I initially contacted definition painting services and left a message. They returned my call promptly and we set an agreed upon time for an estimate which they were graciously accommodating with regard to my time. Joel, the owner, arrived promptly and spent a considerable amount of time discussing the work I wanted taken care of, taking measurements and describing how the work would be taken done. Joel was very helpful in suggesting a paint color around some cabinets & molding (His advice turned out to be perfect and I'm very happy). Joel said he would email an estimate and the next day I received the proposal which was a very detailed outline of the work they would do and price. The price was competitive, but considering all the work I was going to have done I thought it was quite fair. The company showed up on the agreed upon day and on time. They were very careful with their preparation and took great care to move and protect my furniture and floors. The supervisor was very considerate and explained just how they were going to go about the jobs. He was always available for me to ask questions, etc. and was always gracious. I was amazed and incredibly impressed with how diligent and hard working each of the employees were. At the end of each day (and they worked long days) they cleaned up and things were put aside so that it was easy for us to get around. I added another area to be painted and they were very accommodating (giving me a fair price and adding it on as if it was no problem at all? they were just always so nice!!). At the completion, we did a walk thru and any small thing that needed a touch up was quickly taken care of. In the end, I had a perfect painting job that I was extremely happy with. The company did a followup call to find out if everything went well and if I was happy with the job. I was very happy with this company and highly recommend them. I will definitely use them again. Definition Painting Services is an absolutely superb company!!

Painters were great, prompt and tidy.

I chose Definition Painting because of the excellent reviews. Karen and Joel were pleasant to work with, however if I had it to do over again, I would not have chosen them. I do not consider their performance that of an A-rated or excellent company. I hate writing negative reivews, but I realize I wish I could have read a review that let me know about the experiences I have had. 1. The doors that were painted, which we did not close for days, had the paint come off where they hit the frame. Joel thought this was the no-VOC paint. He suggested that paint when I asked for low VOC paint. I assumed a painter would know about the qualities of the paint. We had painters out 4 times to correct this. We are not sure if they sanded well enough, there wasn't much dust noticeable. However on the last visit the painter asked if it was ok to move the hinges so the doors didn't touch the frames, and that worked. We have never had this kind of problem before. 2. I don't think an A-rated company should get paint on curtains, towel bars, door hardware, and a shirt inside a closet that was painted, a towel inside another. I had put up tarps over the clothes in closets where the outside of the louvered doors were being painted which the painters said they were unnecessary and in at least one case took down. We only discovered the paint on a very expensive shirt long after the painters had left. I received no response about that after two emails. Nor did they suggest a way to clean the curtains. 3. They painted partially up where the door jamb met the walls. When they came back to correct they asked if they could just paint it entirely closed and I agreed, but it was a sloppy job. 4. They didn't put the ceiling fan back in correctly, and it was unusable and dangling a bit scarily over the bed. They did return to repair it, but it was hazardous and should have been checked carefully. 5. On one of the repair trips a worker tracked dirt on the stairs carpeting. They have a 2 year guarantee, but after 4 times of taking time off to be here for repairs, plus the problems, the lack of response to emails on shirt and curtains, I feel so unhappy thinking about them I haven't been able to bring myself to call them again.

They did it all in 6 or 7 hours. They did an excellent job and their price was very good. The estimator was very nice, but they didn’t paint any of the trim or the doorways. That’s extra and I didn’t know that at the time. I think they need to be clear about that.

The job was begun on time and conducted by a very professional crew who worked quickly and completed the job in just three days they do an outstanding job cleaning up and leaving the house in excellent condition

When we bought our house (a 1939 brick bungalow) the walls were a mess, full of holes, cracks and painted garish colors like bright orange and dark green. These guys had the lowest cost quote by far. This was kind of a complicated job because there were a lot of different spaces and colors that we used. Every room was different. The kitchen was a special job in that it needed the ceiling painted, we had our upper cabinets painted, the wood backsplash whitewashed and they applied a floor paint/epoxy to the floor so we could choose the color. They gave us a good price on high-end low-VOC paints (that was about $2k of the overall cost). Used the water resistant bathroom paint in our baths. Once we had laid out which paint would be used, where, they did a fantastic job. They painting job they did was nearly perfect, no drips or smears, and they got all the colors and products right on the first try. The repair they did on holes and cracks was seamless. The look of the work is flawless. In the kitchen, they were worried the floor paint might not adhere well enough, so they coated it with a clear epoxy product that is often used in garages - it is awesome! It is glossy, and completely impermeable - the best floor product, so easy to clean - I appreciate that they came up with that solution. Now for the complaints - they left things a little dusty from the sanding they did to prepare the work surfaces. This wasn't a big deal because the house was already dirty from the prior owners and we were prepared to clean the whole place before moving everything in. It took us about 2 hours to clean it up (from the entire 4 bed, 2 bath house) - but overall, we saved thousands of dollars ($2-6k) over other quotes. To me it is totally worth it to spend a couple hours sweeping, mopping and wiping off a few ceiling fan blades to save that kind of money. They did a nice job on the exterior too, it was usually 1-3 guys at a time working and it took 3 days inside and then they came back the following week for 2 days to do the exterior. Overall, we were very satisfied with the work - one year later the house is bright and fresh. Thank you to Joel and his crew.

Joel made an excellent impression hen he came to give an estimate, which was competitive with another contractor who gave an estimate as well as with our expectations. The crew was very professional, did excellent work in a timely fashion. The quality of the work was outstanding. When I called about the porch sealing, which I hadn't seen being done, they got back to me immediatelty and pointed out that it had been done. Sure enough, it had. They handled this very nicely even though it was my mistake. Joel recommended a slightly different paint than we used previously, and it lookd great! One of our neighbors said our house looked like a new house. We would definitely use them again.

While their estimate was competitive, I decided to use another contractor for this work. While there was issues with the initial scheduled appointment, the representative rescheduled the appointment within a week.

They did a good job. There were some extra costs due extra square footage. They were quick, in and out within a day.

They only sent workers to do painting work and was not prepared to do the work that I had requested. I was really disappointed because I thought it would have been a great value. They did a great job with the painting but I specifically wanted them to do more than paint. I spent a lot of time explaining what I wanted done but the workers they sent didn't have the skill to do more than painting. We had to take time to make a phone call for some translation help since English wasn't their first language. One of the workers kept going into my garage looking for tools and I felt a little uncomfortable with that. I didn't feel that I could trust them after that. Overall, I felt the deal was a great value, but I didn't get the value that I anticipated.

Great service and work product. Quiet, neat team came and did the work efficiently with great results. We would hire them again for a future project. They were punctual for estimate and actual work day appointment and finished the work in the projected time frame. The B for punctuality because the crew did no come on the scheduled day (due to an illness) and I had to call to find out what was going on, but this was quickly addressed. My sense is that this was a complete fluke and would not normally happen. All in all---a great find on Angie's list!

They were on time! The work they did was professionally done. I was very pleased with them. For the amount of time they were here, they completed a lot of work. They were very professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone and would hire them again in the future if needed. I was so impressed with them!!

The total cost of his estimate, even with the "deal" was a lot more than other estimates I had received.

The company wanted to charge me more than what the big deal was worth. I did not end up using this deal.

I tried several times to contact them using a Big Deal. They never tried to call back or email back. Got a refund from Angie's List. Oh well... ;

They are great and we love them. They did the job quickly, efficiently, and to my satisfaction.I highly recommend them for any painting or home improvement. They did such a great job on the first property that I hired them for the second property. Joell, the owner, is very responsive and professional.

Prior to the job I contacted the company to determine if there would be enough time for the workmen to remove the wallpaper and prime the walls in the allotted time offered by the special. I was told yes since the bathroom is very small to go ahead and buy the primer for the room. I did so. This job occurred many months ago and I do not remember if the workman arrived on time but I do remember it was an afternoon appointment. On the day of service the workman spent the entire time removing the wallpaper. When the time frame was up he asked if I wanted him to stay additional time? I looked at the bathroom and saw that the walls still had a lot of paste on them. I asked him if he stayed, what would he do next? He said paint. Since I thought he may have misunderstood my question I asked him how he was going to remove the paste? He said he would sand the walls after he painted and he would have to return another day to do it. This didn't make sense to me; how are you going to remove glue on the walls after you paint? So I told him to go ahead and clean up and leave. I was willing to pay for additional time to have the paste removed and the walls sanded but this was not the way he wanted to do the job. So I was left with a job half done. I realize that there may not have been enough time to prime the walls but I did want the bathroom ready to be primed. I would not recommend the company to anyone.

Overall, it went very very well. The gentleman was a true professional. He gave me plenty of insight for the project. He was not pushing on any sales, and gave options on the work that could be done. He educated me on the painting process and what would happen. The whole effort took roughly five days. He was there when he told me he would be there, and informed me of how long the work would take and it did. The weather delayed the project a few days. The quality of their work is extremely high! I would highly recommend them and will definitely have them do my next job!

He did a good job. I was appalled at how the company treats their workers. One painter came and didn’t take lunch break and didn’t bring water. I provided him food and water. He was very nice.

Everything about my experience with Definition Painting was professional and enjoyable. I was very impressed with Joel's knowledge and experience and his suggestions were very helpful. His staff was responsive, timely and the finished product exceeded my expectations. They didn't miss a detail. This was no small job and now we feel like we have a new house ... I couldn't be more pleased.

Excellent survey of the house, identified problems to be repaired, did a good job painting trim and walls, patching, etc., as well as making repairs.
