I emailed Definition Painting about the job and Joel was able to come over the next Saturday to provide an estimate. He seemed very personable and knowledgeable. I was impressed by how Joel approached the paint job of the master bath. There was a mildew problem in the bathroom and he seemed to be very knowledgeable on how to approach the issue in the best possible way. I also felt he made a very good recommendation on how to approach the drywall repair issue so the seam would not show through again. I thought his price might have been a bit on the high side at first but a second estimate confirmed that he was right in the ballpark. I confirmed with Joel and we agreed on a date for the work to be done. The two painters showed up on time and worked a long day until they completed the job. They seemed to have been provided good instruction and were careful and did a good job. One of the two painters was the leader and there was one assistant helper. Although the helper did not speak any English it was not a problem. They cleaned up carefully and were respective of non-working areas.

It was an excellent experience. Joel gave us an estimate, performed the work as he explained and left. I highly recommend this company.

Scheduling the work was somewhat difficult and convoluted. First I called to make the appointment but was directly told to email and someone would respond about scheduling. About a week later I got an email in response saying, we had an appointment for X date (without requesting available dates and times with me, or first checking if their proposed date would work). I emailed in response that their chosen date would not work and that we needed to schedule another. I never received a response, and had to call back myself a few weeks later. At that time I was able to make a prompt appointment. My only other complaint is that for this project I was to buy the plaster mix. The description of what I was to buy that was given over the phone (while I thought it sounded complete) was not helpful. Ended up, I bought the wrong stuff (and the other materials I otherwise had on hand were also no good) so I had to shell out more money to use the mix the workman had in his vehicle. Those complaints aside, the work was very well priced, very well done and the workman was very efficient and professional.

Terrifcic job. Workers did flush something down my toilet which made the system back up into my basement. That was a problem. But the quality of work was superior.

The man who came was professional and on time, however they made us buy our own supplies on top of the $99 fee and then ended up charging us even more because one of the things we bought wasn't the right brand, even though they didn't tell us what brand to buy before hand. However, that aside, they did a good job and the walls look great now.

Excellent workmanship. Two painters showed up on time and completed this large amount of work in one long work day. They did quality work, where polite and cleaned up the mess. I will definitely use this company again.

A small glitch in not getting a call to set things up until I followed up, but everything else was as good as could be. I would happily use them again.I bought a "Big Deal" & sent required info for a call. It didn't come until shortly after I followed up with Angie's List. Omar arrived as agreed and went right to work doing a lot of work and doing it very thoroughly. I was very pleased with his work, workmanship and professionalism. I would certainly use them again.

The two painters were excellent and the owner, who came out and estimated the job, was very courteous and professional. The concern I have is the advertising of the job. Three rooms for $450 dollars is misleading. I didn't know, and I'm sure most people don't know, that when they say "rooms" it doesn't include the roof and inside the closets. I only had two rooms painted, and, because the roof and closet space were not counted as part of a room, the final price was more than $450. It was still reasonable, but it's misleading and should be better explained up-front.

I provided the paint and the painters arrived and worked until they finished the hallway, stairway, and landing of colonial house. We were very pleased with the work and the price. And they were able to reach the very high places that are difficult to reach without the right equipment.

They were extremely neat. The way they painted was also neat because the edges didn't smear. That is what I like most about their service.

Definition painting was very prompt and responsive. They called me back immediately after I left a message stating that I had bought an Angie's List Deal. We scheduled an appointment to do a walk through and to get a complete estimate. The owner came and took measurements. He was very upfront and used a formula to figure out the price vs. picking a number. He included in the price fixing major cracks in the ceiling and settlement cracks in the wall. I bought the paint myself, but he gave me a business card to show so that I got a MAJOR discount. While I was waiting for the paint, the lady helping me said she has seen Definition Painting's work before and they do a great job. On the day of the scheduled work, the crew arrived promptly. They knew exactly what to paint which color. That evening they gave me a call when they were almost done so that I could take a look at their work ( we were having the paining done is a house we are trying to sell). I came by and was impressed that they finished in one day. They did a great job fixing imperfections on the wall and did a good job defining the molding and trim work. The guys were very clean and even washed my floor when they were done. Overall it was a great, hassle free, experience.

Got an estimate, didn't like it because it was more than 3 times the amount of the deal purchased. No service was performed.

The real test of a contractor is what happens when things go poorly. Our experience had one of those, but Joel addressed it fairly and ethically. Joel came out and gave us an estimate for the work, which was quite reasonable for the amount of work involved. He let us pick the paint and gave us a contract and said once we sign and send a check, he would schedule his team. Based on some of the other reviews and based on the difficulty we had with reaching him to inform him of what our color choices were, we thought perhaps he wouldn't show up on time on the scheduled date, but his team did and got started immediately. The quality of their painting was great; you would never know how much repair of the drywall was performed, there were no drips or places where they forgot to paint, and absolutely no paint ended up on the floor. There was an issue we found after the work was completed in our family room. We were also in the middle of renovations and were partially complete with putting new hardwood flooring in our family room. One of the painters moved a ladder during the work and in the process gouged 3 planks of flooring. Joel took full accountability for the accident and repair. He told us he wouldn't accept full payment until the flooring was fixed, and to deduct the cost of repairs from the balance of the painting bill. I believe the ladder incident was an accident and his actions show his company's character, and based on that experience, I have no reservations about using Joel again.

Process went well from beginning to end. Includes providing the quote to placing furniture back and cleaning up.

Initial pricing meeting with Joel went fine. Scheduling did not go well as they did not show up on the day scheduled and I had to call to find out what was going on. They indicated there was some mix up and we agreed to another day which they did arrive on time to. This is the second I have used Defintions and the crews sent also do quality work. The end product looks very good.

The work itself is very good. The man who came to the house was very nice and obviously very good at his work. However, the problems lie with the owner. He is not very easy to reach. We were conversing over email some and he was very slow to respond. Additionally, he wanted me to buy the materials. I am hiring him to do the work. I have NO IDEA what materials are needed. Obviously drywall and glue of some sort, but again, this is his profession. So when the worker arrived, we ultimately drove to the store and picked out the materials together. Maybe this is standard in the business, but this seemed very, very odd to me and extremely unprofessional. *UPDATE* 2/12/2013 I am updating this based on the contractor's feedback. I am also lowering the grade. Again, the work itself was done very well; however, it appears that the owner does not even understand the terms of his own deal as I did read the fine print. Here is what the fine print says: Customer must provide large or costly materials (sheetrock, etc.) Contractor will provide basic materials such as drywall mud/spackle & drywall tape When the contractor arrived, and we drove to the store, we bought a large piece of drywall and some glue. The total cost was about $20-$30. So while the expense is not great, its obvious that this is not a "large or costly material" and is more along the lines of a "basic material." Hence, by the terms of the deal, the contractor should have paid this cost. I did not put up a big stink about it then, and am only doing so now because of the owner's comments.

Getting scheduled was a tiny bit challenging, and on the day of service, the repairman was running a little late. But he got to work right away, did a beautiful job, and cleaned up perfectly! Very skilled and professional job. I would definitely use them again.

The company provided a last minute estimate and excellent job. We changed the number of rooms to be painted the night before the job, but they were able to knock it out. The painters worked hard everyday, arriving at 0900 and leaving at 1900. The paint job was done extremely well. They also did the drywall prep and caulked the molding. Their price was competitive with other companies.

Total job took two guys about 3/4 of a day to get it done, and the work was done well. It was scheduled easily, they showed up on time, and they finished early. I did have to point out a couple areas that were missed in the first run through, but that took me 15 minutes of management and the job was done.

Joel came out and provided an estimate, He was on time and professional. The deal was 450 for 3 rooms (or equivalent sq footage). Due to the large size of room, high ceilings and walls, basically the foyer area was covered in the deal, but the hallway was deemed additional. He charged a very reasonable rate for the additional square feet - less than most companies charge. He gave me a written estimate, as well as the account number of his company to get a discount on the paint at Sherwin Williams, as paint was not included. When all was said and done the price was about half or less what you see many companies charging. They were a bit busy so the date was set up for 2 weeks out. On the day the work was to be done they were supposed to arrive at 8 am, but apparently got lost or stuck in traffic and did not get there until 8:20 - there was a bit of a communication issue on this, but it was a just a small annoyance. I was surprised that it was just one guy who was going to do the work, but left him with the keys and headed to work myself. He called me at around 1 pm to say he was finishing up. I got there about an hour later and he was all cleaned up. He left no mess and the job was very well done. I was pretty surprised that just one guy could finish it so quickly. Overall a great job and a very reasonable price. Very professional company.
