VKB Kitchen & Bath

First of all: Since our decision to use this company was largely based on this website one has to wonder why 200 other customers were treated better than we were. How can the same project manager (Daniel) who oversaw our remodel provide great communication to one customer but not another? How can the lead technician (Jose) do such an outstanding job at one house and then, during the same week, install a range hood less than 10 inches from the cooking surface of our stove? One has to wonder whether some of these great reviews are real people. Because our experience with VKB mirrors the reviews that we gave no credence when we took almost a month to research the company before signing the contract late last year. Those customers who we labeled as being overly picky, difficult to work with, or just plain lunatics, were actually telling the truth. So, here's a little background: With the exception of the demo this remodel has been plagued by a series of avoidable mistakes and, with the exception of the time we went on vacation for a month in July, delays. I say avoidable because with better listening, measuring, design, communication, management, and workmanship, this project would have been done in the specified 30 to 45 days. And the company would have likely made a profit. As it stands now, nearing the end of August, VKB has lost money. And we don't have a completed kitchen. Nor are we likely to any time soon. Looking back we should have pulled the plug on the whole thing when we became aware that the project manager was not on the jobsite to oversee what was being done. He wasn't here to notice that the laborers hired to install new circuits were splicing into existing aluminum wiring. That was left to me to explain when I came home late on a Friday from a business trip. I had another opportunity to end it then when the same workers I sent home that day showed up to resume the next morning. Nor was he around when the county came to inspect the framing; he left that task to my wife. As I complete this review almost a year after the project completion on September 28, 2017 we have not had any issues other than seals on some of the plumbing work, both of which I was able to address without calling VKB. We love our new kitchen but will attest that the six months it took to complete was unacceptable and could have been avoided with proper management. We would absolutely never hire this company again.

We were thrilled with VKB's professional services. We pulled multiple bids and VKB was a pretty easy choice. They were able to start the job quickly and were in tune with our needs. Joe was our designer, and he has a strong vision. And truth be told, we didn't end up going with Joe's design 100%, but what that means is that Joe did a great job of incorporating our ideas into the project - and he had some design ideas that weren't on our radar when we had started that we're glad we incorporated in the project. Jason was the project supervisor, and did a good job of communicating with us on the progress of the work. And best of all was our chief handyman, Edgar - he did fantastic work, showed our family professionalism and kindness and we are proud to show off the work to guests. Thanks VKB!

VKB did an excellent job with our master bath remodel. From start to finish, everyone we dealt with from VKB was super professional, courteous and informative. Deniz came to our house to give us our free quote and he was quite spot on with his estimate. He took the time to give us 2 different bathroom designs and made sure we were happy with that he proposed. He was very honest and up front when it came to giving advice about choosing tiles and vanity counter tops. Deniz was also very accommodating and patient when we would change our mind about one of our choices. On the very first day of the remodel, Deniz was at our house to introduce us to VKB's Lead Remodeling Person, Jason, the Lead contractor and the rest of the contractors. Jason is an absolute pleasure to speak with; he carefully explained how the re-model process will work and made sure we had his cell just in case we had any questions or concerns. Our Lead Contractor, Edgar, was just as nice and informative. Both he and Jason asked us everyday if we had any questions or concerns. Any issues we had (ie. we had a cracked bullnose tile, one of our cabinet drawers came with a scratch), they were both very quick to address and fix. I will say that our shower door took a while to get done and finally installed, but we actually didn't mind because Jason, Edgar and even Deniz made sure that we were fully informed regarding the delays. They were honest and didn't pull any punches. Everyone in VKB definitely deserves an A++ when it comes to customer service! They definitely made sure that we were happy with the work they provided. We are looking forward to them remodeling our powder room.

It went very well. Everyone we worked with was wonderful. From scheduling appointments to choose materials, working in their showroom with the staff there to the crews that came out to work in our home, everything was great. Everyone was responsive and polite and got the job done. On time, on budget. The crews that came to the house kept everything as clean as the possibly could and were fantastic about cleaning up every single thing when they left every evening. Even offered to work on the weekends to make sure they finished on time!

I am a very happy, repeat VKB Kitchen & Bath customer. They updated my kitchen just a year ago and have recently updated two of my bathrooms (my master bath work is underway). My designer, Deniz, genuinely has an eye for design and knows how to make a bathroom unique and to my taste. Jason, my project leader, is great to work with and he too knows his stuff! He professionally managed the stages of construction and the crew. Jason is always available to answer my questions and resolve any issues. The VKB Kitchen & Bath staff have always treated me respectfully and they are all skilled, trustworthy, and efficient. I'm loving my new bathrooms!

Everything went as planned. Junior Wizzard was excellent. He was my point person throughout the entire project. Very professional and responsive. He and Deniz came up with a blueprint and were open to my requests and very aware of my budget concerns. Polo Zelaya was the project manager during the renovation. He was very attentive and kept me well informed of the progress and details of the project. He would often ask to work weekends to keep the project moving. He would also communicate with me directly which was vey helpful because I had to work during the renovation..

This was a terrific experience from beginning to end. We got exactly what we wanted at the price we hoped to pay. In fact, the quality of the materials was much better than we expected. We worked with designer Khalid, whose ability to find the kinds of things we wanted and the style we liked simply astounded us. He's an artist! Then Jason, the project manager, stayed on top of all of the work and ensured that everything was finished within the time frame we had been given. How often does that happen with large-scale projects like this one? Plus, Jason was extremely pleasant to work with (he even established a friendly relationship with my mother-in-law, who doesn't speak English) and made himself available at any time when there was a question or an issue. We couldn't recommend VKB more strongly!

The job turned out fantastic. Daniel our Project Manager was great and stayed in contact with me through out the job. I am a contractor Myself so not the easiest of clients but Daniel was responsive to my evening calls if I saw something we didn't care for or if there was something different than what we had expected and acted on the any of these small issues the next day. The finish product is everything we hoped it would be and we will be in touch with VKB again soon looking to take care of our master bathroom.

When we finally decided the first major remodel in our 1963 rancher would be the guest bathroom with wall to wall salmon colored tile, we did several months of research before selecting VKB. We appreciated their package pricing, which included several items that other contractors wanted to charge extra for – tearing down to the studs floor to ceiling rather than just patching the walls where the tile had been; a niche in the shower; waterproof membrane on the cement board; replacing the door and sill plate, adding trim, and painting. There were a few fits and starts at the beginning with the designer, but once we got to the actual start date for demolition, from then on we were talking directly to the project manager and things went great from there. Working with Polo was the best part of the project! He was very proactive in communicating with us, and took care of every issue that came up during construction. He was always available to answer our questions. Edgar, the job site manager, was also great. He consulted with us along the way to be sure what they were doing was what we wanted, discussing several changes that came up during the construction process to make sure we were happy with them. All of the team members who came in and out were respectful of our house (and the cats locked in the basement), and did good work. The part that was more challenging than we had expected it to be was the interaction with the designer. He was very personable and spent a good deal of time with us selecting the tiles, cabinet finish, and countertop, but after that we felt like we were largely on our own. Although he said several times he would send us links to select the remaining items, he did not. We ended up researching fixtures and other finishes ourselves. Fortunately we really had a good idea of our style and what we wanted it to look like, but one of the reasons we had wanted to contract the job out instead of doing it ourselves was so that we would have someone to rely on to narrow down the million choices and help us make the final decisions. The frustrations we had during the planning phase were redeemed by the positive interactions we had with the construction crew members, and the quality of the final product. We would work with VKB again, especially if we can request Polo as our project manager.

Junior Wizzard is very professional and designed a beautiful bathroom. He guided us through our selections every step of the way. Unfortunately, we ran into quite a few bumps in the demolition and construction. The project manager was not responsive and did not check on his crew. The workmanship was sloppy and had the project manager check on the workers some of the issues we encountered would have been prevented. To their credit VKB corrected all issues and in the end made sure we were completely satisfied. A two to three project ended up taking six weeks.

All went as promised, done in 2 weeks! Good selections from Khalid, project manager Jason Freeman kept everything on track and kept an eye on quality. Crew was polite and efficient, cleaned up everyday, especially at end. Final product is excellent.

VKB did a beautiful job on our kitchen renovation - due to the craftsmanship and versatility of Jose Melendez, the onsite Crew Lead. His is a skilled professional and his team has a great work ethic. We are entirely pleased with the results. Mr. Melendez is a valuable asset at VKB.

The VKB team that remodeled my kitchen were outstanding. Polo, the on-site Project Manager stayed on top of everything and did a terrific job in managing every aspect of the work. The headaches I had anticipated never materialized because of his focus on making sure the project was done professionally and efficiently. He managed the work of other VKB employees (Antonio, Jose, and Juan are the names I remember.) who were very conscientious, professional and personable. They arrived on time every day, protected my home as much as possible form the inevitable dust and dirt, cleaned up each day after finishing work, and ensured I was getting things done the way I wanted them. Polo and his entire team did an outstanding job. I would recommend VBK to anyone who is considering having their kitchen or bath remodeled. VKB has a customer satisfaction objective that is more than what they say, it is what they do. Experience them for yourself. I think you'll be happy with the results. I am!

Update (8/9/17): It took several unsuccessful attempts to fix the granite in our kitchen before VKB finally agreed to replace the granite. The new countertops were finished properly. A few other minor matters were also taken care of. We now have the kitchen that we had hoped for.

My experience with the people over at VKB Kitchen & Bath was a really great one and they are wonderful people. The project manager Mr. Jason that I have is very efficient, very diligent, hardworking, very professional, great guy and It was very pleasant doing business with Mr. Jason. The designer that I had by Mr. Junior was great and he was very professional . The guys who came out to do the work at my home were great and did really great work. Very impressed with product, service, delivery - everything!!!. I highly recommend VKB Kitchen & Bath services to all!!!!!

Scheduling appointment, measurements, and coming to terms handled easily and directly. Took them longer to get parts than they initially expected. At installation, they determined the sill of my shower should be repaired/refurbished prior to installing doors (they could not make that assessment until the old doors were removed. They did not insist, but recommended strongly repairing a few cracked tiles -- this was professional advise from the installer, which I took. We rescheduled the installation for the next week, I accomplished the repair myself over the weekend). The actual install found the shower walls were approx. 3/8" out of plumb -- but the installation went well. A slight miscommunication about final payment (I expected a final invoice, but did not receive one) was corrected with a simple phone call.

We are very happy with all of the work performed by the team at VKB. Calvin Lee (Design) did a great job helping us transform our plans into reality. Jason Freeman (Project Manager) did an amazing job keeping us informed and responding to all of our concerns. Eddie (Construction Lead) and his team did outstanding work. They worked hard, were punctual and paid attention to the details. Really can't say enough about how happy we were with the whole experience with working with VKB.

CONSULTATION: We had decided on a remodel (tear down/rebuild) of our small upstairs bathroom. Having never had any work done, we had a good number of questions and concerns ready for our meeting with Deniz but also didn't know all of the questions we should have been asking. Luckily, Deniz was very thorough. He stayed for two hours on a Friday evening, taking notes, giving his advice, and preparing us for different scenarios while never making us feel like we needed to rush. Having already met with two other companies whose consultations lasted only 20 minutes and answered only the questions we had prepared, we immediately saw how VKB was different than others in the business: They care enough to take the time with their customers. It had been a week since meeting with those other companies and we had not yet received a follow-up call, but by the time Deniz left our house, we already had a meeting set up to go to VKB's showroom 4 days later on a day/time that was convenient for us. SHOWROOM: We liked the idea of coming to a showroom to pick from the available options versus doing all of the running around ourselves the way we would have with other companies. We also got to see a 3D rendering of our future bathroom, which helped us to visualize the end result. Deniz assisted us with making selections that would coordinate well while staying within our budget. PROJECT MANAGER: Our project manager, Jason, was very involved and always available to answer questions we had throughout the duration of the project. Jason stopped by almost everyday, taking time out of his busy schedule to see how the work was progressing and to do quality checks. On the days that he didn't stop by, he would call to make sure that we were satisfied with the work that was completed that day. Jason cared about the project as if it were his own bathroom being worked on. He takes pride in his team's work and wants the homeowner to feel the same pride in the final result. His customer service skills are above and beyond. REMODEL TEAM: These guys are friendly, diligent workers who know what they are doing and do it exceptionally well. They took care in the process and finished the project sooner than expected. They also kept everything as clean as possible while working. We are writing this review the same day the project was finished because could not be happier with our new bathroom! The difference is remarkable. We have a lot more work to be done in our house and will not waste time consulting with other companies in the future--we will come straight to VKB.

I looked at several of Angie’s List top firms for kitchen and bathrooms and invited three to the house for estimates. One reason I chose VKB initially was that its website had a diverse clientele in its pictures, instead of all whites. That was important to me. But it was our designer, Junior Wizzart who really sealed the deal on my choice of VKB from the contractors I interviewed. From Junior’s first visit to our house, he listened carefully, offered suggestions, and helped me to realize our vision for these renovations. We had numerous conversations at our home, in their showroom, and on the phone. He was responsive, creative and very attentive to the details. On a daily basis, we appreciate the difference some of Junior’s suggestions made because they make our kitchen not just beautiful but easy to use and easy to entertain. Jason was our primary project manager and we quickly had confidence in him as well. He was excellent at communicating with us what we would expect day- to-day; we had nightly text and/or phone calls so we were prepared for the crew’s activities. He was sensitive to making sure our two cats were always safe and secure, the workplace was cleaned each evening, and that we were pleased with their work. In one bathroom, we ran into a glitch related to the house itself, and we all discussed before we moved forward with the solution. VKB’s work crews were excellent. Jose was clearly their leader, is incredibly competent, and did a wonderful job. Overall, we are incredibly happy with Junior, Jason, Jose, and VKB. Their price was reasonable and the quality of the work was excellent. We would use them again and have already recommended them to others. In fact, a colleague who knew our original kitchen and baths was totally astounded by their work and has already asked for Junior’s contact information. Finally, more than once every single day, we marvel at how they transformed our home.

Both remodeling projects went well. Just recently had a bathroom remodel in the basement. Since the kitchen project in 2015 went well, I used VKB again for a bathroom remodel, specifically for my mom, who has a number of health issues. Although, the price was more than what I anticipated spending, I knew it would be a quality job, based on the kitchen project. My sales rep (Junior Wizard), who was also the sales rep for the kitchen, was extremely helpful in my selections and choices, he was involved at the onset and end of the projects. The project manager (Jason Freeman), who oversaw the bathroom remodel was hands on with the construction team and made certain that every sf and dimension were exact. He was customer service driven, and understood my minor tweaks to the project. Very please with the bathroom remodel.

We want to express how pleased we are with the design advice, ongoing communication, and craftsmanship of the staff and crew at VKB. Our job was a bit more complex as it involved floor plan changes with plumbing moves. Jason was always accessible to answer our questions, insisting we could call him anytime night or day. Each morning, Ervin and the crew asked if we had any concerns about the job and even anticipated some of our questions. There were a couple structural and design challenges, but the team came through with viable solutions. The crew was neat and courteous, taking measures to protect our floors and to keep the dust down, and thoroughly cleaning-up each day. With all the details involved in a project like this, there could be many chances for miscommunication and misunderstanding. But the VKB team, with their open line of communication, made sure every detail was understood and taken care of. We are extremely happy with our beautiful new bathroom!

Wonderful! Project finished timely and excellent job! Selected VKB again after the did an excellent job in my kitchen. Starting off Amanda came through with the design of the bathrooms. Once again I gave her little details and she created the design for two dream bathrooms. Amanda's magic made my dream bathrooms come true. Amanda listens to your ideas and she remarkably expands them to create a masterpiece! Then Jason what a perfect manager! Jason is superb at customer service! He ensures the the job is completed on time and accurately. Anytime I had a question Jason was right there.his timely response make him an asset to the company. Jason took lead for a while in the project and did not miss a beat. My team at VKB was wonderful in making my dream come true.

We are so pleased with how our kitchen turned out. The VKB Team turned our tiny, poorly-lit kitchen into an enormous, glowing masterpiece. It’s hard to believe it’s actually part of the same house. VKB went above and beyond on every aspect of the renovation. From the first time we walked into the showroom, Junior and Joe were there to guide and advise us on our renovation. Junior listened to the details of what we wanted and helped us choose the elements that fit our tastes. Joe helped us realize the possibilities of the space and designed a gorgeous kitchen. The level of detail put into the design process and concern for how we would use the space were always a top priority. Joe met us at one of the local granite suppliers and helped us choose the perfect piece of granite. Junior visited our home and checked all the “little details” to ensure the work met VKB standards and would last for years. From start to finish, the knowledge and concern was evident. Jason was our project manager. We’ve done another major renovation in the past and we hardly ever heard from that project manager, so our expectations were not high in this regard. Jason set the standard for how a job should be managed and how to meet expectations. He was in contact with us almost daily, ensuring we were satisfied with how the renovation was progressing and asking if we had any questions or concerns. Additionally, David and every other crewmember were so polite and helpful. Even our neighbors commented on how courteous the construction crew was to them. We can’t say enough good things about Jason and the crew. It wasn’t just customer service, it was true customer care. The level of attention to detail and the quality of work is above reproach. Even in areas where it would be easy to cut a corner, the VKB crew did the job right. Living in the house through the construction process allowed us to examine the work nightly. We were thrilled to see everything was being done so well, from protecting surfaces to taping off the living areas to prevent the spread of excess dust. No detail was missed. If we had a concern, Jason addressed it promptly and happily. Our kitchen is magazine-worthy and we look forward to spending time in it with family and friends over the coming years. Thanks to the VKB team for giving us a kitchen that makes our house feel like a home.

Great. Jason was project manager. He was professional and responsive. They sincerely want to make your job done as fast as it's possible. I'm happy with all the work, timing and cleanliness. Will not hesitate to call and ask their work again.
