They found a couple of ways that new enterance had been created from the outside (I have a very old house) and there were pipes that were left open that were no longer used, where rat's were gaining entry. Their approach is so different from other companies and work until they find the problem.
Description of Work: I was having a problem with rat's coming into my house over the last several years.

The team from Adcocks was prompt and friendly. The bird had already removed itself by the time they arrived, so they clean out the vent, and animal proofed both the vent and our dryer exhaust.

John Adcock was the only trapper who grasped the scope of our problem and who was willing to tell us the hard truth. This was a complicated job. Mr. Adcock stuck with me as I asked him a number of questions and made himself available to consult on the phone after his initial inspection. I was impressed with his ability to look at the whole home and analyze the cause of our mice and shrew problems.
Description of Work: John Adcock came out to my home to inspect for causes of mice and shrew infestation. He thoroughly inspected our home, inside and out, and provided an information sheet and education about mice and shrew behavior and how to best maintain our home and grounds to avoid future mice and shrew activity. He advised us to regrade under our deck in order to keep water away from our home which in turn would prevent water holes from forming under our deck (which give shrews easy access). We had to hire a separate landscaping company for that component but John consulted with the landscaping company to ensure a thorough job was completed. Mr. Adcock sent a two person crew out to seal up holes, utility lines, and under our box style window using aluminum sealant. They also set traps.

I called Adcocks to trap a possum that was traveling through the attic of my townhouse and my neighbors' attics. I also asked them to remove birds from an exhaust vent. The people at Adcocks were very professional in their phone demeanor and scheduling. The trapper showed up on time, but after a cursory inspection of my attic and roof to look for the entry point, claimed that he couldn't find an entry point, and suggested that the neighbors were the cause of the problem, and that I should take it up with them. He did install a screen over my exhaust vent (which has successfully kept the birds out), and told me I could have just done it myself (the birds were not there when he arrived). He offered a partial payment credit towards another visit if I continued to have problems. I took the trapper's advice to talk to my neighbors and to "do it myself", and my neighbor and I caught the possum ourselves, without wasting any additional money.
Description of Work: Installed a screen over an exhaust vent to prevent birds from entering, unsuccesfully looked for entry points for an animal in the attic and to trap and remove the animal.

I called Adcock's, and they were able to come out the next day, but I was unavailable. They came the following day. The service technician was running late, but called to give me an estimated time of arrival - which I greatly appreciated! The job was completed within 35 minutes!

Mr. Adcock arrived on the agreed date and time. He asked me to show him the areas of concern that he explored with zeal, a flashlight, and series of ladders. After he politely listened to me give a tour of the vermin route, he performed a full inspection of the exterior to include the roof, attic and ground floor. Mr. Adcock provided me with a sheet on vulnerable areas of residential entry, proposal of repair, and placed four kill traps in the attic to ensure diminished return of said vermin until Adcock?s Trapping technicians secured/sealed the vermin?s points of entry. I accepted the entire repair proposal, provided a deposit, and set an appointment. Donald and Larry arrived on time with a friendly greeting and set to work with precision. One went to the attic to retrieve the traps with their own garbage bag and an offer to keep the empty traps in place (no thank you). The back of the pick up was set up to measure and cut the aluminum, ladders in place for the roof and two hours later Donald and Larry finished. I walked around my town home saw the heavy gauge metal grids inside the weep holes. They sealed all areas neatly without spillage on the ground or vinyl. Donald and Larry politely said goodbye and to expect a final bill in the mail. Now it is just the known residents of the town home. One mouse always came up the downspout by the bedroom ? no more. Adcock?s Trapping Service is worth the price for the peace of mind and repairs. I appreciate Adocock's Trapping Service of complete service of deter, trap and REPAIR TO PREVENT RETURN.
Description of Work: January 14, 2009 Mr Adcock perfomed an interior and exterior inspection of my Woodbridge town home and placed of four traps in the attic. All repair work proposed and performed on February 16, 2009: Roof Area: Installing a one way door in the corner Install 40 ft of Almond (my trim color) aluminum channels on bottom left Right front rake boards (notation to use additional screws and silicone to secure rakes) Seal gaps in drip edge in front corners Screen tops of outlets for downspouts in gutters Foundation: Seal large gap between siding and brick veneer at left rear corner Screen all weep holes Seal bottom of all siding corner posts Seal A/C and cable lines

I thought their work was fine, and they came right away. However, many months later I got a call and was told that I still owed from part of the price of the cap. I called her back and let her know that I had confirmed that I did pay. She said I would have to send her copies to prove that. She was very snotty, and I think the burden should fall back on them, not on me to check their books.

His service is pricey. He is definitely knowledgeable, but I think $250 is steep for what he did. He gave me a write up with all the gaps he found where the snake could have come in. And he wrote up what we should do to seal those holes. To fill all the gaps and add interior door sweeps and screen the lower level bath exhaust vent would have cost about $430. He suggested replacing our crawl space door with a 23" x 32" heavy aluminum plate door for $340. I had my contractor come back and fill the holes with hardening foam spray - for no charge, since he had made the gaps in the first place.
Description of Work: John came out after I called him about a baby snake that had been found in our lower level of the house. He inspected the area of the laundry room where the snake was found and did a general inspection around the base of the house and in our crawl space under the addition on our house. He also put out some large sticky traps for catching snakes.

Mr Turner did an excellent job. However, I was not informed when he could not show up at the agreed upon date for the prevention collar. Fortunately, I did not take any time off work and relied on a neighbor to monitor the work, and Mr Turner did arrive within half hour (about 1:30 PM) of the agreed upon time frame (between 11 AM and 1 PM) the next day. I realize that this is a business where weather and other factors greatly influence actual arrival time, but I also hope that next time I call them, I will get a better accountability of when they can arrive. A similar situation occurred for the first two jobs- followup visits to check the traps were not done as scheduled, nor was a door tag left to indicate their presence (as promised) after the first followup visit. But they ultimately delivered and did a great job on all three tasks.

Initially I could not have been more pleased. Everything was going so smoothly I began to tell everyone I knew that they should definitely use this company for any animal issues. The mother raccoon cooperated and was trapped the following day. The babies were cut out of the bedroom wall shortly thereafter. Note that they do not repair drywall, the 350 fee was for trapping the mother and removing the babies only. My problems began when the soffit through which the mother was entering was left open. The person who picked up the babies told me he would be back the next day to close the soffit until the company could seal it, for which I would pay a repair fee. It was two calls later and several days before the soffit was temporarily closed with a plastic bag sticking out of it. It then began to rain and I understood, but not having heard anything and still having a plastic bag sticking out of the soffit for several weeks, I attempted to call (this week) regarding the repair and was told I would receive a call back as they were busy on the phone. I have yet to receive a call and have now grown tired of the chase. I will now have to find someone to make the necessary repairs. I should add that I am dealing with the Virginia branch of this company which may make a difference...or not. I will say that the animals were removed promptly, had I not been trying to have the repairs done through them it would have been a very satisfactory experience. My rating has to do with my frustrations following the removal.

They were polite and knowledgeable. First appointment was 1.5 hours late with no call or explanation. (Be home between 9-12 and they finally showed up at 1:30 after I called them twice.) They were in and out in 15 minutes. They were on time for repair job. $350 fee for animal removal ($95 discount because they didn't catch anything in the trap but critters vacated on their own.) seemed pricey. Replacement with upgraded screening seemed a bit above average but not outrageous.

We had a couple of squirrels get into our house. We called Adcock and they came out the next morning, right on time. They offered a flat fee of $300 for trapping the squirrels, as many as were getting into the house. They also fixed the places where the squirrels were getting in by installing metal mesh over the gable vents and attic fan vent for $250.00. It took about a week to trap all of the squirrels, they kept coming back to check the traps each day while we were at work. They did a great job, I would highly recommend them.

The work went very well with this company. They came very soon after I called them to review the problem. After looking over my roof and the rest of the outside of the house they came up with a plan for trapping, repairs, and prevention. The next day they returned with traps and began the trapping, which took about a week. After determining that all the squirrels were gone, they sealed the entrance points and completed the repairs and prevention plan. The workers were quite responsive and quick to do what they said they were going to do. There was a bit of confusion between the office and the field workers. Sometimes the office didn't know that they were at my place, or what they were doing. This didn't significantly effect the job that the field workers did.
Description of Work: Adcocks trapped and removed two squirrels over the period of one week. After the squirrels were gone from my attic, they did repairs on my end gable vent and two holes at the roof line. They installed metal drip edge along the entire roof edge to keep the squirrels from eating into the fascia board again. They placed heavy gage wire over the gable vents to prevent damage in the future. They also encased my attic fan roof vent in heavy gage wire.

If you have a rat problem these guys are the best. These guys are real detectives and will find where the rats are coming from and how to stop them!
Description of Work: We have a 130 year old house on Capitol Hill and have had rat problems over the years. Other exterminators have put out traps or poison but did not solve the problem. Adcock found the major pathway and repaired it (the high price was for the repair). When a few rats started coming back, they ran a smoke test and found a crack in sewer pipe that is the probable point of entry under the basement floor.
