Totally satisfied with Certified from beginning to end. Everyone is very thorough and professional. The workmen constantly made sure that everything was done to my satisfaction and did a beautiful job. If I could give them 3-A's on the rating I would!!! You will not be disappointed with Certified when you hire them to perform your roofing work!

Workers did a fabulous job removing 60 years of patched roof. Under the roofing material was gravel that had to be shoveled off to look at the condition of the plywood. Much plywood was rotten and had to be replaced. Workers did an excellent job laying the new roofing membrane. They remarked that the new roof is approximately 25% of the weight of the old roof. They removed and replaced five drains and enlarged some of them. Two skylights were removed and replaced with adequate flashing. Chimney had rotten plywood around it that was replaced and adequate flashing applied. Certified had another contractor available to repair minor damage inside that developed from the application of the roof.

REVIEW: We had a major home repair that required 4 different companies to coordinate schedules and work crews over the course of a week. Certified was a great team player and was willing to move schedules around to accommodate the other crews. From the day Jose initially came out to provide an initial estimate, until the very last day of the job, he was always available to quickly answer my MANY questions and keep me informed about what was happening. Both he and Tom were very helpful in determining the best path forward to solve our many unique problems. And Javier came over each morning to remove the tarp from the roof, and came back each night to ensure it was secured in case it rained. We also had them replace our gutters. They not only removed/replaced any rotting fascia board, but also painted the new wood for us. My only complaint is that one of the 4 companies broke 3 of our walkway lights, and nobody is claiming responsibility. But I am not surprised given the extent of the job and the number of people coming/going. Overall, we are really happy with their service. And we got estimates from 3 different companies and they were all very close in price, so I don't feel like they charged too much. UPDATE: 3 days after the roof was finished, we had a tornado-like storm and a tree fell on the roof, damaging about 1/3 of the roof (including a dozen holes, bent drip edge and torn fascia board). I called certified in a panic, and Javier came out immediately to see what he could do to tarp it to stop rain from entering the house while we waited for a tree company to remove the tree. Over the coming weeks, Certfied worked with insurance company to ensure our roof was not simply patched up (as insurance company suggested), but was actually repaired to the “brand new” condition we had before the storm. I really can’t say enough about these guys!

Very happy with the new roof. Tom is very professional and was a pleasure to work with. He guided me through the process of replacing my roof and working with my insurance company. The crew showed up on time and completed the project in a day. I would definitely recommend Certified to anyone needing a new roof.

I had roof damage due severe high winds. Certified was right there to help with my insurance claim. The crew was most polite, cleaning my entire roof and surrounding yard/patio/walkway. I will always use them in the future. Great company to work with!

Certified Inc was very professional from beginning to end with my roof replacement. Tom was able to thoroughly explain my options, answered all my questions, was open and honest with his recommendations, and made the process smooth without any hard sales. Certified's Select ShingleMaster certification gives a plenty of peace of mind knowing the work was done correctly. The contract was clear and specific, providing exactly what work was to be done. The roofing team was quick, efficient, and clean. The thoroughness of the final once-over and post clean-up shows they take pride in their work. Initially had the roof installed by Certified Inc and was happy with the results, except that a cap fell off within 7 years. Several monhs ago I I contacted the company when my gutter cleaner said a cap had flown off the exhaust pipe on my roof. I was told by the company'd owner not to worry, probably there wasn't a cap there in the first place. A month ago a contactor went up to my attic and found a "hole through my roof". I contacted Certified immediately and completed the service request form within the next 24 hours. I did not receive a call back for several days to schedule the inspection of the problem. When I followed up the next week, I spoke with Tom, the owner, who blew off my concern and tried to talk me out of the inspection. I explained that the cost of the inspection didn't matter, I just needed to know if there was a problem. I sent a picture of the hole from inside the attic and only with my insistence did they finally connect me with Javier. Javier was very courteous and scheduled the inspection. It turned out I was right about the hole, and had I not insisted on someone coming out I may have sustained major damage over time from weather and animals coming in. Javier swiftly put on a temporary cover until he could come back the following week with the correct cap. I was frustrated that the owner dismissed my concern so quickly and tried to talk me out of it, I think they should trust people. I am willing to pay for the right contractor to do a solid job, so though the work was done well, I would have appreciated better customer service.

Mr. Keehn arrived on the day and time that was agreed to. The estimate took only a short time and he sent it the next day. The roofing crew arrived and started work on the day which had been set. They were very professional but friendly also. They told me that it should take three days and they were right, finished and gone in three days. The work crew leader walked me around to explain everything that they had done and answered any questions that I had. In my opinion I received a top notch job, my new roof looks beautiful. Certified provided both quality and reasonable pricing for the work that they did. When I was getting estimates for a new roof, Jose from Certified was the only one that went up into the attic with an infrared camera to determine any noticeable rot in the boards. He was also able to recommend venting shingles along one side of the house to make up for the lack of soffit vents on that side. Jose was knowledgeable, courteous and professional. The materials that he discussed seemed to be of very good quality and the warranties on the materials and labor were the best out of all of the companies that provided an estimate. In addition, the overall cost of the roof was highly competitive with all of the others. The work itself was performed on time, efficiently and with attention to detail. The foreman on the job was professional, thorough and communicated everything as the project moved along. After the roof was complete the crew did an excellent job cleaning up. Certified did a great job working with my insurance company (providing supplements, photos and estimates) and was responsive to all questions that I had before and after the work was completed. I highly recommend Certified to anyone looking for a new roof.

Overall, my husband and I are very happy with Certified. After we got quotes, we had to put the roofing project on hold for the better part of a year. When I checked back in with Certified, Tom kept his price the same, whereas another company raised their price. Tom and his staff were good to work with through the whole process -- they checked in regularly, but not too much. The crew seemed to do a great job replacing the roof and skylights. The shingles look great (we just got the basic architectural shingles, but they are so sturdy and attractive), and it looks like the crew took care with the flashings. They also did a nice job with a tricky siding issue that we had. Cleanup around the house was thorough. And best of all, there are no leaks. So far so good!

I needed to have my roof replaced on my townhouse in Alexandria, VA. I received 5 estimates and Certified was the second lowest price. What impressed me the most however was their presentation and sales pitch. The presentation was extremely informative and walked me through every step of the demolition and installation process. It outlined all aspects of the roofing system which were to be installed, and was extremely professional. They were in and out of my house in less than a full day. The place was cleaner than before the construction began. Scheduling the construction was very simple and a quick process. I would certainly recommend them to friends and colleagues and would hire Certified again!

Certified replaced our D.C. rowhouse's flat roof. We got about five estimates from various local roofers, and Certified's was in line/a little less than the others. Throughout the project--from requesting the estimate to completion--Certified has been professional and responsive. They were able to schedule us within two weeks of signing the contract; everywhere else was telling us they couldn't start for 4-8 weeks. (Not good when you have leaks and it's spring in D.C.!) The crew showed up on time and finished the job in two days. It looks great. It hasn't rained yet, but I'm hopeful and confident our new roof will prevent any more leaks. Thanks, Certified!

I chose Certified for my new roof because my neighbor used them and had a good experience. I made the right choice. They explained all the components of my new roof and the costs very clearly. The job was completed exactly as explained and within the time frame. The roofing team - supervisors and workers - were courteous, professional, and very careful. They moved all of my flower pots, etc. to be safe during the process removing the old roof, and cleaned up meticulously afterwards, including retrieving any old shingles that may have dropped into my neighbors yard. Although they were a little higher priced than one other estimate I got, I chose them because they were professional and thorough and very easy to work with. I'm very happy with the result. We are extremely happy with the whole experience! Our house is a 1950s rambler (about 1600 sq ft) with the original wood planks over the main area and plywood sheathing over an extension. The previous roof shingles were about 25 years old. Tom Keehn came out to the house to evaluate the job and was very helpful in explaining what they would do step by step. We were very impressed with all of the details that he provided and with the literature that he left with us. The other companies that we contacted did not go into as much detail. The price was extremely competitive and after we signed the contract, the job was scheduled very soon after. The men who did the work are very professional, courteous, and highly skilled! After they removed the old shingles, they found some problem areas and were able to solve every problem - including replacing wood in some awkward areas, and a very rusty metal chimney stack. They conscientiously checked every single board on the roof to make sure it was still sound and they only replaced those areas that were rotten. Then they made sure that all of the original boards were securely attached to the rafters - adding extra nails if necessary. Then several layers were placed over the wood - my neighbor who watched the entire process from a higher vantage point was incredibly impressed with how well the roof was sealed before the new shingles were put on. The men cleaned up throughout the process and by the end of the job - everything was gorgeous - the roof is beautiful, the new flashing is better than it ever was, etc. This is an incredible company! We highly, highly recommend them!

I had another company come out and verify that I needed to have work done on my roof and had confirmed I'd need to replace the roof. After reaching out to a number of companies only Certified was able to provide me the comfort of excellent communication (many didn't have the courtesy to reply to my inquiries) and references to sign on the dotted line. They were one of the few companies that had expertise with flat roofs as well as shingle and were able to work around my roof mounted HVAC unit by moving it as needed. They installed a white Mule Hide TPO roof on my main roof as well as on my addition and replaced the roofs for my front porch (which has started to leak and wasn't draining into the gutter) as well as my steep mansard roof. One company I dealt with in the initial phase was unwilling to answer questions I had with regard to the CRRC ratings of the TPO but Certified was always upfront with me and provided me with continuous updates as the work progressed, all via email and by phone. I'd originally expected to have shingles on the former BUR roof on my addition, but the crew determined that a flat roof was more appropriate and replaced it with TPO, with an explanation for their change and at no additional cost. The warranties provided as well as the licensure and insurance were a critical factor to my selection (too many companies seem to be operating in a legal gray area) and I don't expect to have any problems with the work completed, but if I do I know they stand behind their work.

Certified did a terrific job installing my new roof. I got several estimates from CertainTeed certified roofing companies for a 5 star roof that also had good ratings on Angie's List. The prices were all similar, but they had different recommendations for ventilation. The sales representative, Jose, used a thermal imaging camera to demonstrate that my current soffit vents were working, and therefore all that I needed was to replace the ridge vents and remove the power vent fan. The CertainTeed 5 star roof program requires training and certification of the roofing company as well the use of top of the line materials and methods. This guarantees that the customer will get an excellent roof and provides a 50 year non-prorated warranty from the roofing manufacturer. Certified did an excellent installation and protected the jobsite and cleaned up afterwards.

I highly recommend Certified for your roofing needs. Tom came out and gave me a fair and very competitive estimate that couldn't be beat. He was knowledgeable and understanding of my specific roofing needs. I had both an angled roof and flat roof to be done and Certified handled them both with ease. After I received the estimate, it took me a couple months to get back to Tom as I gathered financing and did some more comparison shopping, but Certified still came out on top in terms of price and warranty and honored the original estimate. No steeply discounted sales pressure tactics on the first day like some of the bigger companies that I contacted. I was happy with Tom's assessment and honesty. The install crew came out when scheduled, worked in the bitter cold, snow, and wind, and didn't stop until the work was done. They worked late to keep to the schedule and were there well after dark using flashlights. Juan Carlos and his crew wanted to make sure that we were happy and our roof wouldn't leak even halfway through when the job wasn't finished. Right before and after they came, it snowed. They left debris in the yard because they couldn't see it to clean it because of the unmelted snow. After the weather warmed up and the snow melted, Juan Carlos and his crew came back out and did a very good job cleaning my yard. Of course they couldn't get every bit of debris, but it's presentable enough that if I didn't know there was work done and debris left over, I wouldn't have realized it at first glance. Overall, I'm very happy with the results and look forward to many, many years of a dry house and a strong roof. Thanx Certified!!!

Company is very professional. They were reliable, honest, and dependable with our expensive cedar roof replacement. The presentation to our community was detailed and most informative. They even introduced the foreman responsible for the project! I am happy to recommend Certified.

I was very pleased with my experience with Certified and would highly recommend them to others. Certified was one of four roofing companies I've had come out over a past year to check out my roof and provide a quote. Certified's owner Tom did the estimate. He was really a breath of fresh air. The other three companies (all of which have "A" ratings on Angie's List) either used high pressure tactics (for example, "sign right now for $X or you lose the rate") or sent slick salesman types to try to convince me to go with their company. Tom was laid back, no nonsense, and no pressure. In addition, his quote was more than competitive with the other companies. The roofers were polite and hardworking and the new roof looks great. The roofers were unable to complete the cleanup on the day of installation because they ran out of daylight (the roof was installed on one of the shortest days of the year). The day after the roof installation (a Sunday) I noticed that some roofing materials had blown into my neighbor's yard. I emailed Tom and he responded promptly that his guys would come clean asap, which they did. I would strongly recommend Certified.
