The contractor sent an email to suggest a date of service. I replied to the email to confirm. But on the morning of the specified date I called and found out that the email wasn't received, and therefore had to schedule another date. So scheduling a date was a bit of a nuisance. But a worker showed up and did the job professionally and I didn't have any issues with it. The price was reasonable too.

We are getting ready to sell our town house so needed the interior painted a neutral, light color. We have already moved out so the house was empty and I had gone ahead and done some prep work myself (ie patching nail holes in the wall). I bought an Angie's List deal (2 painters for 8 hours) and was able to schedule them to come out fairly quickly. The guys arrived within the window I was given and were very polite and professional. I showed them what I wanted done with the knowledge I had only purchased 8 hours of work. I told them the priority in which the rooms should be painted and left them to do their work. Toward the end of the eight hours, they called me to ask if I wanted them to continue or just finish up so I would not be charged extra (which I appreciated). I went to the house to see what had been done before making my decision. They had managed to complete one coat in the two bedrooms upstairs, the entire hall and stairway, the foyer, the kitchen and two coats in both the living and dining rooms. They had left out all three of the bathrooms and the finished basement (which I was ok with since they were already painted a neutral color suitable for selling a house). There are definitely some spots in the rooms that did not get two coats that can use some touching up, but I knew I was only going to get a certain amount of time for the $450 deal and I am happy with the outcome. They did the heavy lifting, so I can just go back and touch up a few spots that need it (nothing major). They were also very neat- I saw no splatters on the floors or carpets, and the areas around the trim and ceilings were neatly painted. All in all, I was very happy with the work Definition did and would definitely consider hiring them again to do work in our new house.

My interior needed painting and after seeing the special"big" deal on Angies list, I used the opportunity to get the work done. My house was larger than the special and I also opted to also have the ceilings and trim painted while the walls were getting a fresh coat. The estimate and pricing was fair and the estimate process was very thorough and professional. I was even given the discounted rate to have the additional work done. We had a small glitch with scheduling- the work was supposed to be done on 1/7 but ended up being done on 1/9. (A minor adjustment.) The painters arrived on time and got to work. They were professional and applied ample plastic to protect my cabinets and furniture, The paint job was good but after arriving home later that evening I found a few small tweaks. A piece of trim was missed and another portion of trim was painted the wall color instead of the trim color. I called back and Mr. Alvarado and the crew returned the next day to make the touch ups and finalize the job. I was happy to see him stand by the work and ensure that the painters understood the little details to make the customer happy. In the end, the paint job looks great and I would recommend working with the company for future painting needs. Thanks!

The process had fits and starts in terms of scheduling the day, etc., however it ultimately worked out.

Following a paint palette selected by a color consultant, Definition painted the public areas of our home. They were following after a well meaning but low skill contractor who painted our entire first floor for $800 in 1999 as an add-on to a major renovation. Those guys did NO prep and painted latex over oil paint. This created many peeling problems for Definition to correct. Work also included repair of damages to window casing from a past window replacement project. The prep and level of finish make a world of difference in the appearance of the house. Definition took care to protect our stuff (not like the $800 guys who used our chairs as ladders, and left paint spatters everywhere) and did great daily clean-up. After this work, seeing the care they took with our home, and learning about their other capabilities, we hired them for a major exterior project. They worked quickly, cleaned up well and made a huge difference in the curb appeal of our place. It wasn't their fault that we decided not to use their suggested gutter guy and were still waiting on our selected gutter provider to install new, wider gutters when Tropical Storm Irene hit. That wasn't fun, at all! We had two problems. One was that we asked them to scrape the old (non-replacement) windows so we'd have a hope of closing them. That existing problem got worse, but we didn't ask for warrantee work since we plan to also replace those. The other problem was so small that, as I write this, I can't even remember what it was. That took a few call backs to get them to drop off the (something) These guys do great work., Use them without hesitation.

They managed to paint the entire interior of my 3 story house in less than 8 hours and did an excellent job. I'd recommend them to anyone.

The man doing the work arrived as scheduled. I had been informed that the homeowner was to provide the material needed so I had the supplies. The man reviewed what I had bought and decided what he had brought would work better. There was an additional charge for the supplies but the cost was not out of line with what I would have paid at the store. The work was done quickly with minimum mess. The job took a bit longer than the original estimate which added to the cost, which seemed very reasonable. Overall this was a very satisfactory experience.

Everything about the experience went well. I met with the owner of the company first, who looked over everything and gave me his estimate. He told me the paint and primer I'd need to buy, and where I could buy it nearest my home, including how to use his professional discount at the store. His workers came on time, cleaned up well, and behaved professionally. I had selected the wrong color of paint for the bathroom ceiling, and they had to repaint it in a lighter color, which they did quickly and beautifully. Everything looks terrific. We'll be glad to use this company again.

Response to original request was prompt and very satisfactory with the owner of the company. Work date was set, and workers were prompt upon arrival. Workers prepared the areas satisfactorily, and worked with focus, attention to detail, and accomplished a great deal of work each day. Work group leader checked in with me prior to leaving to ensure that I was satisfied with the work.

I found Mr. Alvarado to be very prfoessional and enthusiastic during the meeting for the estimate. The two young men that showed up to do the painting were polite but seemed determined to do the job quickly rather than expertly. They didn't seem to notice the drip marks they were leaving as they rushed through the job. They also left paint drips on doors and stair rails and paint on the ceiling which was not being painted. I pointed out many of the drip marks and asked the to fix them, which they did. Unfortunately I noticed many more drips and the marks on the ceiling after they had cleaned up and left.

The work was done very carefully and efficiently.

This was a prepaid arrangement through Angie's List, and we ended up spending as much on paint as on the labor cost, and we ended up buying more than actually was used. The job was good, better than the original paint job, and a few spots where paint was left and dripped. They also painted over the few nails we left behind instead of removing them and/or patching them. The main reason why we wouldn't use them again is because of prepayment, and we felt like we were nickel and dimed once they had our money. We would have negotiated more on the front end for what was included in the prepayment.

Went well overall. Was not expecting to pay more for trim or ceiling, but the job got done well.

Joel Alvarado, the owner, was very quick about getting back to me after I inquired about getting an estimate. I then realized that my Angie's List "Big Deal" coupon had just expired, but he said he would honor it! We had asked about getting additional work on top of the work stipulated in the coupon, and I'm so glad we did. They showed up on time for both the estimate and the actual work, were friendly, worked around my curious and clumsy dog, they were fast, and they cleaned up as if they were never there. The painting itself was top-notch...no streaks or globs or uneven lines. One of our rooms to be painted needed a lot of prep work and they just happily scraped, plastered, and primed, and while all of that was drying, they just moved on to another room. Joel really seems to understand the mystery equation of # of people needed for a job, and how many hours it would take, and he hit the nail on the head. I really enjoyed having them around, and couldn't be more pleased with their work.

They were excellent; precise and professional. They covered all of the exposed surfaces and floors with drop cloths and taped the rooms so that their painting lines were crisp and did not meander. They obviously took a great deal of pride in their work and their expertise. They were prompt, courteous, and professional.

This went very well. Scheduling the work was relatively straightforward. The company requested that I email them the Angies List Big Deal Coupon prior to the work, and I did that. On the day of the work, the technician arrived early (imagine that!) and was very professional. The work was done in less than the time quoted and the work looks great. After completing the work, he carefully cleaned the area whuch was great.

They were able to come out when we needed them and complete within the time frame. His estimate of how much paint we would need was accurate. My only complaints were that I had to ask them to paint the switch plates after they put them back on (they had been previously painted so had the old color on them) which seemed pretty obvious to me. And in 2 rooms there were tight area between corners/door frames that were not painted - would have required a small brush and I didn't notice until a few weeks later.

I contacted the company at least four times in a two week span by e-mail and by phone to schedule the services and did not hear back until after the expiration date of the coupon. By that time I had already contacted Angie's List to get my refund for the $450.00. I don't know how good their painting services are but I can tell you that their customer service is not good! I will say that $450 is a good price but it doesn't matter how inexpensive it is if the work doesn't get completed. When I did speak with the company on the phone I had a hard time understanding his english and he said that he had been sick. I would not recommend this company unless they have changed their customer service protocol.

Everything was completed as I expected and the quality of the work was excellent. I would recommend this company for any painting needs.

Two painters arrived at my house on time. They stayed and painted exactly what I asked them to paint. They took a lot of care to cover my furniture and fixtures to protect them while they painted. Finally the walls and ceiling looked great and they cleaned up after themselves completely. I'd hire them again to paint in my home anytime.

This is the 3rd time I've used definition painting... A+ every time. Clean, consistent, beautiful painting, and FAST! Joel is great as well. Will continue to use and refer them!

The painters were late which had me concerned about their ability to finish the job on time. The painters started in the bedrooms upstairs and painted the entire upstairs and downstairs. I have a three bedroom house, and the two painters worked very effectively to paint all three upstairs bedrooms, the stairs, the living room and dining room downstairs, and even the kitchen. The did leave some spots on the trim, which I had to go back and corret, but I think all and all they did a very good job. I would definately recommend them and use them in the future.

This was an awful experience and I would NOT hire this company again. They are very hard to get hold of, there is no manager/supervisor reviewing work, you're lucky if you get painters that can speak english and communicate with you, I was just thankful to get them out of the house. I had to have them come back and fix some problem areas and luckily had not paid them 100% for their work so I was able to get them to come back. Owner wanted the last payment given to him before he proceeded to do the fix work. I had to politely tell him he would get final payment when the job was done completely and satisfactorily. He ended up doing the work to correct paint job mistakes. They did not clean up each day as promised. The estimates for amount of paint needed was too high so I only purchased what the paint store recommended for the square footage I had and I still had paint left over. Buyer Beware. In response to the contractors' response, funny that other contractors were still working when the storm hit - as long as I had power, they could still work. I even contacted this contractor immediately before the storm and asked if he would still be coming to start the job with this storm coming and his response was YES. This contractor seemed to have scheduling and communications problems from beginning to end. Calls to contractors' phone number went unanswered and his voicemail box was full so you couldn't leave a message. An email to the contractor also went unanswered. The wall repairs that were done on this job were reviewed and agreed to at the initial walk-through of the job. I had to request that the painters come back and fix a botched paint job which they did. Just unnecessary time spent chasing this contractor down.
