I called to set up an appointment and told them I wanted a stairwell and 1-2 rooms painted, depending on what there was time for. I had a question about their policy, and they told me to talk to LivingSocial about it. I cleared up the issue later that day and called X-press back. During the next couple of months, I never received a call back from X-press, and eventually the voucher was about to expire. I left a few messages and finally had to ask LivingSocial for my money back, spending at least 2 hours on the phone and on email trying to explain to them what had happened. LivingSocial said that Xpress had redeemed the voucher, so I contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. The next day, I and my friend had to set up a conference call with LivingSocial to straighten it out. We finally got our money back from LivingSocial. When X-press replied to my BBB complaint, they accused LivingSocial of lying and were very rude. They said I wanted my whole house painted, which made me think they had me mixed up with someone else or were lying. I would definitely stay away from this company. They seem unprofessional and have terrible customer service. They did not apologize for not calling back and seemed to think that I was trying to take advantage of them, when all I did was buy their voucher.
Description of Work: A friend purchased an $80 LivingSocial coupon for me to use for this provider.

I purchases a Groupon for 8 hours of painting for $189. I had several areas i wanted painted - 3 bathrooms and 1 bedroom. The bedroom did require one accent wall and hanging wall paper on one wall - the estimated cost was $750 for that one bedroom. I declined to move forward with painting this room. Charles told me the 8 hour Groupon would cover the 3 bathrooms so we scheduled time for that to be done - April 25, 2014 @ 8am (I did wait over a month between the estimate and being able to get on their calendar for actual painting). I called the Thursday before to confirm and was told, yes, they would be there. On 4/25 - no one showed up. I called Charles several times - his voice mailbox was full most of the day. I was finally able to leave a message in the afternoon. I also sent two text messages. No one ever responded. I then contact Groupon to get a refund. When Groupon contacted X-Press, they lied and said their technician showed up at my home but no on was there. Thankfully, Groupon did end up giving me a full refund. Not only was it unprofessional for them to not show up after waiting so long to be scheduling, it's shockingly unethical for X-Press to blatantly lie to Groupon. Seems like they just wanted the money without doing the work / they lost interest when I didn't want anything more than the 8 hour Groupon.
Description of Work: After purchasing Groupon for painting, they provided estimate for work and never showed up. X-Press then lied to Groupon to avoid having to giving a refund.

I came home after work to find two men working on my deck. They said they had been working on it since early morning. They had to take it all apart. Some planks were replaced using materials I had left over from the job so the color is not all uniform. Both were very professional and friendly. If only they were the ones to put in my deck the first time I may not have faced the problems I faced. They kept asking if there was anything else I thought needed to be addressed. My deck does not look like a new project, but I am thankful to have it fixed. I honestly appreciate the time and hard work these two men devoted to my project.
Description of Work: Redid the deck to allow for drainage between planks. They also replaced the cover board with the gouge in it along with redoing the uneven steps. One light still does not function, I was told it may have to be replaced. This will be a special order and that will take a couple of weeks. My corners are still not mitered, but do not look as though they will separate over time.

Our job was to start on July 24th and be finished in approximately one to one and a half days. We originally signed a contract with Lowes on May 25, 2013 and this was the contractor assigned to us. There were several delays starting with the materials having to be special ordered. This would be a two week delay,. Manufacturer did not have the materials on hand, another two week delay. When materials came in I was called to set up an appointment for the job to start, again another two weeks. On July 24th, the workers showed up ten minutes earlier than expected. I was told I would have a frame up that day. Two men dug the holes needed for the deck. In the afternoon the installer came back to check on the job and told me the frame would not be done because he would have to resupport it when he came back. Next step was the inspection. We were told the inspector would probably be out Thursday or Friday. Thursday came I waited for the inspector, no call, no inspector. Friday came, again I waited, no call, no inspector. Friday afternoon a call was placed to the installer only to be told that the inspector would be out on Monday and that I should have received a call from the home office, that didn't happen. Monday came, the inspector came and it did not pass due to the weekend rain that filled the uncovered holes. Once again I called the installer to notify him. He said he would call the office to see what they had to say. He returned my call telling me that he would have a crew come out in the afternoon to pump out the water. His crew came out, emptied the water, only to find a baby bunny had drowned in one of the uncovered holes. Now I was told the inspector would come on Tuesday by noon. Tuesday I waited for the inspector. Around 11:35, I received a call from the installer asking if the inspection was done. I told him I would call after the inspector comes, he assured me they were ready to get started, once it passes. About 11:45 the inspector showed, he passed it this time. I call the installer and he tells me they will be out in the morning. He comes out the next day, puts up the frame and says that is all he can do at this time. The next day it rained, no work done. Friday comes the installer shows up to start the deck. He worked for several hours putting down the planking materials and covering the wood with the composite materials ordered for the job. He also started to put up some of the railing. Quick look, the deck looks really good, very sturdy. Upon closer inspection there are screws missing in some of the planks, meaning only one screw instead of two. Two of the lights cannot be opened in order to get the solar lights started. There is a noticeable mark on one of the posts, corner pieces don't meet, there is a gouge in one of the cover pieces. Glue is very visible on the railing from the paper that was removed, and there is no spacing for drainage. Upon leaving the installer tells me he will check to see if he is able to come out Saturday or Sunday to complete the job, but assures me he will all to let me know if he can or can't. Once again no call. Monday comes, waiting for installer, he showed up around 9:30 worked until 5:00 to complete the job. Our end plank does not match up with the post that are setting on it. We were told they would fix that. We have not signed off on this job. We contacted Lowes about these issues and expressed concerns that only the crooked plank would be fixed. They wanted pictures we sent pictures. They wanted to come to see the job and did so about ten days ago. They agreed about the drainage issue and said they would put in a work order. To date we have not heard from anyone. I was home all summer to get this work done. I cannot afford to take off after just returning. The company felt we did not need drainage between the planks. My major concerns are this, in winter I fear I will have an issue with ice on the deck in summer I fear I will have a problem with mold. In either case this becomes my problem and not the company that caused it. There are scrapes on my deck, I was told by Lowes that I could use a spoon to buff these out and I was told I could use soap and water to try to remove the glue. Why does this become my responsibility when I am paying for a newly finished deck? This company left trash at the site after digging the holes both inside the holes and in my yard. I am sorry that I cannot and will not recommend this company.
Description of Work: Installation of a small deck with steps.
