He noticed that the screen on the attic fan was torn and noticed an area in the insulation that also looked like a nest. He addressed the areas and i have not noticed any new signs of animals. He replaced the screen on attic fan and also had an area re addressed by his company that they had worked on before. There was not an appointment fee.
Description of Work: They came to address some animal noises related to some exterior holes.

I was selling my house and moving in just a few days when I started hearing crying babies from my fireplace. Adcocks kindly and humanely found the raccoons that were nested below my fireplace. Mother and a couple of babies. Mother got out, he got out the babies safely and then explained what I could do so that the mother would return and collect them. He also offered to take the babies. I followed his instructions and the babies were collected by their mother overnight.
Description of Work: Found and removed a raccoon family that was nesting below my fireplace in the ash bin.

Prompt. knowledgeable. Raccoon-savvy. Not cheap, but quality work. Neat, strong and all work comes with a 5-year warranty against animal re-entry. Now, if a critter breaks in, Adcock pays for the damage. (Raccoons once did $6,000 damage to my attic.) I have been trying several different techniques to construct barriers to the raccoons climbing the corners of my siding. Adcock's approach was different -- "You can't stop em from climbing up on your roof; let em. But when they find all their entries sealed with 24-guage metal, they will move on -- to your neighbor's house." ;-) Yes, I warned them. I'm giving Adcock's a conditional rating of 'A'. We'll see if I make any new raccoon friends in the next 5 years.
Description of Work: Actually, the morning Adcock was due to arrive, the momma raccoon found its way into my trap (marshmallows). So I hired Adcock to "raccoon-proof" my home. Since raccoons can easily climb up the corners of my aluminum siding, Mike recommended we deal with their entry points -- four roof apexes where the lower roof meets soffit of upper roof. He sealed each apex with 24-guage aluminum "boxed out" using screws. And he installed 120' of metal drip edge on my roof line to protect sheathing and facia board from all wildlife. (There had been signs of attempted entry through the sheathing.)

The technician surveyed the attic and the yard around the house. He told us indeed there were mice in the attic but that Adcock specializes in eliminating the "openings" in a home that rodents would enter through; not extermination. He said we would receive an estimate for the cost of "closing" all of the modes of entry for the rodents within a few days. It's been over a week now and we haven't received an estimate. We haven't heard the mice in the attic since the inspection either so I guess that's gppd news.
Description of Work: We called Adcock because we heard noises in our attic. The service desk was very responsive. I left a vm. in the morning and received a phone called by 11:30 am with an appointment scheduled for the same day.

I could not be happier. I travel a lot for work and they worked my schedule so that the squirrels would be trapped and removed in a humane manner. These guys are great and they guarantee their work. There were no additional charges.
Description of Work: Adcock's came out and assessed my squirrel problem. Clint was on time and did a thorough check of the areas where the squirrel were entering the house. He explained what they do to get rid of the squirrels and all charges. JP came out and set traps and checked them daily, trapping a total of 4 squirrels. After determining that he got them all, he sealed the openings and I ahve had no further issues.

We have a bat problem in my townhouse community and a bat go into my house. Adcock came and inspected my house and determined it was a lone incident and that my house was not infested, however, there were areas Adcock sealed to prevent future entrance. They thoroughly described how bats get into homes and the best way to keep them out. They clearly explained where the work would be performed and what paperwork I needed to file the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (species protection paperwork), and their work guarantees. We scheduled the time and the work was completed as scheduled.
Description of Work: Inspected the dwelling for bat infestation Inspected the dwelling for possible points of entry Clearly explained how the job would be performed Wrote up a detailed estimate Clearly explained that I needed to submit a letter to the MD DNR for a dispensation with instructions on how to access form letter Scheduled the work visit, and they also called as a reminder the day before Completed the work within the time frame and cleaned up after themselves The provided invoice was clear and concise

We had originally called Adcocks due to noises in our walls, but played telephone tag with them with them not calling us back last time we left a message. The noise stopped, so we did not bother calling back. Then we noticed guano on our walk way and shutter; when we sprayed our shutter with water, out flew two bats! We called a few of the other pest control people on Angie's list, but they would not come since the bats were outside of the house. We checked with the USDA and Adcocks was on their list of "Nuisance Wildlife Control Cooperators," so we called again. This time they told us how much it would be ($95 for inspection up to $350 for work) and schedule an appointment. Bob was on time and professional. He inspected the shutter where the guano was and confirmed the bats were no longer there. Inspected all our shutters showing me where the loose one was that I should have tightened. He described the bats behavior and suggested I probably scared them off and they would not return. He told me what I could do if they did return. Adcocks does have a service where they seal the gap between the shutter and the siding and he gave me an estimate on that service. However, when I mentioned we would be changing the siding in a year or two he said we should consider if it would be worth it. Very happy with the service and would have them out again if needed.
Description of Work: Inspected shutters for bats made recommendations and provided estimate for all recommendations.

I contacted Adcock's after finding a bat in my living room—I wanted to have someone check out our attic to see if this was a random occurrence or a bigger problem. The person I scheduled the appointment with was friendly and helpful. She briefly explained the process of "bat exclusion" that they undertake to remove bats and was able to schedule an appointment within 48 hours of my call. The actual inspector/exterminator (not sure what you call them) was friendly and knowledgeable. I had been given a time slot for when he would show up, but he called to see if he could come out earlier, and I agreed to this. After he arrived, he inspected the attic for 10–15 minutes and found evidence of "bat activity." He then spent another 20 minutes on the roof looking for "points of entry." Fortunately (or unfortunately?), he explained that he had called his company to verify that someone had been out two years ago (before we bought our townhouse) and did some sealing work, and he also informed me that a neighbor to one side of us had used them as well. However, this time around, he suspected that our problem was resulting from bats occasionally coming in from our other neighbor's attic --> through the space in the firewall between our houses --> through our walls/attic. He suggested we contact our neighbor, who wasn't home at the time, to see if they'd be agreeable to having someone over to inspect. Right now we're in the midst of working this out with our neighbor. If she doesn't agree to have anything done with her property, I will call Adcock's to come out and do what they can and hope that I don't see anymore bats!

Their servicemen behaved quite professionally, were prompt, and kept me informed every day as to the number of squirrels captured. I particularly liked the fact that the squirrel removal fee was independent of how many squirrels would be caught.
Description of Work: I called Adcocks to remove squirrels from the inside of my roof and from kitchen fan and clothes dryer vents. They very patiently removed about eight squirrels from live traps set on my roof, taking almost two weeks before there were no longer any signs of squirrel reentry. After that they repaired the damage the squirrels had done to the tube leading to the clothes dryer vent, cleaned out the nesting material the squirrels had dragged in, and placed appropriate covers on the vents to prevent any future squirrel entries. I also had them place a stronger screen on the perimeter of the attic exhaust fan.

Overall, a great experience. Very professional. Don't hesitate to call these folks.
Description of Work: Job was to trap squirrels in attic and secure entrances. Adcock scheduled an appointment right away and Kevin came out to investigate the attic (the only time they had to come inside) and checking the roof. An estimate was given to set cages along the roof line and monitor where the squirrels were entering at two damaged gabled vents; install screens over the damaged gabled vents; and replace two chimney caps. The trapping took about almost 2 weeks to complete because there were several squirrels involved. A progress report was left daily in the form of a door hanger, which I thought is a great way to keeping the customer informed. While the monitoring was going on, screens were neatly installed to the entrances of the gable vents and the chimney caps were replaced. It was also recommended I have aluminum drip edges installed, too, to tightly secure all entrance points, but I declined that service since an overall roof replacement job with that feature was pending.

They were really good. They trapped the squirrels and also put up a mesh to make sure that they didn?t get back in. It is a family-run company, and they were extremely helpful, nice and really responsive. They were exactly what we needed, and we really liked them. The price seemed pretty comparable to others. I would highly recommend them. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

I was pleased with Adcocks and they resolved the problem by catching the squirrel. They were responsive on the phone and set up an appointment immediately. The inspector didn't go into our attic (crawlspace) to inspect, which I found surprising, but he must have seen enough from going on the roof and inspecting from the outside to know of the issue and how to resolve it. He inspected both the problem area that I pointed out as well as other potential future problem areas and made clear repair recommendations with a clearly stated price. Before he left that day, he set up the traps on the gutters by our roof. Trapping was a bit haywire due to a snowstorm that hit in the middle of that week, but despite the uncooperative mother nature, they eventually caught a squirrel and removed it from the premises. About a week later, the repairs were completed (after I called the office to accept the proposal) and the job was complete. We've had no problems since, so it was successful. They were reliable and effective in what they did, and I would recommend them.. Trapping price, while high in absolute dollars ($350), is nearly identical to competitors. Repair costs ($425) did feel a bit pricey relative to the work involved, but I didn't really have any other bids on which to compare, so perhaps they were in line too. Only thing I would have liked was more frequent (i.e. daily) communication as to progress on the trapping. During the snowstorm, the traps were left in place, but I don't think anybody came by to check on them (understandable due to weather), but I wasn't 100% certain if anybody had come by to check, and if not, when they planned to resume. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my experience with Adcocks, would highly recommend them, and definitely would use them again if I'm unfortunate enough to have another animal problem in the future.

I could hear something in my attic (actually, a crawlspace under my roof -- there is no access to it from inside my house). Adcock's sent two men over exactly when they said they would; they found two spots where squirrels had gnawed into the attic and gave me a written estimate for a series of options. They included an Angie's List discount. Adcock's set humane traps with peanuts and monitored (and captured) animals for a week. They said they would check the traps every day. Since I work, I have no way of knowing if they turned up every day but I believe they did. Twice they left notes and one morning I saw a worker on the roof. After the trapping was finished, I hired them to put a metal drip-edge behind my gutters. (I only had wood there, which is how the squirrels were able to get in.) They did that and billed me in the mail for $377.81, the exact price they quoted minus another Angie's List discount. They were fast and professional. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: They humanely trapped squirrels that had made their way into my attic. They set up three traps on my roof near the two entries the squirrels had gnawed. The work is guaranteed for five years. After they completed the trapping, I also hired Adcock's Trapping to make repairs that would keep squirrels out in the future.

I think they did a good job. They didn't succeed in catching the animal but they tried. However, the animal was scared enough to leave my house and it has not come back. It was $95 just to come out and look at the problem, that seemed high but then they deducted that from the cost of the removal. Then they repaired the roof for $250 minus the $95, the raccoon made a huge hole in my roof. I looked in the phone book and the reason I chose them is because they said "humane removal". They said if it's a squirrel they catch in your house they will trap it live and then go 10 miles away and release it. If it's a raccoon they catch, the Montgomery County says they have to humanely euthanize them. If they caught it they would have still had to take it back to their facility. That's another reason I would recommend them, because it's a humane removal. They are also good at communicating, they would leave notes on my door every day with the progress and whether they did or did not catch it and set traps. They didn't set the trap on the weekends because they didn't want the animal to free over night if it was trapped. There was an option of having another company come in and do the roof repair, but I thought their price was pretty reasonable. I have a two story house so I haven't seen the repair but I assume it was fine.

I am very pleased with the service I received. I appreciated getting different options for handling the animal problems (did I want to have the few unblocked soffit vents addressed, or all of them? Did I want to do something about mice?) The only issue I had was that the final bill- which was mailed- took a little time to show up, as my address was not fully visible from the envelop window. That said, I would absolutely hire this company again- and- I should add- the work that was performed is guaranteed for something like 5 years! Wonderful.
Description of Work: Hired Adcock's to address animals getting into my attic. Company was prompt in response; they showed up the next day, carefully scanned the exterior of my home, including the fascia and the roof, and then also inspected the attic. They informed me that birds, mice, and squirrels had been in my attic at one point or another, and they identified the points of entry- a few unblocked soffit vents, and a clawed-up attic fan were of particular interest (having never seen a mouse in my home, I decided not to address mice). They also suggested a few options for handling the various issues. They set up a few things (duct tape around the soffit vents, and a plastic bag around the attic fan- all to determine whether an animal would try to regain entry), and then showed up a couple of days later to attach hardware cloth to all 25 soffit vents, and also to band the attic fan with expanded metal. (There was no evidence of animals trying to get back into the attic, so there was no need to set traps.)

My greatest fear was hearing the raccoons rummaging in the ceiling in the living room where they entered through the wall crawl spaces. They arrived within 48 hours, inspected and set the traps the following day, retrieved the traps within 48 hours, closed all entry points, and contructed the blocking barriers during the same visit. I'm relieved. This was the third event; first it was the squirrels, then possums, and now the raccoons. The tree limbs near the house were also trimmed to prevent the critters from leaping onto the roof.
Description of Work: The service include inspecting the roof, rooflines, and housing perimeter for evidence of animals. Setting of traps (humane) to capture the established raccoons' entry via attic exhaust cap. Confirming that no animals remained on the premises by placing a low resistance barrier around attic exhaust cap and then sealing cap with heavy gauge wire mesh. Also, built a plywood blocking structures under dormers to prevent animals from using the corners as protective covers.
