He arrived and got right to work. He followed the design instructions well. At one point we ran out of tape so I had to go out to get more, but he kept busy. The reason I gave them a C in responsiveness was that there were some communication difficulties with the scheduler. Phone messages and e-mails were not responded to promptly and we were in a bit of a time crunch. Final analysis: the job itself went well when it got started, I would use them again but call early to schedule.

It took about 3 calls to get through to them to ask about an appointment. When they did call back, they were very professional and advised that they do not service into VA. I have asked for a refund.

I bought the Angies List big deal for 2 painters for a day. 2 painters showed up the day of the service. Because the provider didn't come by to preview the job I had no idea how much they would be able to do in a day. I showed them the walls and ceiling of a hallway and the bathroom that I really needed them to paint. They were able to finish those in just over half of the day. I then showed them the living room. They seemed a little bit annoyed with me for asking them to do more, even though there was plenty of time left in the day. When they finished the living room I showed them the dining room. Again they seemed annoyed. I had prepared the walls upstairs by taking off the outlet covers and light switch covers. When I saw that they were going to make it to the living room I started taking down the curtains and off the outlet covers, but didn't finish. They just painted over the remaining covers without asking me if I would like to remove them. They also moved some of the furniture into the middle of the room, totally scratching my brand new wood floor. I was sad about that! Again they seemed in a hurry when they painted the dining room. Despite their hurry to finish, they didn't even stay the full 8 hours. They left after approximately 7 1/2 hours and one of the painters had been sitting in his car for part of the time. With that little extra time they could have been a little more careful with the outlet covers etc... I spoke with the owner afterwards. He mentioned that it is their policy that they don't move furniture. No one mentioned that to me until I spoke with the owner after the job. The owner said he would call me to talk about it further but I never heard from him again. The good things: They accomplished a lot more in a day than I thought they would. The painting was sharp. The edges were clear and precise. The bad things: The scratched wood floor. The annoyed attitude of the workers. The painting over of the outlet covers.

Jimmy was punctual, professional and did an excellent job. I was very pleased.

Mr. Alvarado, the owner, was easily accessible by phone, and was very polite on the phone. I was in a unique situation where I was arranging for the painting of a townhouse that I am renting out. I have a property manager, but they were quoting a unreasonable price. Using an Angie's List Deal, I found Definition Painting for $219 for a day of painting. Well, I had such little to be done, it seemed a no brainer for me to get the deal. Mr. Alvarado said that it would be difficult for him to fit me in by June 1st (when the tenants moved in). After a few scheduling challenges, he was able to get someone to come in and paint the walls on May 30th. I was very impressed with the ability for him to get the painter in to do the job, based on his tight availability. He also worked well with my property management company (Wright Management - who is also awesome) and communicated with them about scheduling. I did have to buy the paint ahead of time, but otherwise the painter had all the materials to do the job. My property manager said the work looked great! Overall, I was happy that things worked out, that the job was a quality job, and the company communicated with me and my management company very well!

The painter generally did a good job, but when the time ran long, he unfortunately cut some corners - parts of one wall are only lightly covered, and the edges of two walls are often imperfectly finished, or in one corner, not finished at all. I think I would rather have paid for extra time and had the work finished properly, but it was only about a half-hour's work with roller and bush for me - a manageable job compared to the massive effort it originally was. On the whole, we are satisfied, but that's mainly because it was a special price. Still, even with the unfinished bits, it looks tremendously better. The painter cleaned up the area after the job, and in general I have no other complaints about it.

They were quite good. I would definitely consider using them again. They evaluated the rooms and sent me the two pages. We discussed a recommended paint type, painting materials and even colors. They are very quick, effective and professional. They did a good job. It was very nice. They were very professional and very efficient. It was a positive experience.

They gave a great quote. He was very meticulous right down to how many cans he would use. He gave suggestions on where to go to get discounts. He showed up exactly when he was supposed to. He cleaned up. The lines were clean and precise. This big deal was a good value. I recommended them to other people.

Took too long to decide not to do work. He was otherwise fine

They did a great job. They took a little bit longer than we had expected. Their estimated how long it would it take and then it took them about another two hours. It was a little kind of annoying when we came home and they’re still working but otherwise it was fine and they did a great job with the same price.

They did it over the course of about a week. They were very flexible. There were some things that weren't included in the coupon, but over all it was worth it.

I purchased a "Big Deal" twice. My first experience was excellent. I was scheduled promptly and the interior painting was excellent. My second experience lacked communication. It was clear I was so impressed with the first "Big Deal" I quickly scheduled another deal. My second appoint was scheduled. However, by 9 am the painter had not arrived. When I inquired, I was told there had been an emergency. I am open to emergencies. However, I felt the owner should have contacted me as soon as he realized the scheduled appointment would not occur. Once the appointment was rescheduled, the painter was excellent. my only concern with this company is communication. Bear in mind my first "Big Deal" went off without a glitch. Therefore, if you decide to contract this company call the ownere the day before and the day of your scheduled appointment to ensure there are no scheduling conflicts.

They did have to come back to fix an issue. When they started I specifically asked how long it would take them for the time frame of the Big Deal and I thought we agreed upon a time frame that was reasonable. They did the first part of the job fine, but they were in such a rush at the end to get done within the time frame that they just started painting over cracks, and then painted one coat but ran out of time, so I had to pay an extra $110 for the second coat. I would have preferred they did not even start the first coat, knowing they would run out of time like I thought we agreed upon. I would not use them again in the future.

Overall it went well, the crew was a team of one man and woman. They worked all day on my LR and entrance foyer and stairs and hall on second floor. The coupon was good only for a certain square footage and did not include trim. We wound up paying extra for trim and additional square footage. All in all the extra expense was worth it as the pair did a good job. The only reason I would probably not go with them again is because of all the additional expenses. Be forewarned that you will need to provide paint (PREFERS Sherwin Williams and that is pricey, although he claims to have a discount, the store we went to in Crofton did not know the company) and I would have preferred to use the Consumer Reports #1 Behr, you will be talked out of buying that.

At first, he was able to get back to me rather quickly. He asked me to send the coupon code for the Big Deal, my address, and my contact information. I sent him this information multiple times, but he never called me back. I eventually grew tired of it and asked Angie's List for a reimbursement.

Excellent job, had cracks in the ceciling and the walls, they fixed every one where you can't see any indication that they were ever there. Worked with us on some issues that came up. Very need and cleaned up after the job, that took 2 days to complete, because of the patch work that had to be done. Very happy with there work, will use again, have more painting to be done.

The painter showed up right on time he was scheduled to come. Showed him what needed to be painted and began to work right away. At first i was a little worried because they only sent one guy to paint 3 floors of the house, but he worked fast and thorough. The painter started at 9:00am and finished 2 coats of paint on everything that i wanted by 3:00pm. I would definitely hire these guys again. They gave me a great discount on the paint through Sherwin Williams (you have to provide the paint).

They were easy to work with, flexible about the details, arrived early and did a great job. My baths were less square footage than included in the deal, so they did work not covered by the deal and we were both happy. Good folks.

I had great difficulty in getting any response from this company (Joel is the person I dealt with). I was able to set up the date for the job, but no one came by to give me an estimate of how much paint I'd need to buy, so I guesstimated the amount (which turned out to be accurate). I emailed Joel twice and left a voice mail once, and never received a callback or email until the day of the job. I didn't even know when to expect them to show up, but guessed it would be about 8 or 8:30 (after reviewing the other reviews), and they called me at 8:15, and showed up at 8:30. They were gone by 3:00 p.m. In light of the not-so-positive reviews for this company, I took a quick look around a couple of times while they were painting, and they were both pleasant and professional. I did have to ask them to ensure they did some trim work in the dining room, which they did follow-up on. I also have a large built-in cabinet in the dining room, which, since it's the same color of the dining room, I presumed would be painted. It wasn't. When I asked if he was going to paint it, Joel said he didn't have enough paint, which irked me since someone from his company should have looked at the space and discussed how much paint it would take for the job. There were marks on the bottom of the end units of the cabinet, and I asked him to paint them with the little bit of paint remaining. He didn't . I actually liked both of the painters, and I felt during my final review, before they left, that they had gone a good job. But after they left, I found paint spots on my kitchen floor, which were easy enough to clean, but there were several spots where the painting wasn't completed. Again, I can touch it up. However, the kitchen and hallway are divided by different colors, and the (I think the term is) "cutting" was really bad, and I didn't catch it before they left. In other words, the kitchen has some cream showing in the line between the green kitchen and cream hallway. It's not horrendous, but it's amateurish looking. All-in-all, they are adequate, but I will not be using them in the future.

It was really good. I was pleased with them. We paid an extra $50 for spackle, which surprised me but it was still a good deal. They did a good job and I was happy with them.

The painting crew was punctual, professional and did a fantastic job. Would recommend them to family and friends.

Great process for getting a quite. Professional, explained things well. We are so far thrilled with the outcomes! They did a great job!

Jimmy, Leon, and Lester showed up promptly at 8:00 AM and worked on all three rooms full time throughout the day, not leaving until around 6:00 PM. Jimmy and Leon showed up again on the second day, again at 8:00 AM, and again they worked steadly throughout the day until just around 6:00 PM again. Overall, throughout, the workmanship, the quality, and the work ethic of the painting crew was great, and my wife and I were thrilled with the results. I would certainly hire Definition Painting Services again in the future. If there was anything that I wasn't keen on, it would be that by the time I got around to prepping the remaining paint in the paint cans for long term strorage (placing saran wrap in the can on top of the paint), I found that in several cases the painters left their roller covers in the cans. This is a mess to clean up, as the roller covers are saturated with paint, and there is no easy way to avoid getting paint on you. If you hire them (or any other painters for that matter), put it in writing that no roller covers get left in the paint cans at the end of the job. On the matter of paint itself, which I was responsible for independent of the contracted cost described above, Joel had me buy a five gallon bucket of ceiling white, for two coats of ceiling paint for three rooms. This turned out be overkill, because I have well over half the five gallon bucket of paint left. While it's true I can use it to paint the ceilings in other rooms at some point, when my overall cost of paint for this job was north of $650, every dollar I could have saved would have been welcomed. As for the wall and trim paint, in one case I had purchased two gallons of paint for the walls in the one bedroom, and I wound up with one whole gallon of paint left. It's not clear whether the amount of paint needed for two coats was overestimated, or, maybe I didn't get the second coat applied, as was called for in the contract. I would say that before you hire any painters, do some research on the web, measure your own square footage, take into account whether the walls have previously been painted and won't suck the paint in, take into account whether you are covering a dark color with a lighter color or vice versa, and estimate your own paint requirements and compare them with what the contractor says you need, and work out any discrepancies before you purchase the paint. While overall I am extremely happy with the quality of the work, and will use them again, there is one minor thing that would really put them way ahead of everyone else. This is a seemingly minor item, but something I use to determine the thoroughness and attention to detail of painters: make sure that the tops of trim over doors and windows is painted. All too often (by many painters) that part of trim never gets touched, in that, they must think that if it can't be seen from below, then no one will know, and they can save several brush strokes. However, a true professional painter won't skimp on that detail, because while it can't be seen from eye level, if you are ever on a ladder in the room looking down on the door or window trim, it's visible. In this case I did have to request for the tops of trim over the doors and windows be painted, and they did.

Much easier and better result than I would have gotten on my own.

We purchased an "Angie's List Big Deal" that included up to 3 rooms and/or 500 sq/ft of wall space. After speaking to the owner on the phone, we made an appointment for him to make a site visit. He arrived on time and was very pleasant. He measured the rooms and consulted with my wife on the best choice of paint. He determined the rooms to be 650 sq/ft and only charged us an additional $100 which was more than fair. The job entailed painting around a rock faced fireplace and brand kitchen cabinets which are white. He called the night before the job to make sure we were ready for his crew. The next morning two gentlemen arrived on time and immediately went to work. They moved our furniture out of the way and covered our countertops, furniture, and appliances in order to protect them. They fixed the nail pops and nail holes in the walls before painting. They completed the two coats in both rooms by the end of the day and cleaned up after themselves. They wore booties or took their shoes off when they were working around our house and left it looking great. I would use these guys again without hesitation. On-time and On Budget - no fuss and no worries.
