They did an incredible job! The before and after pictures say it all. There were a few hiccups here and there along the way, as with any major project like this one. Koehler proved to be problematic. The jetted tub received three ship dates. The job was begun because they had a ship date. The special order tub came in without the jets. Because the color was a special order, it took about 6 weeks to get the jets. When they arrived 4 of the 8 jets were broken. Again, because these are special order, it again took many weeks to come in. When they finally arrived, they shipped the wrong color. After calling Koehler with all of these issues, they located the correct ones and shipped them overnight. The online drawings (at Koehler) of the tub proved not to be correct. This meant rebuilding the tub surround, which added to the time that it took to complete the project. Finally finished, and it's fabulous.

Overall very well. Workers were neat and the kitchen was sealed off with plastic sheets when they were working. About a month after the work was finished and fully paid for some touch-up was required. I was concerned about this work after all payments had been made but I needn't be. Within a few days VKB came back and did the touch-ups.

Excellent. This was a major remodel of a master bathroom. Walls were moved, a huge jacuzzi tub was taken out and everything was gutted. A larger shower was constructed and a stand alone bathtub replaced the jacuzzi tub. Daniel Frias was the project manager. He was very responsive, pleasant and ensured we were happy with the work. The crew chief, Juan was a perfectionist and did great work. He continuously asked us where and how we wanted items placed.

VKB did my kitchen renovation, so it made sense to me after that experience to get an estimate on remodels for both my master bath and hall bath. With custom cabinets, mirrors, hardware and a gorgeous bath design, I was pleasantly surprised that they came in well below competing estimates. I was looking for a quality renovation as close to my budget as possible and VKB did that. The thing I liked most over competing estimates is that they PAINT! This makes things very convenient and we don't have to schedule other vendors. The unsung heroes of any renovation are the guys that show up at your house every day for 4 weeks and do the work. They showed up by 8am everyday, occasionally at 830 if they need to pick up materials and were cleaned up and gone by 5pm. The crew was always courteous and good about laying down protective coverings and cleaning up before they left. Jason, the project manager was awesome. If I ever had a question or concern (worrying or valid), I could contact him and he would resolve it or explain the situation. I felt a close connection with the team, as well as Jason, and they instilled my trust that the job would be completed to my satisfaction and it was! My bathrooms are gorgeous. Note to home owners - go over all the details with the designer, take notes because there are more details than you might think and sometimes you change your mind and forget (oops) so it's a good idea to have your own notes and write it down so there is no confusion. You may need to pay for things outside of the purchase agreement - like paint. No big deal, the guys have the supplies. Also, be flexible with the ebbs and flows of progress. The more flexible you are, the less stressed you will be by the experience. Trust in your project manager, he will make it happen! It was a pleasure working with this company. They made me feel valued and always treated me with respect and consideration. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for quality work for a reasonable price.

I’m about to sell my house and I expect that the two-and-a-half baths that VKB did for me are going to be a strong selling point. What was important is that they really want you to like your bathroom. No one should expect that everything will go perfectly. It will take more time than it was supposed to because each project is fairly complicated. But in the end, you have a Pete or Jason in charge of the project and calling you regularly to make sure that everything is working out to your satisfaction (and occasionally making some changes to the original plan if you don’t like it). And Junior, my designer, also worked hard to fix anything. When the original floor tiles were out of stock, he took me to another vendor to find something that worked for me. And I like the idea of fixing the project cost at the beginning and then working within that budget. No surprises. So, in the end, each project seemed to take a little longer than expected, but Pete or Jason were always there to get it right and THAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME.

In short: The project management and planning was rather bad, the execution required some interference from our side, the final result is satisfactory. Re 1): With no previous warning, the contractor expected to start demolishing Tuesday before Thanksgiving. At several points there was lack of communication, and we had to question: “what comes next?”. Re 2): The contractor did not completely follow the plans. He missed the moisture barrier on the cement drywall and tried to argue that it was not necessary. He installed a hand held shower in the wrong position. He was very careful in sealing off the work area to avoid dust in the rest of the house. Re 3): All items that we discovered and complained about, were corrected.
Description of Work: The job was to remove an ugly plastic bathtub insert and build a shower stall with tiles and pebble floor, also install new toilet and vanity.

Fantastic! We couldn't be happier. It was a bit over budget, but so worth the additional features we put in. Amanda and Joe were fun to work with; the final design was a collaboration of all of our ideas. Jason was an excellent project manager. He was readily available whenever we had questions. The crew, Paulo and David, were very professional, polite and attentive to details. They took the time to answer questions, explain what they were doing and they kept the space as clean as possible. A few minor tweaks were needed after the remodel and they came and took care of everything. If/when we decide to remodel bathrooms, we will definitely contact VKB.
Description of Work: We had our kitchen/dining room remodeled into one big eat in kitchen. A wall was taken out and the sink, dishwasher and refrigerator were relocated which required plumbing. They put in a beautiful peninsula with a farm sink and the backsplash is gorgeous!

The end result is fantastic. We had a small galley-type kitchen with little counter space and ugly cabinets. Now we have a kitchen with so much counter space and so many cabinets that we can't fill them all. Amanda listened to our ideas and offered some really excellent suggestions, like making a pantry around the fridge rather than taking up space elsewhere. Jason was a great project manager, and responded 24 hours a day. He personally came to the house 15+ times throughout the project, and made sure we were happy with the service. The tile in the kitchen and family room is exceptional, and probably our favorite part of the entire job, done with care and precision. We encountered a difficulty with the sink we ordered (an item that VKB was not responsible for since we wanted an upgrade). Jason called in the granite company to come and fix the issue free of charge, without any delay. The team cleaned up each day, and took away all of the demo items in a timely manner. We had a window replaced in the kitchen, which was key to the remodel, and the new window is gorgeous. Our only complaint, which may be common for projects of this size, is that we had to really stay on the workers to make sure each step of the project was completed to our standards. There were a few cabinetry items that had to be redone, due to sloppy workmanship, and a few communication delays, like when the window would arrive, and what fan to order for our oven hood. However, Jason didn't consider the project finished until we were 100% satisfied, and we have even called 5 months after the project finished to get a few things corrected, and Jason scheduled us in within a few days. Overall, the price of the kitchen was higher than we anticipated, but the end product was worth it. The kitchen is beautiful and will add a lot of value to our house. We enjoy our house much more now, and we have thrown three parties this holiday season and the kitchen is now the gathering place!

Joe Zouine was the design consultant that transformed our kitchen from 1980s eat in kitchen into a beautiful, large, and functional kitchen. The project manager, Jason Freeman, wad instrumental in ensuring the project wss correctly orchestrated and on schedule. Jason monitored the project from start to finish, physically at the job site often, and called daily to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Jason did a wonderful job and we could not have asked for a better or more qualified person for the job. The crews were highly skilled and performed continuously throughout the day. The products, service, and work crews are truely deserving of a 5 star review! I recommend this company and plan to use VKB in the future. Including before and after pics.

Wonderful! From the beginning Amanda was wonderful. My husband and I described to her what we wanted and she created my DREAM kitchen. Jason managed the process in a meticulous nature. He checked in often and made whatever adjustments necessary. This was a very hard period for my family because my husband passed away during the project. The team was very considerate and worked around our planning and holding his services. They did everything to ensure we were not inconvenienced during this difficult time. Each day the team cleaned up after they completed their work. They were always her on time and finished up for the day a reasonable time. Everyone mentioned that having a kitchen done was a nightmare during the process. Our experience was completely different. I highly recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath! Did I tell you that they reinstalled our old kitchen cabinets in our garage. Something my husband really wanted. Thank you Amanda, Jason and the entire team!

The finished master bathroom is amazing with an inviting and open design that is both a welcome retreat and an oasis from our busy life. We are thrilled with every detail of Amanda's design and VKB's workmanship. We had several Angie's List top-rated contractors bid on our bathroom project. We picked VKB because of they included all the extras we wanted (like a heated floor) and full design services for very competitive price. Our designer Amanda was fantastic to work with and came up with several major innovations to our original plan that really pushed the design way beyond what we expected. The final product blows our people away when we show it to them. The entire VKB construction crew (to include the glass fabrication and installation) and the project manager were all VKB employees with lots of experience. The only sub-contractor they used was Classic Granite for the counters; which we loved because we had previous great results with Classic in previous work at our house. As for the customer experience, everyone on the crew at VKB was great to work with and took real pride in their part of the job. We felt safe and assured letting the crew use a lock box to access our house during work hours; which was great because this project did not impact our professional schedules. The crew always put down protection on the floors all the way from the front steps to the bathroom (and even on the wall during the first few weeks of construction). The project scheduling was really very good because there was someone working at our house Monday to Friday for the first four weeks (and an occasional Saturday to move things forward). Towards the end of the renovation there were a few days where no one was at the house because they were waiting for the glass fabrication/installation to do the final finish work. If you are like us and watch all those HGTV renovation shows, you know there are going to be some bumps along the way in every big renovation job. Ours was no exception and one measure of a great company is how they handle those "bumps." VKB was always extremely responsive and protective of their good reputation whenever we had a question or concern. Every single concern was quickly addressed to our satisfaction and beyond--no matter how small. I never felt any resistance, only a genuine desire to make the customer love the finished product. For my money, VKB was the best company we could have chosen out of a list of great companies on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Complete design, gut-to-the-studs, and full renovation of our 18'x12' master bathroom that was stuck in the 1980's. The job also included a matching granite top for new cabinetry installed in the adjacent dressing room.

My husband and I live in a historic rowhome, and we were very nervous about finding a company we could trust to give us what we wanted but also know what would work in our house. We interviewed a few companies, and VKB was exactly what we were looking for. Calvin, our designer, came to our house, listened to my ideas, and thoroughly examined the space. A few days later, we met with him and Sean in the showroom to see what they envisioned (a lot like these HGTV shows where you get the hypothetical 3D layout). I felt like they had read my mind. We loved the proposal, so we went ahead and picked cabinets, tile, hardware, etc. that day! The project started within a week or two. Jason, the project manager, came by frequently and made sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed. On days when I didn't see him, he called to keep me updated and to make sure I was satisfied with the progress. The workers were very respectful of our home, protecting our furniture and floors and keeping the house as clean as possible. We had a few minor issues along the way (very minor compared to most renos) but Jason was quick to address them and make sure things went smoothly. The quality of their work is excellent. Overall, we are very satisfied and would recommend VKB to anyone looking for a design-to-build company.

VKB Kitchen and Bath did a complete remodeling of my kitchen and the basement bathroom. The rooms hadn't been touched since the house was built in 1981. Amanda helped to design the new rooms and I am very pleased with all the choices we made. She took care of all the purchasing, which I appreciated. She was very willing to call suppliers and ask questions about items. Jason was the project manager and he kept things moving forward and was very responsive to my concerns, which were few. The workmen were clearly professionals with lots of experience in kitchen and bath renovation. They did a wonderful job. It took less than 4 weeks from the day they started demolition to the day work was completed.

We selected the lowest bid and we are extremely pleased with VKB's sales and workforce. We had a completion deadline that was made without any break in arriving to our house each day. Jason, the foreman, was very active in the progress of work and available 24/7 throughout, even on his day off. The worker's were trained, very polite, and respectful of our daily activities around their work. We had two supply issues for products and both products were delivered in time and without substitutions. Calvin, our designer, created a very bright and pleasant tile arrangement, which took the tilers considerable time and care to complete. The guest bathroom looks fantastic. I particularly appreciate the extra material left with me for future repair: you never know when a guest will drop a cold cream jar and the ceramic will be out of stock! The en suite bath is next and we will have VKB convert the space to a handicap shower if the price is right as we're not getting any younger.

The actual bathroom is very nice. There were some issues with a crack in the grout, and the fact that we received a plastic toilet seat (this is a house, not a motel), for which the project manager has promised prompt remediation. The main issue is that workers were habitually late, or sometimes didn't even show up on days they were supposed to come. My wife and I both work and have to take time off to meet workers. On multiple occasions we have been stood up (still waiting for the grout and toilet seat to be fixed). Bottom line, figure out your salary for two weeks, then add that to the price of whatever job you're having done, because you will lose that much time.

Mr. [Member Name Removed], We apologize for not meeting your expectations, that is not a typical experience described by our customers. There are always bumps in the road, what is critical is how they are repaired or made right. A few things to note... many toilet seats, even ungraded soft close units, are indeed plastic and that does not indicate that it is of hotel quality. Having said that, there are of course other options such as wood, etc. We are glad we were able to get you one that better met your expectations. As far as calculating salary for prices consideration, we do not require customers be present for the remodel, in fact the vast majority of our customers have a lock box placed on the door and are continuing their daily work routine. We of course welcome any customer to stay home if that is what they are most comfortable with, but it is most certainly not required and most of our customers choose to work while we remodel the space. Times of arrival vary based on the crew's schedule, whether or not they have materials to pick on while on the way, etc. We apologize again if these factors did not meet your hopes and expectations, as I mentioned above that is not the result we consistently produce and would love to know if there is any other action we can take to improve your experience. We value our customers greatly. -The VKB Team

Joe Zouine, was our designer and worked closely with us to be sure that we were making the most of the space we had in our kitchen. He asked great questions and we were able to get the project off the ground in a matter of weeks, from the time of the design and contract to actual start of the project. The project began on schedule and the demo of the old kitchen was complete in about 3 hours! The completion of the new kitchen took a good bit longer than anticipated due to some miscommunication with regard to where the permits were to be obtained, but the finished product is amazing. For the most part, we couldn’t have asked for better communication from VKB. At the end of every work day, the Project Manager called me to ask if we had any concerns, if the workers arrived on time and asked approximately when they wrapped up for the day. At the end of those daily conversations, we were asked if the workers were polite, took precautions so as not to cause any more disruption to my daily routine as necessary, and that they cleaned up behind themselves at the end of the day. We were always happy to report that they indeed did as they were instructed and I was also told at what time to expect the workers the next day. The Project: • Demolished the old kitchen and hauled it away • Moved my current refrigerator to my garage and got rid of the old refrigerator that had been in the garage prior to the project. • Moved the range (which was new and was being kept) to the garage with the new appliances • Removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen area and the half wall between the kitchen and breakfast room. • The wall between the dining room and kitchen was found to be load bearing and required the installation of a support header. One was installed according to PG County specs. The City of Laurel specs, however, were a bit more stringent and required a much larger and differently placed header. The header was ordered and was installed properly and to code. • Removed drywall from the exterior facing wall in the kitchen, and installed much better insulation, vapor barrier, and used heavier drywall materials in order to make sure that the kitchen was sufficiently insulated. The insulation that was there was not nearly sufficient. • They reworked the vaulted ceiling in the dining room so that the ceiling fixture could be located to the center of the ceiling instead to one side as the builders had placed it. It had always bothered me and figured while we were making a huge mess, we’d take care of that too. Now the ceiling medallion fits perfectly. • They replaced all of the baseboards and painted same. They also painted the walls, window trim, and ceilings. • Removed the old flooring, leveled the floors where they were not level and installed the new flooring. Originally we’d wanted to get large plank tiles for the kitchen (extending into the dining room and breakfast room), but was advised that, since our house is on a crawl space, the tile would be very cold and we’d probably feel it through out shoes. We went with something that had the same appearance, but was much better insulating material. This conversation saved us from an extremely cold floor and saved money. • The recessed lighting, dimmers, lighting fixtures and electrical outlets were installed. Our job required a completely new (much larger) electrical panel. The expense was expected since we were adding a few additional items for future projects and wanted to make sure that the GFI outlets were placed correctly. This was also an added complication because of being located in the City of Laurel. The building codes are different from county to county and even areas within a county. There was a little confusion about this, but they worked through the difficulties and made it right. • The cabinetry was finally installed and it was beautiful. When they unpacked the new refrigerator, we noticed that it sat out much further into the room then we expected. We all scratched our heads for a bit and came up with a fix for the problem. It was an added expense, but it wasn’t the fault of VKB. We measured the width and height of the new larger refrigerator, but never imagined that it would be THAT much deeper than the old refrigerator. Boy, were we wrong! We had the cabinets on the refrigerator side of the kitchen, uninstalled and pulled forward, flush with the wall, so that the refrigerator fit much better. They even moved the water line for the ice maker way over in the corner of the refrigerator space so that the refrigerator could go back a couple of inches. • They installed the new microwave and placed the existing range back in place, a more powerful disposal, and an Instant Hot. • The granite was installed over the kitchen counters and coffee bar as was the glass tile back splash. A couple of items need adjustments and those items were taken care of as requested. • The vertical dividers for my baking sheets, which went in the cabinet over my refrigerator, took many weeks to come in, but they were definitely worth the wait. • We have changed out the plain glass panels from the kitchen cabinets for ones with a “rain” texture. The plain glass constantly needed to have finger prints removed. The textured glass will also require cleaning of course, but the day-to-day smudges are not nearly so apparent. We love our new kitchen and are looking forward to working with VKB on as many as three additional projects, master bath, guest bath and powder room. VKB may not be the least expensive renovation specialist, but we can say that we got out money’s worth, otherwise, why would we consider hiring them for additional projects in our home. We’ve included a number of pictures of the kitchen before and after the renovation. As you can see from the before and after pictures, it was quite an amazing transformation.

VKB did an outstanding job from beginning to end with our full kitchen remodel. Joe Zouine set the stage with the initial consultation by providing great feedback out of the gate on what could look good and overall guidance based on his initial view of our kitchen. We had ideas in mind and Joe just took it and made it a reality. Joe meticulously took us through the process and provided clear expectations of what would happen throughout. Joe did the legwork around the design but has expertise in construction and structure which allowed him to skillfully, and on the fly, provide thoughtful and functional recommendations to us. Joe incorporated our vision and was vocal in his opinions on what would work well and not based on his experience. This trait was invaluable to the success of our remodel. We hired VBK for their expertise and feedback, not to just implement what we had in mind. VKB has an outstanding showroom which allowed us to spend time to select everything and have Joe provide us with the estimate while we were there. VKB is a well oiled machine and orchestrated the resources needed to effectively and efficiently execute the remodel. Antonio and Pedro where our primary workers throughout our remodel. Their professionalism and hard work were unparalled and a real pleasure to work with. They also provided their input and expertise in areas requiring discussion with us. Again – this expertise was a key component to the success of our remodel and a key trait that VKB brings to the table. As we neared closure of our project, there were areas that required some follow-up and VKB quickly addressed the issues and concerns. If you want a kitchen remodel to be done with skill, high professionalism, and in an efficient manner, look no further than VBK to make that happen!
