Description of Work: The service provider rescheduled our first appointment due to an emergency, and he had to be out of town. We agreed for Monday, Aug. 26 between 8:30 - 9:00 am. When he did not show up, I called, and he said that our appointment was scheduled for 10:30 am. When he arrived, he apologized, and gave me the excuse that he probably did agree for 8:30 am, but wrote down in his book for 10:30 am. I showed him the ceiling and wall that I want his crews to repatch and resand, then repaint the entire room. He measured the room, and told me that I needed to pay additional money for repainting the room, and also for the ceiling. I was fine with paying more money, but when he said that it doesn't cover the trim and his crew won't tape the border between the ceiling and the wall that when I got annoyed because it said on the advertisement that the cost covers taping. When I reread the ad again, then I found out that the deal does not cover the trim, which I swear, it did before, and it was on the contract, but he crossed it out. After the estimate and we agreed on the date, I sat down and thought about it, this is not a big deal as they advertised. I would like to get my refund back, and hire a different contractor for the job.

Description of Work: 2 men came prepared to work with dropcloths and all supplies except the paint which we provided. Most of the furniture we had moved already so they just needed to help with a few things, they painted, cleaned up and finished in am orderly and timely manner.

Description of Work: I decided not to have this service because what I expected to be a deal for painting 3 rooms became a deal to paint two rooms. According to Angie's list I can't go back to see the deal once it has expired, but according to the supplier, there was a maximum of 500 sq feet included with the 3 rooms. My small townhouse rooms were over this limit. I think the ad was a bit misleading but I don't remember the fine print. I was very pleased with the gentleman who came to my house from the company to measure.

Description of Work: After purchasing the big deal I was waiting for a phone call but never received one. After about a week I was on my account on Angie's List and saw that there was an email from them. I had no idea you could get email that way. After some discussion and because they are so overwhelmed with other Big Deal buyers, the service provider could not perform the task for another few months. We need the painting to be done a lot sooner than that so that is why we need a refund to look elsewhere. The service provider was very nice but it just isn't working out. I believe that if a provider can not fulfill a lot of work at a time then they should not offer any big deals.

Description of Work: I had no problem with the company. Our family felt that we couldn't afford to have a contractor perform the amount of work we wanted for the price being asked. That is all. I liked Joel, and felt he was perfectly professional when he came out to do the walk through. It just came down to price.

Description of Work: Not sure what happened but shows it poor management to offer and accept a coupon to Angies List customers and then simply say they will no longer provide the service even though the coupon says no expiration date and no explanation. I would not use this company in the future.

Description of Work: I was excited to book the painter for a day deal, however after multiple calls and emails attempting to schedule a time for the service to be rendered, I still was unable to get Definition Painting Services to respond and commit to a date and time. First, I emailed the company and asked to set up a time to come out and paint two small bedrooms in our home. Joel Alvarez, the owner of the small business, replied asking for our address and said that he would "get back to me with when I'll come out." I responded with our address, let him know we were flexible and asked when we could plan on seeing him. I emailed and called a few times after that, but never got a response. At this point, we're in a bit of a time crunch and don't wish to keep waiting. When I emailed Angie's List to see if we could get the deal refunded, your site promptly responded with this link. I have been extremely pleased with Angie's list and the services/promptness that you've provided, I just don't wish to work with Definition Painting as they haven't been professional in responding to the service we purchased.

Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal: $219 to secure assistance from an interior painter for 8 hours. As per Angie's List directions I contacted the vendor. A gentleman answered and asked me to send an e-mail identifying my coupon code, my address, my name, contact information, what I would like done and a possible time frame. He told me someone would get back with me that same day. I did as instructed. True to his word, someone did call me back. However, I was asked repeatedly (rather loudly), if I'd purchased the offer for 1 painter or 2. I repeatedly responsed to indicate I'd purchased the deal for a single painter. The gentleman told me someone would be calling me back the same day to schedule. No one ever did. That was 6 days ago. Since then, I've courteously sent an e-mail as a tickler to insure I'd not fallen off the grid and I later made a phone call to Definitition Painters. To date I have no written repsonse and the phone call was met with someone talking in a raised tone of voice using a foreign language. As a result, I am opting to cancel this deal.

Description of Work: Joel, the contact person said he would meet me at 730 am on Friday to give me an estimate. I arrived at my house and called him at 745 when I didn't see him. He sounded like he was sleeping. He said there was an emergency with a truck and he couldn't get a ride. There was no courtesy to let me know that he couldn't make it and he couldn't understand why I was upset. He was unprofessional as he was giving me attitude instead of apologizing so I passed on their services.

Description of Work: After getting the coupon code, I emailed the service provider as indicated. I waited 5 days and did not receive a response. I called and talked to the Point of Contact. He said he was away from the office and can I call back tomorrow at 11. I also sent him a text message to his phone as requested with my name and contact information. Then next day I called at 11am and I spoke with him again. He said he would get back to me to schedule. He never called.

Description of Work: These guys are really professionals. They were great at scheduling and completing this job. I purchased the big deal and it really was! They painted the whole apartment.

Description of Work: I contacted the provider, Mr. Joel Alvarado, by phone and he said the cancellation was ok with him but to call Angie's List to do the cancellation. He was friendly and agreeable.

Description of Work: I was trying to set a date for the service thru e-mail with the service provider, which is the provider's preferred method of comunicating, but that was taking too long. In the meantime my priorities changed and that is why I am cancelling my order.

Description of Work: I purchased a special deal. The specialist painted 2 bedrooms. He surveyed the space and estimated the time the job would take exactly, His painting was clear, precise and excellent. This review is an easy one. I would rate my entire experience EXCELLENT!
