Delivery of machine went well until it was time to plug in. Contractors took a look at the electrical plug and said that they could not finish installation. Apparently the Bosch washing machine is designed to plug into a Bosch dryer. I do not have a Bosch dryer. I now have to hire an electrician to finish the installation. I am disappointed on 2 counts. First, the salesman told me that the washer was 120 volts (it is 240 volts). Secondly, he never told me that it comes with an European 3-prong plug.

I would never buy another item from Bray and Scarff. They do not stand behind their products. They do not try to accommodate your needs or point you in the right direction for help. I went back and forth with the salesman, the customer service department, the warrantee company for 3 weeks. Finally, I had to buy a new dryer from Landers, a company I know will stand behind their products. I was appalled by the lack of concern Bray and Scarff has for their customers. It is a shame.
Description of Work: I purchased a Bosch washer and dryer 4years ago. While my dryer was still under warranty, the door shattered. I contacted B&S and they put me through to the warranty department. That department informed me that Heavenly Cool would be doing the repair. I read reviews for HC and decided that I did not want a poorly run, unprofessional company to repair my dryer. I asked B&S to send their own repairman, to which they responded that I had to use the one specified by the warrantee company. I offered to pay for the repair so that I could guarantee that a proper job would be done. They refused. At the customer service level. At the store level. They did not want to cooperate in any way with me.

We called B&S on 1/11 when the freezer stopped working. Their service man can only come on Wednesdays, so every time they screwed up, it would take another week. The first time someone came he said we needed a compressor and he would have to order one. Then the next guy came and said we didn't need a compressor, and then he did something to fix it, only it wasn't fixed. So he came back a week later and said we needed a compressor. They ordered it. Then another week went by. On 2/11 he came out and installed the compressor which fixed the problem. That was a month after we first called. I went with B&S because they had the best price on this. Good sale but bad service.
Description of Work: Warranty work done on our Amana refrigerator (which by the way was rated highly in Consumer Reports). After purchasing this unit new from Bray and Scarff, the freezer stopped freezing after a few months. The freezer was about the temperature of the refrigerator section.

Any time your appliances break, if you have two months to wait. Bray and Scarff is the place for you. Last summer I got a brand new kitchen and I bought all my appliances from B&S. I wanted either Wolf or Viking appliances, they are a major distributor so I went with them. The sales guy also sold me a floor model new washer/dryer at the time. I spent well over $20,000 and bought the warranty. Less than a year later the washer dies. When you call in to the service center expect to wait 4-5 business days to get someone. Once they come they order the part, their line is it takes 3-5 business days for the parts to come in. My experience has been about 2 weeks. then you wait another couple of days for the part to be replaced. After waiting over three weeks, I was told it still isn't working, wrong diagnosis of the problem... After a week I'm told the color I bought has been discontinued and the front plate I need in that color is not available. So they have found another washer that they will replace. Delivery is scheduled for a week later and guess what???? The truck pulls up but the washer was mistakenly not loaded! All in all it took me 7 weeks to get a working dishwasher. I went all the way up management to complain and was given apologies and promised as a token of my appreciation, the manager Robert wanted to mail me some steaks. The never came, I didn't really care. With a family of 6 just needed a working washing machine. B & S clearly stands for something else BS. So fast forward 6 months and my Viking dishwasher power button stops working... 5 days to get someone out here. He tells me the button is broken and needs to order a new one.... 5 days later the piece shows up.... 4 days later he comes and guess what?? He too misdiagnosed the problem, just like my washing machine! Order new part.... been 2 weeks, just got off the phone with the parts supervisor who told me the part will come in 5 more days. Just so you are clear, the part was ordered on December 21st, expected to arrive on January 8th. Normal?? for BS, yes. With this second ordeal I left 4 messages for the parts department supervisor Holly to call me back. Today she told me she never got any messages? Huh? Then why did Crystal tell me yesterday she doesn't know why I haven't gotten a call back??? Just as a side note, I call them regularly, I never ever get update or notification calls from them. Who has time for this?? I never ever write reviews. But when you spend lots of money on a your appliances and buy the warranty, you expect service. In today's busy lifestyle. Going two months without a dishwasher or washing machine is simply unacceptable. Save your money and your time. Go to Home Depot. BS, the Service Department, Robert, Holly, they all give lip service but are running a very horrible company. The appliances look nice, but the buck stops there. Run if you can, I've convinced three of my friends not to buy from there. Not that I care about B&S, but I care about my friends and want them to learn from my mistake.

I visited many appliance stores and received pushy sales pitches, information that I did not want, rudeness, and overall poor service. None of the sales people listened to what I wanted but tried to push their different appliances on me even though they knew I was prepared to purchase four large appliances from them. A friend recommended Bray and Scarff to me. When I visited the Rockville store, I met a salesperson named Geary. He was terrific from the start -- he listened attentively, remembered what I said, showed me appliances that met the criteria I laid out, explained how they worked to me, and cheerfully, professionally, patiently and attentively answered all my questions. He worked with me throughout the process, handled all the paperwork for me including multiple forms for rebates, kept me informed on the telephone of delivery dates, installation information, etc. He was just a sensational salesperson and a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher were all installed efficiently and professionally by the Bray and Scarff staff. I will certainly go back to Bray and Scarff and to Geary for additional appliances.
Description of Work: I purchased a refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher and had them installed.

It took 3-4 weeks and multiple calls because of the sales person, though the installation was fine. They also forgot to register the washer for the warranty!

The purchase included an induction cooktop that required recutting of our granite countertops. Every detail and diagram we needed to insure proper cutting and installation was provided. I will definitely purchase from this store again. We love our new appliances thanks to all the time spent with us to purchase the models that suited our needs perfectly.
Description of Work: We visited the Columbia, MD location for the Labor Day Sale. The salesman, David, was extremely knowledgeable and would spend time with us when we had questions but also gave us plenty of time and privacy to discuss our potential purchases alone. It was just the right amount of service. A few follow up phone calls with questions have been promptly returned. Delivery of our new appliances was excellent.

Poorly. The salesman was inept, scheduling an incorrect date for pre-measuring, calling the wrong telephone number, not providing necessary information for the measurements, shipping the wrong wall oven. The actual installers were very good.

My initial reaction was that they were cordial and seemed professional. They told me to come on a certain day to order my gas top and I would be given a discount. I had searched the internet prior to attending and had the manufacturer's suggested retail price of the appliance I wanted to buy. The model on the floor was priced at $1699. They offered me a $100 discount. I complained that the MSRP was $1499. They made a show of checking this out and ultimately said there was some mistake. They eventually sold it to me for $1399. To do my kitchen layout, they required a non-refundable deposit of $175. I paid this and soon after ran into a stubborn salesperson that did not want to do the layout as I requested. Subsequently, I went to another retailer and got the kitchen I wanted, the way I wanted, for less money than Bray and Scarff had quoted. I took the cook top I purchased from them and plan to have the other company install it.
Description of Work: I hired this firm to remodel a kitchen by replacing countertops, sink, and gas cook top. The new counters were to be quartz or granite.

We were renovating an entire house; first we purchased the new stove at bray (no real reason, same price as everywhere else)- we then picked kraftmaid cabinets that are exclusive to certain dealers, and bray could get them, so we bought them there. We did not have a contractor at that time, so we got an estimate from bray to do the kitchen remodel. BIG MISTAKE. 1. Basically ran up the bill with unnecessary electrical work, damaged floors, walls, etc, drilled HOLES THROUGH CABINETS IN WRONG PLACES (WTF?????) in numerous places during the install, then left without finishing, 4 MONTHS LATER AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT UNFINISHED WORK THEY SENT SOMEONE OUT TO COMPLETE LITTLE THINGS. They do not, as they claim, have experienced remodeling staff, all their work is subbed out to whomever they can get to do it the cheapest, so bray pockets a large sum as the ''general contractor'' without really touching any of it. WOULD NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN AT ALL. Avoid like the plague.
Description of Work: Full kitchen remodel. We had completed demo, all they had to do was the finished install, including electrical, plumbing, cabinet & appliance install.

I called the company about the damage their men did to my ceramic floor & having to pay someone else to finish their job, & was told it would be taken care of. 10 phone calls & 2 trips to the store I finally got my reimbursement on Feb 16, 2006- 3 months after my first call. I would never deal with this company again, I felt like I was just blown off & they would return what they owed me when they were ready. Everyone needs a job but they need to make sure their people know how to at least turn off the electricity & how to talk to others. Leaving a stove in the middle of the floor & leaving a job is not an acceptable way of doing business!!
Description of Work: I never would have bought an appliance so close to a holiday (10 days before Thanksgiving) but my stove went up! This company came out to measure & guarantee that installation was no problem, since 25 people were already coming for dinner! Everything was set to go for delivery, the day before the holiday. The 2 men arrived about noon to start putting the stove in, first they didn't speak English, then they didn't know how to turn off the main electricity! I turned it off, they started & didn't know how to slide in the stove, said it wouldn't fit. They dropped it & cracked my ceramic tile floor in several places, said nothing. They tried to re-slide it in & couldn't. Pulled it back out, threw their hands up in the air & in their almost understandable English said we have other jobs to do, left the stove in the middle of the floor & left!! By now it was 4:15. I had to find another company at that late hour & pay them another $130 to come out & install the stove.
