See above, the job has required me to take 3 days off work and I have an unvented propane cooktop and an open duct with the Polar Vortex invading my Kitchen. The story is not over yet but it is bad enough to declare this outfit fundamentally incompetent to provide the goods and services that they are selling.
Description of Work: We purchased a cooktop on 15 December. This required a pre installation visit, they decide the date and time window no flexibility. Then installation on 22 December, the service provider could not complete the installation and referred it to the service department. At that time the service department alleged that a part did not come with the appliance that was necessary for the installation. I was and still am skeptical. It became clear that Bray and Scarff did not consider this to be their problem, it was our problem. It was not until 12 February that I could get away from work to show up at whatever time they decided to come. At this time the service person came, though he conducted himself in a professional manner he was completely useless. He spent 5 minutes and declared that this was not a "service" problem but an "installation" problem therefore he could not do it even though he was clearly capable of performing the work. In spite of e-mails and phone calls to customer service and the salesman who touted the wonders of the services provided has responded except for a robotic response that the matter had been referred. I would prefer, at this point, to find another vendor to uninstall the cooktop so I can return it to Bray and Scarff. I do not feel the least bit reassured that a future problem with the appliance will be dealt with competently.

Description of Work: 4 new GE appliances. Refrigerator not cooling properly since day 1. GE has made 3 service calls in 10 day with no results. Product is only 1 month old. Still waiting for Bray and Scarf to stand by their product sold.

Description of Work: My washing machine went up, and I decided it may be time to replace both washer and dryer. Because I live in a condo, the washer and dryer have to be a certain size to fit in the small, custom made closet. I had dimension, but they came out an re-measured, and everything fit just fine.

I FIRST CALLED TO REPORT THE PROBLEM TO THE BRAY AND SCARF SERVICE CENTER ON 4/25/14. I HAD TO WAIT TILL MAY 5TH (THAT IS 10 DAYS) FOR A SERVICE REPAIR VISIT. THE REPAIR MAN CHECKED IT OUT AND TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW PART. HE CHECKED HIS TRUCK AND DID NOT HAVE THE PART ON THE TRUCK SO SAID HE THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PART. I WAITED ANOTHER 25 DAYS (I WAS TOLD THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER FROM G.E.), AND ON MAY 29TH THE SERVICE MAN CAME TO FINALLY FIX THE MICROWAVE. OOPS....THAT PART DIDN'T DO IT.....WE NEED ANOTHER NEW PART....ALSO NOT ON THE TRUCK. SURPRISE, SURPRISE! IT IS NOW JUNE 9TH.....12 DAYS SINCE THE LAST SERVICE VISIT, AND MY MICROWAVE IS STILL BROKEN. I CALLED THE REPAIR CENTER A WEEK AGO ( I CALLED MANY OTHER TIMES TOO AND EVEN SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, HOLLY, AT ONE POINT) AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF THE PART AND TO PLEASE CALL ME BACK. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL. I CALLED THE STORE WHERE THE APPLIANCES WERE PURCHASED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THOSE CALLS WERE FOLLOWED WITH A CALL FROM THE SERVICE CENTER, SIMPLY REASSURING ME THAT THEY WERE ON TOP OF IT ALL! IT HAS BEEN 7 WKS SINCE MY FIRST CALL AND MY MICROWAVE IS STILL BROKEN. I WOULD NEVER EVER, EVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING AT BRAY & SCARF AGAIN AND WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A SERVICE CONTRACT. WORTHLESS!
Description of Work: WE BOUGHT A GENERAL ELECTRIC CAFE REFRIGERATOR, ADVANTIUM OVEN /MICROWAVE, AND DOUBLE OVEN/COOKTOP FROM THE YORK RD., COCKEYSVILLE, BRAY & SCARFF 18 MONTHS AGO. IN ADDITION TO THE APPLIANCE COST, WE PAID $1,129.97 FOR A 5 YR SERVICE CONTRACT. OUR MICROWAVE/OVEN WENT OUT 7 WKS AGO AND IT STILL IS NOT FIXED!

This review is prompted solely by the quality of the merchandise, a Whirlpool refrigerator ($900) and GE washer and dryer ($630 each) which we purchased new in December 2010. Both the dryer and refrigerator failed in March 2014, after a little over 3 years in service. For the dryer it was a belt (the repairman said it is unusual for these to fail): bill = $300. For the fridge, it was a defrost control board (again an unusual occurrence, he said): bill = $450. We are now waiting for the washer to fail, and regretting our entire purchase. The one thing we are glad about, is that we did not purchase a 3-year warranty. In the past, it was common to get 30 years of service from a major appliance. Is 3 years the new standard? By the way, we did contact Bray and Scharff to ask about coming to repair the fridge, but they could not or would not quote us their hourly rate so that we could compare with others. We used another company.
Description of Work: Sold us a new washer, dryer and refrigerator, and delivered them to our house.

The entire experience was wonderful. I worked directly with the manager of the store. I was most interested in high quality one on one service which would give me an idea on the type of company they will be to deal with for future washer service. The manager was great. He went right to a website that provides all big box companies prices and offered me the lowest price he could find $800 for the washer I selected. The other piece I like was that I contact him direclty when I want to schedule any service for my washer. Lastly, the service plan that I paid for is fully refunded if I never use any service over the life of the plan. Lastly, he provided me all the necessary paperwork for 2 rebates that were being offered. I will go back for all future appliance needs.
Description of Work: I purchased a new Whirlpool Duet washer w/ Steam. I also paid for home delivery and the extended warranty. They delivered the washer to my older home through a very small throughway under my back porch without a scratch on the washer.
