I met Creative Energy at the Spring Home Show in Chantilly and set an appointment for ~1 week later. The salesman, Chris, was right on time and gave me a comprehensive knowledge base and presentation on their window solutions. This well prepared me for 3 more subsequent appointments. I researched and designed my windows in a 1920's bungalow style to align with the building. A rough estimate was provided immediately based on the measurements taken at that first appointment. The estimate was in line with my expectations and within a reasonable tolerance when compared across the 4 vendors. I also researched the quality of the products presented by the vendors to make my own comparison. Once I made my tentative decision, it was necessary for the salesman to drive back up to NW Loudoun Co from Richmond (it had been explained to me that Creative Energy was looking to expand into the DC Metro area which was why they at a booth at the show). After that, the assigned project manager, Paul, had to come up and do the final measure and confirm that the design was doable. It wasn't but a reasonable alternative was suggested at the same price. The moral so far is that working with a company 150 miles away creates delays that may or may not have been avoidable with a local company. I had to light a small fire a couple times to ensure that I was getting some focus. The windows were fully drawn up (in CAD by the manufacturer) for my approval - they were not according the written description and no one at CE caught it before they was sent to me for approval. I now have angst. About 3 weeks after the order, the Ops VP (Michael Klem) called me to schedule the install and said that he had checked the windows to ensure they all lined up. I repeat that these are large and far from standard window configurations. The install began as scheduled and due to travel time and a need for the project manager to be back in Richmond that evening (they stayed in a hotel the remaining install), only one window had been installed when I returned from work that evening. I was immediately sick as I drove past the house - it (one of the stationary windows) was NOT correctly configured when built at the factory. I ranted, in two separate calls, to the VP's voice mail. By the next morning, this was given all appropriate attention. Yes, CE should have actually inspected the factory delivery to my approved specifications. The correct windows were ordered and would be here within a week. The project manager and VP had talked several times. All was well. With a bit of trepedation, I went home the next day to the in-process install of gorgeous big windows on the side. Within a week, all the windows were well-installed, the inside and outside of the house were left as if no one had worked onsite. I could not be happier with how gorgeous the windows turned out. The project manager inspected each window with me prior to my signoff of completion. My on-going satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. The one thing I do wish is that they would have used all their nice big ladders to wash the windows (just a bit smudgy) when they were done so I wouldn't have to think about doing it myself for a few months!
Description of Work: Replacement windows for first floor of my 100 year old stone house: four ~ 4'x4' stationary/picture front windows and eight 2-window-configurations for 6' x 11.6' openings on the sides of the house. House was originally a 2-room schoolhouse built in 1920. Window in home were likely from 70's, cloudy, and pretty ugly overall. Creative Energy, using lead-paint-safe practices, removed the old windows and installed vinyl windows in same openings.
