Barlas Painting & Decorating Co

This is our second time using George Barlas and his crew of 2 other guys for interior painting. We also had him paint a large portion of the inside of our house in 2005. George came promptly to provide us with a written estimate, was able to schedule the work within 2 weeks of our contacting him, and completed the job ahead of schedule (he estimated 4 full days, but actually finished in 3!). They were very agreeable and flexible. For example, we forgot to remove a towel bar that we had decided to get rid of in our half-bathroom, etc before they painted. We took off the towel bar, and they cheerfully spackled the big holes, primed them, and came back to repaint the wall at the end of the job even though they had already finished painting the room that morning. They also cheerfully touched up the baseboards that had just been painted an hour prior when I vacuumed my daughter's room (taking advantage of having the bed and dresser moved off the wall for the first time in 6 yrs!) and messed up all the baseboard paint--whoops! If he or his crew were bothered by the presence of our 3 small kids (6, 4, and 2) and the fact that the 5 of us were literally running through their work area repeatedly over 2 hrs to get our kids' through their morning routine, breakfast, etc, and off to camp each morning, they never once showed it. They were friendly, polite, respectful, unobtrusive, and a pleasure to have in our home. He appears to take a lot of pride in the quality of his work. For example, in 2005, he had quoted us a price for the whole job which was to include two coats of paint in each room. We ended up choosing a very pale yellow for our kitchen to cover the previously white walls, and after doing two coats, he thought it needed a third coat. Our kitchen is large and has lots of nooks and crannies above and between cabinets, etc, but he went out and bought the additional paint and spent several hours putting a third coat of paint on the kitchen without charging us anything more than the original estimate. The quality of the work was excellent both in 2005 and with the more recent job, and the price was very fair on both occasions. We did have one quote for a few hundred less, but three other quotes we got for the same work were several hundred dollars more. We would definitely recommend George Barlas to friends and will use them again whenever we need interior painting.

I was anxious to get this repair and paint job done quickly. George called me back quickly and was able to schedule the work within a week and complete it in one day. I was very happy with the repair of the corners. He and his co-worker were very neat and professional. I thought the price was very good. It did not include detailed preparation and you could see some imperfections in the underlying walls.
