and that cracks (such as between the garage, porch, and sidewalk and the driveway were filled in. They also elevated the driveway a touch as the grass line was higher that the original driveway. But there is still plenty of slope for the driveway as well. We got some strong storms last night (and overnight), but the driveway was bone-dry this morning, instead of the usual puddles and lakes that would form after a storm on the old driveway. I would peek out at them as they were working, and Sam was always fully involved working on something, including getting down on his hands and knees when needed to check a spot or correct something. Their clean up was just as thorough and professional, and Sam gave me all the information needed for letting the driveway cure given the hot days we've been having. All in all, I'm highly satisfied with the job they did, and would highly recommend them for any residential paving need.

Our driveway was a real mess! It had huge ruts from 50 years of tire ware and cars standing on it and it was crumbling. I asked for a quick quote and they gave me a reasonable one and were ready to go right after. No scheduling wait time. The crew came on time and did a great workmanship like job and finished in no time. The best part was the amazing clean up. They are Professional and leave the customer very pleased. Thank you SAMCO and Joel Cooper! They are the very best!!

Very well. Samco owner, Mr. Cooper was very cordial and responsive. One small issue was remedied immediately and with big apology.

Very responsive to emails, did a beautiful job on my driveway. Had a small area that created a ditch in the yard because of the build up and terrain. When the job was done he said he would be back by the end of the week and would fill the ditch. I will be honest I did not have high hopes of there return as I did not pay for the extra materials that he offered to bring. I offered to pay for the materials to fill the ditch and was told not to worry about it. End of the week came and a dump truck showed up as promised. Outstanding company highly recommend!

They did a wonderful job and were very responsive and professional. I called 4 contractors and Sam was the most responsive and also was able to give me the best price. I don't know why the others were going to charge so much more. Sam did everything I needed for the driveway.

I could not be more pleased! Sam Cooper, Sr. and Jr. are very professional, cordial, conscientious, and easy to work with. They explained exactly what they would do, with recommendations. As they and their crew worked, they carefully checked all aspects. When completed, they made sure I was pleased. Their price was a little lower than the three competitive ones I got. They cleaned up before and afterwards.

Awesome. These guys did a great job. The driveway looked great afterward, and everything was immaculate. Absolutely no mess or stones where they shouldn't be. Samco gave me a very fair deal. Also, their customer service was outstanding. They were honest and responsive. In the interest of getting the job done sooner rather than later, they offered to move some debris from the driveway when I did not have time. That service was not part of their job, but they offered it up anyway free of charge (on a small job). I will absolutely recommend the company to others looking for paving/gravel services.

I could not be more impressed with Samco. Several other paving companies (with great reviews) failed to even return my calls; one that did call back talked a great game, said he could fit the job in, scheduled an appointment for an estimate but then didn't bother to show up or even call. Samco was ultimately the only company that followed through on providing an estimate. After speaking with Sam by phone then in person for the layout, I felt comfortable accepting his bid without anything to directly compare it to. Can't say how the bid would have compared to another company but it seemed very reasonable for the scope of work. Sam was a true professional throughout the process -- friendly, respectful, prompt, excellent communication, and on site the whole time work was being done. Our project was completed in two phases (prep then finished surface a couple of weeks later) -- both times, Sam answered all of my questions about what to expect next and his crew left the site in great condition. The finished product exceeded my very high expectations.

It was a large job, the overall cost far exceeded the work on the driveway itself. I was very impressed with Samco and with his son who was there for the entire job, they did a very nice job on it. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Actually, I called on a Wednesday and they came in on a Thursday.

It went very well. Two people came out and it took an hour. I would tell a friend or family member they had good service.

I contacted Mr. Sam Cooper, Jr., the company owner, and he came out to my home to provide an estimate for the above work. He arrived on time, was totally professional and courteous, and provided me with a written estimate for the job. His crew arrived a few days later to do the work. What initially impressed me was that the crew spent approximately two hours preparing the driveway before they ever applied a drop of seal coat to it. There didn't appear to be a speck of debris on the surface by the time they had finished. They even took a string trimmer and cut the grass back at the driveway edges to assure a clean edgeline. I had been concerned that there might be spatter of the black seal coat onto my white garage doors, but the job was so carefully done that I need not have worried. My husband and I could not have been more pleased with the finished job. After our driveway seal coating was completed, several of our neighbors also hired Mr. Cooper and his company to seal coat their driveways too. I can honestly say that our street has the best looking driveways in Anne Arundel County! But that's not the end of the story. In April 2012, Verizon did some telephone work at our house and brought a big bucket truck and parked it on our driveway, where it leaked approximately one quart of motor onto the driveway surface. Verizon told me that they would repair the damage, but long story short, they never did. I contacted Mr. Cooper and asked if I could hire him to come out and clean up the leaked motor oil mess. He told me that he would be glad to do it. When I asked about the price, he informed me that there would not be ANY charge. I insisted that I expected to pay him for the time and materials he would use to do the repair job, but he replied that it would not be necessary. This week I came home to find the repair work done and my driveway looking great again. There are very few companies in business today who provide the quality of work and the exceptional customer service as that Mr. Sam Cooper, Jr. and his company, Samco Paving, Inc.
