David came to my home on a Monday and provided a written quote within 24 hours. I had another bidder at my home on Tuesday and was waiting for that bid to come in before I decided which way to go. However David called me Wed or Thur afternoon basically demanding a decision. I told him I was waiting for another bid which I expected soon and he got upset and withdrew his bid. It turned out that David was looking for a quick decision so he could schedule my small job that Friday, but that wasn't a condition on the quote. It did turn out that his price was significantly lower, but several items we had discussed were omitted from his sloppy quote so it was hard to do a direct comparison. Even if I had gone with him I don't see how we could have remedied the quote details and selected paint colors in the time frame in which he envisioned.

Have used Dave Wockenfuss several times over the more than 20 years I have lived in this house. He has always done an excellent and professional job. I was reminded of my intention to call him when I saw his crew working at my next door neighbor's house. I contacted him and arranged for him to come out and do an estimate - including some light carpentry that I had been putting off. He provided a written estimate and also include the details of the previous SOW and charges from when he last painted the house, as a point of comparision. I scheduled the work. He was in touch to let me know when his crew would be on site. Dave was on site for part of the job, gave direction to his crew chief and then again at the end to make sure that everything was done. He worked around our busy schedules making it easy to schedule the job. Work was done quickly and crew did great job of keeping things neat and and organized and cleaned up when job was done. I will use again the next time I have painting work to be done.

The house looks beautiful and they did a great job. this is the second time I have used them.

One of the first indications that things were going to go well was Dave Wockenfuss arriving to scope the job, talk to us about materials, costs, and schedules. He didn't send someone else because he runs his own crew and his own shop. He's a part of the job from start to finish and while he doesn't do all the work by himself, he has a full-time crew who he is dedicated to keeping employed and happy. During the inspection phase, Dave had to put up with our yappy inquisitive terrier and he handled it very well, yet another indication that things would go well. He worked with us when we asked that he expand the scope of the original job and was very reasonable with costs additions. He was very busy at the time, so he scheduled the start for a few weeks out and began the work when he said he would. As the work progressed, we could see that there was no reason for extra supervision, so we were away for several days and had ever confidence that the work was being done well and on time. As the work completed we found a couple of pleasant surprises: Our neighbors were delighted with the overall improvement in the appearance and the sift we'd made in accent colors (some of those were Dave's suggestions), there were no hidden messes like spilled paint to clean up; and there was little to no plant damage to the hundreds of plants that were very close to the house. Yes, I'd trimmed things away from the house, but a less careful crew could still have done substantial damage. Finally, as we settled the bill and found just a couple of small items that we would still liked to have done, Dave made it easy for us to pay the bill and he did come back and correct those items later. That was the first job, we had him back for a different job the next Spring. We've recommended him to anyone in the area looking for exterior painting and we hope that he can keep his crew happy and employed for years to come.
