We had something in our attic, and they came and did an assessment and placed some traps. Turned out to be mice, so then we paid for a full-house inspection, and they found a lot of evidence of mice. They recommended a package of things for the home to help mouse-proof it. I explained that we couldn't afford all of that, and they were very good about discussing priorities while also noting that mice could still get in if we didn't plug all the holes. After learning that our neighbors had ended up with snakes in their attack due to a mouse problem, we decided to spring for the whole package, which was a bit less than $1,000 (including a new "door" for our crawl space -- the biggest ticket item). I can't judge price very well, as I don't know what other people cost, but we were happy with their responsiveness, professionalism, and a no-pressure approach. Since they fixed the house several weeks ago, we haven't had any more mice in the house so far.
Description of Work: Initial attic inspection, then whole house inspection. Then "mouse proofed" the house (e.g. new crawl space door, wires over weep holes, etc).

We called for an emergency service call on a Saturday, we had birds building a nest behind our soffit above our bedroom, my wife couldn't sleep at night with the noise. They came within a few hours of the call and within 30 minutes the beginnings of a nest were removed, missing pieces of the soffit were secured and a one-way exit was inserted in case there was a bird trapped in the attic. They will come back in a week to remove the exit and replace the last piece of the soffit.

They were excellent. After a month of placing the traps, they came out and took the traps down and then they inspected everything to see where they could be getting in. Then we had a mouse problem and they came out again put traps up in the ceiling. They came back several times to check for the traps.
Description of Work: I have used Adcocks Trapping Service. We had flying squirrels in our attic, so they set up one-way traps in various places on our roof. They also put moues traps for me.

My problem is, I was thinking of birds coming in our chimney and they haven't seen any birds but they did covered up the possible entry points of birds. I like them because they believed me, I have spoken with a couple of other service provider and they told me that there is no way that birds getting in but when I called this people, they said, absolutely it was possible.

It was a positive, professional job from start to finish. Mike came the day after we called and figured out we had a raccoon living in out attic after just a few minutes. He set a trap and the raccoon was trapped and taken away the next morning. Mike followed up over the weekend to make sure no other animals were involved and made recommendations for securing the attic. The repairs were scheduled for the following week and completed as scheduled. Every one from Adcock's we dealt with was friendly and professional. They were right on schedule and fixed our issue quickly. They also provided a five year warranty for the work they performed. We are very pleased with the help they provided.
Description of Work: Responded to our call about something living in our attic. Mike quickly determined it was a raccoon, set a trap and it was caught and relocated the next morning. Mike made recommendations for repairing the entry point and securing other potential entry points to our house. The repairs were made the following week.

Upon further inspection by the owner he determined that it was beyond the scope of their trapping services., therefore we were told they would refund the $95.00 estimate fee. He recommeded that we get a roofing and carpentry company out to repair the roof beforehand. After that work is done they would be happy to come back if there is still a need. I thought that was going above & beyond. It was very generous and considerate. We will definitely recommend them to anyone that we know is in need of a trapping service.

Bravo x 2. I said "Bravo" on my previous review. Squirrels are gone and haven't come back. Adcock's must have bagged about 7 squirrels over a period of 2 months, all for the same $375. I appreciate their stick-to-it-iveness; seeing the job all the way through. They got a B because squirrels re-entered the attic after a couple of trappings and sealings by their technician; that was frustrating. I think they should have capped the side-ends of the gutter in the beginning. However, I also have to credit my roofer for installing gutter guards that they're standing by, stating they would be nearly impossible for a squirrel to penetrate. Maybe I helped by tossing a bunch of mothballs in the attic? Tough to breath around those. Anyway, they're gone. I used to like squirrels. Adcock: ya done good. Thank you.

Professional, but didn't provide much value added, including on advising where to put the traps vis-a-vis what I would have done myself. Receptionist not particularly helpful. Opossum wasn't captured, trap location was unchanged over 3 days (with closing down of the trapping during the w/e). Communication with leaflets hung on the handle, but one got lost.

Bravo to Adcock's. I'm upgrading them from a "C" to a "B." It's because they're still following up into the 2nd month. I told them I still heard squirrels. So if they didn't succeed, they should live up to their reputation, right? Anyway, another technician came out, checked my attic for entry points, and patched where the squirrels gnawed in. He also recommended a drip-guard for the gutter or a leaf-guard system as a permanent solution. When they started treatment, I suggested they check the attic. They only wanted to lay traps on the roof. But today they finally did go in the attic. The tech. explained that squirrels are territorial. When offspring try to return home, they get pushed away by the parents. But if the parents got trapped and hauled off, there's nothing to stop the next generation. And so on. Adcock's can't guarantee the problem will go away forever. They did say things will quiet down indefinitely, after placing another pair of traps on my roof. A solution is pending. I'm glad they're giving the service they should, of following up at no extra cost.. We'll see the outcome.

They removed the squirrels that WERE in my attic, but didn't prevent new ones from coming in. For any amount of money you pay, you expect what you want in return. Otherwise, we would not bother with any sort of commerce. Because I still have squirrels, and not the whole removal solution, I was met halfway. This is why I'm giving them a halfway mark of "C." They'd have gotten an "A" if I couldn't hear squirrels running around the flipside of my ceiling and in between my walls. They set traps on my roof for the better part of a month. My attic did quiet down noticeably toward the end of the period. Yet last night I could no longer pretend the noises heard was a tree scraping the shingles. Adcock's said they don't trap from the inside. I am concerned about damage these squirrels could be doing inside my attic. They offered a $1,050 proposal to line my gutter with a drip edge. However, my roofing contractor said it's best to install one on a new roof. Despite Adcock's years in business, you expect what you want and hopefully more. I got less. I'd also appreciate that their staff expert refrain from her somewhat curt phone manner--enough that I'd take notice. She was not rude, however, I read the same sentiments on Yelp. By contrast, the technician explained everything thoroughly. I just want all the squirrels out, is all.

I knew that I had squirrels in the attic (I'd seen them go in and out). The service man arrived right on time, was very professional. I showed him where the issues were, and he did a full inspection both in the attic and outside the house. He went over the issues clearly, gave an estimate, and described the process of removal. Each time a technician came out to check/empty the traps, I received a notice, and a call when everything was done. I haven't had a problem since. They also provided an estimate for repairs to my gutters, but I already had a gutter technician on it.

My phone call to schedule an appointment went very well. The receptionist returned my phone call and explained in detail how the company works and any cost involved. The gentleman called me 20-30 minutes prior to arrival which I had requested. The guy was very professional and went over what he was going to do and made recommendations. Although I hope to not have to call again, I would definitely use the company again if needed. Since he did not see any signs of entry for an animal no traps where left.
Description of Work: My initial call to the company was to request someone to determine if an animal was in the attic. Upon further investigation, the guy that came out did not see any signs of an animal within the house. He stated that it could be a mouse and he set traps in the attic.

Everyone was prompt in coming out and the price was reasonable. So far, we haven't seen any evidence of mice since they have been here. We were pleased with the service and would recommend them.
Description of Work: Adcock sent someone out to assess our house after we called about a pretty serious mouse issue (catching about 1 every 1-2 weeks in traps we set.) After surveying our house and identifying hte most likely areas of entry, they recommended that we block a couple of issue spots (air conditioner access and the bottom of an extension to the house) and I arranged to have someone come back out and complete the service.

We chose Adcocks Trapping Services because of their reviews on Angie?s List; however, we were very disappointed with their timeliness, billing, and customer service. They certainly did not live up to their Angie?s List scores. We will never hire Adcocks again. It?s too time-consuming to monitor, babysit, and follow up on them. Last week some friends asked to recommend the company that we used to remove the squirrel, and our resounding response was, ?DO NOT USE ADCOCKs!!? Below is a timeline to show Adcocks lack of timeliness, problems with billing, and profound lack of customer service: We contacted Adcocks on June 19 to set up an appointment. At that time, we asked whether the company had ladders tall enough to reach our fourth-floor roof line; they said that it wasn?t a problem. They came out on June 26. We got a call a few minutes before the end of the appointment to say that they were running late. In the end, he arrived about two hours after the 4-hour window. At the appointment, we were told that the area of the hole was too difficult to reach with the ladders that the company had and that they would have to bring a construction crew out to do the work. So, no trap was set at the appointment. The representative said that it would be cost prohibitive to send a construction crew in daily to check the trap and recommended that we only install a one-way door, also called a counter trap, which would be installed at a later date. The man provided a handwritten quote that outlined several options. Before leaving, the representative indicated that Adcocks has a $25 coupon on Angie?s List. This visit/quote cost $95, payable on the spot, but the amount can be applied to future services. We realized that we had a few additional questions, so we called Adcocks that evening. We asked why they couldn?t set the trap at one of the lower levels of the house and were told that it wouldn?t do any good because there was no guarantee that we?d catch the offending squirrels. After discussing all the recommendations with Adcocks, we authorized them to install the counter trap, install drip edge in three locations, and seal the hole that the squirrel chewed into our house. We asked Adcocks to set a date for the installation of the trap. We were told that it didn?t matter whether we were home or not because the work would be performed outside the house. They would come whenever they were in the neighborhood. After the authorization, Adcocks mailed us an invoice, which mirrored the handwritten quote. We called Adcocks to ask whether the invoice was due now or after work is complete. Adcocks indicated that it?s due after the completion of the authorized work. Feeling uncomfortable about Adcocks recommendation to not relocate the squirrels and the lack of a date for counter trap installation (the squirrels were still entering our house), we borrowed a squirrel trap. We trapped and relocated two squirrels in one day, at which point we saw a near 100% decline in squirrel activity. A couple of weeks went by and there was no indication that Adcocks had done any work. We called them for an update and were told they would be there the following week, a month after our original call. July 18, Adcocks installed a counter trap. We weren?t home, so they left a note for us stating that they installed the trap (no mention of drip edge). The counter trap was visible. Shortly after the trap was installed, Adcocks mailed us another invoice. We called Adcocks to ask whether we should pay the bill now (after some work had been done) or wait until all of the work was done. Adcocks indicated that we could wait until all the work was complete. Several weeks later, we received another invoice. Again, Adcocks confirmed that we did not have to pay until the work was complete. On August 27, we called Adcocks to remind them that the counter trap was still had not been removed, as it had been there significantly longer than the two week timeframe quoted on the invoice. They put us on the schedule for August 29. On August 29, Adcocks came to our house. We weren?t home, so they left a note for us stating that they removed the trap and sealed the opening (no mention of drip edge). When we got home, we noticed that the trap was gone. We pulled out our ladder and climbed up to the lower roof edge to confirm that the drip edge had been installed. We checked the ?right side rear low roof? (where 10 feet of drip edge should have been installed, according to the invoice), and there was no drip edge. Of the three areas where the drip edge was supposed to be installed, this is the only place our ladder would reach. That evening, I called Adcocks to get confirmation that the drip edge has been installed. I reached the after-hours service. The woman took my name and number and said that someone would call me the following day. I did not receive a call. I called again the following week. The person who answered took my name and contact information, and said that one would call me the following day. I did not receive a call. On September 5, I called again. I explained that we had not received any written or verbal confirmation that the drip edge had been installed. The woman on the phone was quite rude, and said that she had ?no record of it.? This raised my suspicion and made me question whether it had already been installed. In the course of the conversation, she insinuated that it was my fault for waiting so long to call and ask about whether work had been done. We went round-and-round for a while, and I realized that the only way to resolve this was to have someone come out. We scheduled an appointment for September 18 for someone to come out and either show us the drip edge or to install it. On September 12, Adcocks left a voicemail about a past-due invoice, dating back to July. I was confused; I had been told repeatedly that the bill wasn?t due until all work was completed. I called back. I explained that I was never notified that all the work had been completed and that I have an appointment for September 18. The woman explained that she just does the billing and doesn?t know what work has or has not been done ? and did not know that I had an appointment. She reiterated that I didn?t have to pay the bill until work was complete. I asked to speak with a supervisor or the owner to discuss my situation. A supervisor wasn?t available, so the woman took my name and number. I received a call later from a supervisor. I expressed my confusion about the number of invoices (and now a past-due bill phone call!) that Adcocks had sent. I also expressed my disappointment with how long it was taking them to do the work (almost 3 months from our initial contact with Adcocks and 2 months since the trap installation). The supervisor was quite rude. She said that the drip edge had been installed back on July 18. I told her that we had never been notified of that and that we climbed up on our ladder and we were unable to see it. Also, when I previously called, another employee told me that she ?had no record of it.? The supervisor went on to tell me that it made no sense to install a trap without installing drip edge, insinuating that I was stupid not to know that. I asked her why I wasn?t notified of the installation or the installation process when I called previously. Those two pieces of information would have saved us both several weeks of run-around. On September 18, an Adcocks employee came to our house; he arrived within the two-hour window. He was very patient and great at explaining about drip edge. He climbed up on his ladder to take pictures of the drip edge to show me. Note: contrary to what we had been told, this representative did not require any special equipment to reach the area. I explained to him that the invoice indicates that the drip edge should be installed on the ?right side rear low roof?, but that we didn?t see it from our ladder. He indicated that the drip edge was actually installed on the left side. The reason that we hadn?t previously seen the drip edge was because it wasn?t installed where we were looking. I?m not sure why it was installed in a different place than was authorized, but I was glad to see that it was installed. I gave him a check for the full amount (minus $25 for the Angie?s List coupon). Also in the envelope I included the invoice and the Angie?s List coupon. On September 21, we received another bill stating that we still owed $25. I called the number listed on the invoice, explained my billing situation, and asked why Adcocks was failing to honor the Angie?s List coupon. I had reached the after-hours line. He offered to take my name and number and promised that someone would contact me the following day. I explained that I had reached the after-hours line twice before, and never received a call back. He apologized for the previous inconveniences, and assured me that I would receive a call next-day. On September 22, I did not receive a call from them, as had been promised. I called them back after 5pm and reached the after-hours voicemail. I left a message. On September 23, I finally received a call from Adcocks stating that they removed the $25 charge from my bill; they decided to honor the coupon. The woman on the phone apologized for the mistake. I requested that she send another copy of the invoice that shows that our account balance is zero. We?re still waiting for that. In summary it took 3 months and we had to make a lot of follow up phone calls to complete this project, which by their estimates shouldn?t have taken 3 weeks. They did a poor job of communicating. To be fair, the quality of the work seems fine (though we can?t reach the areas to really inspect it) and their prices were competitive, though slightly higher than some other estimates we received. We chose to use Adcocks over other companies based on the Angie?s List reviews. It was not a good experience.

Dear Member, Thank you for taking a considerable amount of time to express your dissatisfaction with the service you received at your home. I sincerely appreciate your feedback as a business owner. This can be extremely helpful in making sure that we provide quality service at a reasonable cost to most homeowners that we work with in an attempt to resolve problems and concerns permanently as possible. As I stated in our subsequent phone conversation mistakes were made on the part of our office staff. Referring to the missed phone call alerting you specifically that your discount as an Angie's List member would be honored. As I know that I personally spoke with you that evening and my staff revised the bill but did not follow up with the phone call as promised by me. I reprimanded them. As for the additional problems regarding follow up phone call communication on the status of the job, and billing questions I cannot say for certain although I can say for certain that some of your comments were without merit. As I was the original technician or representative to visit your home. Your comment about my delay was not accurate. I called you approx. 30-45 minutes prior to the original time frame and asked if it would be alright to rearrange the time frame because I had another appointment and it would likely save me as least an hour of drive time not having to back track to my other inspection/appointment. You told me that, that would be fine as that was the day you worked from home and that it would not be inconvenient. Had you indicated other wise I would have made it to your home on time or extremely close. For that I was very thankful. As for the statement of our company not having the appropriate ladder to reach the entry point the squirrels were using to enter your home. This was also incorrect as I explained to you and to your husband during our conversation later that evening there were many factors involved in my recommendation not to trap the squirrels in your particular situation. The location of the opening was above your deck but was obstructed due to the cut portion of the deck where the air conditioning unit was placed. The area was absolutely the most difficult place on your entire home to safely access especially for one person carrying tools, traps and probably squirrels up and down ladders. Most likely 5-7 different times as is typical for most trapping jobs. If the deck was wet or even damp it would be even more dangerous and impossible without screwing down the ladder to your deck. In addition to access the back of you home required our staff to carry a ladder a significant distance. I would estimate 200 feet or more each visit. I did not tell you there was any special equipment required to reach the area only that it would be difficult, time consuming and possibly dangerous to our staff to trap. It is much easier to look at and take pictures of an area that it is to actually do physical work ie. trapping or repairing those places. That was the main justification in my recommendation to install the one way door. As we do normally recommend trapping and removal for squirrel problems in your case it would have been more expensive to send one of our construction crews for those multiple visits to do the trapping than it cost to perform the significant repairs that were done at your home. In regards to your statement that it took a month to install the one way door I know that I spoke with your husband the evening of the initial inspection but I do not recall him authorizing the repairs at that time. As you told me you were not really sure either. Once again I sincerely apologize for our mistakes regarding the handling of your phone calls and obviously poor communications in regards to the status of your job. As I also communicated to you on the follow up call we do not have an after hours service, it is our emergency service line we do normally answer the phones whenever possible. The calls are rolled over from our office with a staff of (3) ladies during most business hours, to our homes or cell phones after normal hours. I believe this may have contributed to some of the frustration and confusion with getting your job completed. As I noted many of your calls were after hours. I am not trying to minimize your concerns or complaints as I truly believe on this particular job we obviously dropped the ball on multiple occasions and I greatly appreciate your bringing these concerns to my attention. I assure you and all Angie's List members we will correct and learn from these mistakes as we continue to provide the best animal removal service and repairs to all of our customers. Humbly & Sincerely, John Adcock Jr.

We wound up having the work done by a friend but I was very satisfied with Adcocks Trapping Service - from the initial phone call to the inspector arriving on time and providing a lengthy inspection. I was really creeped out about the bat being in my living room but felt much better after the inspection!
Description of Work: The inspector came out and did a very thorough inspection of my roof, attic, crawl spaces, etc to find evidence of a bat! He did find the bat but unfortunately couldn't remove because it was in the soffit area of my roof. He was very knowledgeable about bats and the laws surrounding their protection. The written inspection was thorough as well.

Problem seems to be solved. We had a raccoon coming up on our deck and scaring my children. Traps seem to have solved the problem.
Description of Work: Set and baited traps for 3 days. Caught a raccoon and an opossum on successive nights.
