Project Coordinator, Adam, was the reason we chose Blue Sky - had another ballpark estimate but Adam's professionalism, courtesy & communication skills sealed the deal. We had some rotting wood trim on our 2001-era townhome in Longwood Community - some of which was on top level - and all needed a fresh coat of paint. Adam was great: listened to what we wanted done, took notes, explained clearly what Blue Sky would do. Then he got back to us with an estimate later that day (he also called each time he sent us an email throughout the project). The crew was a different story, however. Two workers (with minimal English skills) & a supervisor (Durian was his name, as I recall) came out to do the job. Adam said it would probably take a day-and-a-half but the crew seemed to be rushing to finish it that one day. Sure enough, when I inspected their work the next morning in good light I found several problems: the re-caulking was poorly done, some painted trim edges were sloppy, a repaired PVC trim piece wasn't planed down before being painted. Worst of all, the one top level piece of trim that was to be replaced with PVC had not been - and this was written down in our Blue Sky contract. The workers had left sawdust, wood scraps & TWO NAILS in our driveway, too. We got Adam back out here & showed him all the problems. He was respectful, attentive & agreed with us that the job was not professional work. He apologized to us & promised to make it right. The team came back, made the corrections, replaced the top level trim with PVC & painted it, re-did the poor caulking & sloppy trim edges. I gave Blue Sky an "A" because when all was said & done, Adam made it a success. Without his efforts & interpersonal skills this would not have been rated an "Excellent" experience. We were confident in Adam's representation of what Blue sky could do for us at the beginning & he didn't disappoint. We will hire this company again because of this ultimate guarantee of satisfactory service.

They did very nice work. We combined a deal purchase with additional hours. All work was performed per the quote with no overruns. The external and internal work was all high quality and blended right in. Courteous and clean, I would use this vendor again for sure.

They got all the work done in two days. They even brought in a few other people during the last day to help finish up. They were efficient and good at their job. The living room was a bit demanding because it was very darkly painted and had to have multiple coats of paint to cover the rather garish sponge painting. All of the walls look good now and the spots that required a little extra work (some dripping water marks) were covered nicely. The painters even added some examples of off-white spots painted on the ceiling and asked me which I thought was the best match for the repaired spot. [The whole ceiling was not being painted so they were matching as best they could.] I especially enjoyed the fact that one of the main workers was a woman. She was intelligent, very polite, and fun to talk to. Plus she is an avid reader and a Jane Austen fan. As all the painters were leaving she asked me about a few of the author's books she had noticed on my shelves in the living room. So we quickly exchanged our views on a few of Jane's books and movies before she left.

Arrived on time, in uniform, and worked full day. Workers were courteous and very professional. Painting was neatly done. Will hire for future work needed on interior of house.

Very impressed with all aspects of this job. Preparation cleaning showed the siding to be in much worse condition than covered by the origional estimate. Kevin did a revised estimate quickly and fairly. Company uses top quality paint and materials. Good clean-up.

The work turned out very well! The price was good and the quality was great! They are very responsive and professional. Even if they are not the cheapest, I appreciate them as painters.

The work was fine. You do have keep on them and to make sure they complete what you ask them to do in the way that you ask them to do it. The work was good.

We had previously hired another painting company. The crew was bad and had painted latex over oil based paint. They did a really sloppy job where the walls and woodwork were not smooth. I asked Tom if he could fix what they did and they did a great job! He had great communication and made sure he really understood what I needed by listening to all of my concerns. I was going to buy the paint, but I agreed to have him purchase the paint. Later, I was disappointed when I discovered that the time they took out of the day to purchase the paint subtracted from the hours within my Big Deal. When I spoke with Tom, he made things right and gave back that time they took to purchase the paint. I thought that was fair. The job took them at least two hours longer that the Big Deal time allowed. I just wonder if they would have finished on time had they used primer because we were painting orange over dark blue. We had to pay the hourly rate for all time beyond the Big Deal. They did clean up well, were courteous, and respectful. There was a lot of sanding and they did a great job with sealing off the dust and concealing it to that room. You can tell that Tom cares about whether his customers are happy. I will be hiring them for additional jobs in the future.

The quote was crazily high. We had called initially because they had a special for $500 for two days, and that special wasn't even addressed. We asked them about it and they said it doesn't really count if you have more work done than what the special is. That wasn't good, so my wife, Kathy, ended up painting the rooms herself, which cost $400 total and it took two days and it was just her. When they came out and gave us the quote they were very nice and professional about it, but the whole $500 special kind of felt like a bait-and-switch to be quite honest.

The quality of the work was very good. The walls look nice. The contractor (not a Blue Sky employee) arrived on time and did some prep work. Then he left and arrived a while later (not sure how long he was gone) with 3 men (not the expected 2). The walls were basically finished very quickly, within 3 hours. Granted, there were 3 men instead of 2, but based on how quickly the walls were finished, I wonder if they could have painted the ceiling, or something else, within the "2 men for 8 hours" deal. I was hoping the Blue Sky estimator (who visited me a week or so before this job started) could tell me if there would be time for extra work beyond my requirement of the 4 living room walls, but he didn't seem certain. I thought the dark green walls would be an issue, maybe requiring a 3rd coat, but I think they just did 2 coats, and, again, it looks really nice. I'm pleased.

They covered everything and took great care.

Our experience with Tom, the company's owner, and Luis and his team, who did the painting itself, was extremely positive. It was easy to schedule an appointment for an estimate, the estimate was reasonable, and the service was great. Luis and his crew were on time, friendly, and professional. The house looks great, and they left no mess. They were patient and understanding when we made a mid-course correction on the color and even replaced our old house numbers, which broke when they were removing them to paint the front portico. We'll definitely recommend the company to neighbors and use them again if we need painting in the future. Thanks for the good work!

I got a fair quote. Kevin, my project point person, was very flexible and explained everything to me. When there was a problem on the site with water that was left running for a few hours; he took care of that in terms of giving me a little extra service to compensate for the water that was used. Overall, I had a good experience with the company.

Kevin, the senior estimator was wonderful. He was incredibly responsive, clearly outlined the job and itemized the cost as i'd requested. The price was fair, it included all materials and benjamin moore (non voc interior wall paint), which is a high quality paint. They were patient when we kept changing the schedule for exterior painting (it was challenging finding an acceptable weather day). Luis and his crew were professional and courteous. They were thorough and the quality of work was very good. My one minor on them was the actual hours spent for interior work and also gallons of paint used appeared less than what we'd agreed on in the estimate. However, the job was completed to my satisfaction AND the exterior work estimate was slightly under actual work, performed so it all sort of evened out. I thought the price was fair market value for what we received. I also would have liked slightly more smoothing out of window trims but understand that i had hesitations about excessive dust from sanding due to the age of our home. All in all i thought the project was a success and i was pleased w/ my interactions w/ them. Would recommend (in fact i already have to a coworker) and would use them again.

The estimator was careful, generous with requested advice, and thorough in addition to working late to be able to provide an estimate quickly. Blue Sky worked me into their schedule very quickly, the quality of the work was very good, and dealing with the estimator and office was easy and pleasant. Although I had contracted for 2 painters for 8 hours, the subcontractor they sent to the job attempted to short me, and when I emerged from my office, 2 1/2 hours into the day, the guys had removed all tarps, washed their brushes, and were preparing to leave. I call their "supervisor" (read: translator) who gave me a ridiculous song and dance about how they had worked really fast and needed primer, so we were even. I detected a distinct machismo attitude that I did not care for. I refused to be intimidated and told them to get back to work. At 7 hours in, repeat performance, only this time i was sufficiently ready to have them gone that I caved. When i told the Blue Sky office staff and estimator about my experiences, they acknowledged this was unacceptable and worked hard to make things right. My impression is the subcontractor got an earful. Overall, it was the kind of interaction I've become used to as a single woman, not that it's any less irksome, but ended well enough. The issue was clearly with the subcontractor rather than Blue Sky. The quality of the actual workmanship was very good, and they cleaned up after themselves all right.

We had contacted Blue Sky based on reviews on Angie's list - we had some conversations with Kevin and he reassured us that they'd be able to have a couple of painters on the date we requested. We purchased the Angie's List deal (2 painters for 8 hours each) for $500. However, we ran into a little issue - upon our purchase, Blue Sky told us that they were having a little problem getting the painters lined up for the date we had initially requested. We expressed our concern to Kevin and he promised to call us back within an hour. Less than 30 minutes later, he called back and told us that he pulled a couple of his better painters off of other projects so they could come do ours. Very impressive! On the day of the painting, Kevin himself arrived early and made sure eveything was lined up properly. His painters arrived a little later than expected, but once they got there, they were very quick to get started. They were clean, professional, and made sure they did the work properly. Overall, a good experience with Blue Sky.

They did a great job. They were on top of the list and I didn't really do a whole lot of research other than to make sure that they did at least have good reviews. There might have been one bad review in there but that one really was just like a very hard to please customer, that was what it sounded like to me as a reader reading the review.

Painters arrived promptly at 8 am and stayed until 7:30 that evening, finishing their work. Luis returned the next day for some touch-ups, as promised. When he left at 2:30, the room looked better than it ever had.

This was FANTASTIC from start to finish. Kevin was professional and prompt. He gave me an estimate within 24 hours of my call. The job he outlined was REALISTIC - he stepped me through the repair work and was really honest about what I could expect for 8 hours. He was so great at explaining the work... but then his crew was tasked to the max and we weren't going to be able to hire them. Then, all of a sudden, he called me because one of this crews (the best one!) finished a job early - so we got to take advantage of this GREAT DEAL! Julio and his colleague were FANTASTIC professional painters, very experienced (obviously) and HARD WORKING! they never quit, even when we (guiltily) took a break to eat lunch, they kept working. We LOVE their work, and definitely plan to keep this number handy. Thank you so much for a fantastic job, and for accomodating such a TIGHT schedule. We have them 48 hours to get this together and they DELIVERED more than we expected. Thanks again.

Tom was great and worked with me to divide the work into two separate visits to accommodate other work being done in the family room. The initial prep work and dry wall installation was quality work -- even impressing the other contractor doing work for me. And the paint job which was just finished was certainly of high professional quality. The workmen were all very polite and conscientious. Tom was there on the final painting day to ensure that we had the right paint for the job. Many thanks!

Kevin Berends came to my newly purchased house which was in disastrous need of some help. The place had not been very well maintained over the past 87 years and it was really showing signs of neglect. The walls and ceiling were damaged, uneven and had lots of peeling wallpaper that had been painted over which looked hideous. Aside from that, the colors were quite ghastly. Kevin, who is always quick to respond to phone calls or email, was able to get his crew led by Raul out to my house almost immediately. Aside from finishing the job in one week instead of two, my walls looked even better than they had promised. I didn?t get Raul?s last name, but I have a hunch it would be Houdini. The mix of colors and the eggshell finish which Kevin suggested, paired with the hardwood floors makes my house look elegant. I am particularly amazed at how even my walls look, particularly in the badly damaged bathroom. The dining room now looks ready to host the next inaugural dinner. Well, it might help if I get a table and chairs first. I would definitely recommend Blue Sky Painting & Carpentry and will certainly use them in the future.
