I cannot say enough about how please I am with my investment. Over the years I have painted myself or hired folks on the side who claim to be painters and actually they were not. Quick paint overs..nail pops sticking thru the paint. One coat of paint and then it fades after a year....paint on the floor and so on. So thats what I use to do. I realized that my home is my investment. I wanted my house to be five star living. Well, I was driving one day and saw the Roys Paint truck. I gave them a call and met Ginger on the phone. I love her! She immediately new what my needs were and explained very carefully what needs to be done in order to make my home five stars. Her crew arrived buckets in hand and let the work begin! Jose, Henry, Oscar and more....what an awesome crew. So friendly..but those guys WORKED! SANDING, SCRUBBING, PAINTING, POWER WASHING, and on and on! I love it! The professionalism, paying, attention to detail, Integrity..yes I said it! Integrity...I could trust them with my home. They made recommendations, suggestions and most of all the price was reasonable and competitive. In summary, if you want quality work done on your home..and please remember you pay for what you get....I would highly recommend Roys Paint, Clinton, MD. hands down. Try them....YOU will like them. By the way did I say they painted my whole house inside out! Thank you Roys Paint for a job well done.

Great, fantastic. Just want to get a shout out to Roy's Painting Company, Inc. and to say thank you so much for a job well done. Jimmy and Henry were very professional, hard working and had a great personality. They showed up on time, and finished both the bathroom and bedroom in one day. We were very pleased with this company and definitely will be using them again. Your company, from the start showed us respect and promptly returned any calls we had. We will tell our friends about your company, and pass on to them how professional your painters were. Thank you again for a job well done.

Excellent! The workers were consistently on time and worked very well individually and as a team. They were friendly and worked extremely hard! The quality of their work was outstanding! Ginger, the owner, checked in regularly in person, and was easy to communicate with. The drywall areas are like-new! They blend perfectly with the surrounding areas. The replaced window sill is beautifully and professionally made. The paint work is beautiful and flawless! The price was excellent, as I compared several companies prior to hiring Roy's. I learned of this company through a friend's referral, and I will be passing this recommendation on to others who need painting services.
Description of Work: We purchased a home and needed the entire upstairs, main level, and basement painted. We needed drywall repair in several areas, including skylight areas and the wall area where we removed a pellet stove. We also needed a window sill replaced.

I interviewed several painting companies for the job, who all gave me very high estimates. I was going to hire a handyman with apparently little experience painting when I came upon Roy's name on Angie's List. They arrived on time for both the estimate and the work, charged a fair price, and performed completely professional work. The front of my house looks great. They were extremely easy to work with as well. This includes the team that did the estimate, the team that did the painting, and Ginger on the phone. I will certainly use them again.

Painter arrived in the morning at 10am, Feb. 8, spackled areas, took approx 45 mins. Ask if he would like additional lighting because we had one small window in kitchen and he said yes. Scheduled to return at noon, did not call or return to paint. Did return following morning at 9:30 am, sanded and put coat of paint on ceiling, ask painter why he did not tell me he was using a tectured roller, but he had ceiling halfway completed, he continued to use textured roller, he said it would not be too textured. I did address a couple of areas that did not look like it was well sanded but painter said the paint would cover it well. On job approx. 2 hrs. Did not like that company Rep. Mr. Hile stopped by to rush painter back to office, he was not on job that long. After paint dried, a couple of areas was overlooked in the spackling process and notified company. Company was reluctant to come back out but sent Mr Hile instead of painter to address areas of concern, he said it was lighting that reflect shadows on ceiling, when I was trying to address the actual areas that needed spackling. They were minor areas but would require paint the company used onsite. Mr. Hile felt their company did all they could do and took a stand and refuse to spackle and paint those areas. I insisted that he pay closer attention, but he kept talking about improper lighting reflects shadow that makes it look as if there is a problem, but with hesitation, he will consult with owner. No one called from company to update me on action they might take or owner's remarks. I called one morning, Mr. Hile answered, claim they will send someone out , secretary will call, but they retract that decision and followed up with a letter Feb. 11, stating the lighting was the issue, that a gentleman bystander in my home, commented, in background, on lighting (which was unprofessional to include someone of no interest to this job) and I call the company and ask to speak to owner because of this comment, and secretary tells me no one is around, but I said to secretary, that I hired and paid your company and address my issues to Mr. Hile, rude to include bystander's comment in their letter. Also, in the letter, they spoke of s second coat of paint to provide full coverage and let me know it was free. I was not told they used a second coat and ask what that has to do with providing customer satisfaction, because if a second coat of paint is required to produce a quality outcome why are you addressing word "free" because I paid for what the job required. The secretary had more to say to me than the owner. The company letter was stating, in finality, that improper lighting refraction, free second coat and contract was fulfilled and refuse to come back to fix those areas and provide any form of customer service/satisfaction. Their unprofessionalism in handling the situation requires grading of F. I did followup with a letter, Feb. 18. If this company, in earnest, provided customer satisfaction, I would have considered using a company's service again when they are willing to correct their mistakes. I told them referrals are based on how they provide quality work and customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: Spackled areas of concern, sanded and painted ceiling Estimator, Bill Cummings, very personable. Painter, personable and dilligent, but always rushing to get to another job.

We are sorry if you felt we didn't complete your project to your liking. We did patch, sand and paint the ceiling complete as contracted. We even applied a 2nd coat which the contract didn't call for to keep a happy customer. On day one, we didn't return because our painter thought the area might take longer to dry due to the weather so he decided to return the next day to complete the work. He used a standard 9 inch roller with 1/2 nap on your ceiling, not a textured roller. Any roller or brush will provide some sort of texture. To avoid this you can spray which we don't do in occupied or finished house/units. Mr. Hile is a supervisor of our company who is sent out to review work if there is a complaint. He will decide if we didn't do something correctly or if there isn't a problem. If there is a problem, he will take care of it. There was not a problem, so nothing was done. The painter wasn't needed to return. Mr. Hile told the customer on the phone that he would have the secretary call back because he was unaware of the letter sent a few days before that. In regards to the lighting, you need to have NORMAL LIGHTING in order to determine if there is an issue or not. Customer provided a flood lighting which will show shadows on the ceiling. This is stated on the back of our contracts. A bystanders comments were stated in the dispute with the customer because the bystander agreed that there was nothing wrong with the ceiling. The bystander is believed to be her husband. We don't feel as if this is rude to stated what was said or heard. We are sorry we were unable to satisfy this customer. We feel as if we tried to do everything to make her happy but we can't continue to do work which is unnecessary just to have the same issues. We always try to please the customer but every company has to have guidelines that this is done in. We hope you will continue to read other positive reviews.

Man O Man. I am in so much shock over this company I just had to write an review. It all started on Saturday 8-29-15 when I was waiting on them to come and give me a estimate on my job. I had a appointment for 2 - 3 and no one called or anything. By 3:15 I called the office (which was closed) to leave a message about the appointment. On my leaving for a birthday party I see the estimator in my driveway walking up. I asked him what time was the appointment and did he have my phone number. He did and did not even say sorry for being late. I then showed him the work. He said he would call me back in 30 minutes with a price and can start the job on Monday. After some back and forth we agreed on a price of 900.00 and they would start Monday at 9:00 am. Monday I am waiting at my house until 9:30 am and got a call saying that the painters are now on their way. I explained that I dont know what time they will arrive and that if they can come back tomorrow on time that would be better. They came on Tuesday and after spending 10 minutes at the job refused to do the job for the 900.00 and was told that they are leaving and the office will call to get a better price. I am so offended by this company that I wanted people to know BUYER BEWARE. When a company comes and estimates a job then refused to do it when they get on site and offer another ESTIMATE they are a bad company to deal with.
Description of Work: They did not provide any work. They came over and looked at the job and gave me an estimate. Then they got to the job a day late and refused to do the work at the price we negotiated. The on site painter said I am going to Waldorf and will have the office call you to get a higher price quote for the work that needs to be done. I then had to call the office to get information about how they wanted to have another estimator come out and rebid the job again. I explained that would not be necessary because this would just be a continuous cycle of bids and I need the work completed.

Mr. & Mrs. [removed member name], In response to your review, we didn't do the work because we quoted you for (2) corner beads repairs and (2) holes to be patched and prime the walls and the ceiling. When we arrived on Tuesday morning, Mr. [removed member name] explained to our painters that the entire basement needed to be done, in which our estimate clearly wasn't priced for. We had the estimate typed in detail to show this prior to coming that day. We would have completed the work we were priced to do but you guys wanted everything done for the same price. This is not possible which is why we told you we can't do the work for that price. In regards to starting on Monday, we had to finish another job from Saturday before we started on your job. We did call and left a message about 7:30 to inform you that we will be there but it will be about 9:30 to 10. We called again at 9:30 to let you know we were on our way, in which you told us you were on the way to work. So we asked if you would like the work done another day. We will always finish the job we started before we start a new job. And we always call the customer if we are going to be there a different time then we previously stated. This is the right thing to do. As for the estimate on Saturday, we give you an hour window in which we try to stay true to. Sometimes the estimator can run into traffic especially on a Saturday. We also call prior to going to an estimate to make sure the estimate is still scheduled. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but honestly your statements are not true. We are a reputable company who had been in busy for almost 45 years. We continue to try to please our customers to the best we possibly can. We hope readers continue to read and understand that we are good for our word. Thank you!

Arrive 30 minutes late. The two men smelled like smoke. Didn't patch, sand or caulk. Told me when they were applying second coat of paint - but must not have - paint underneath is now showing through. Called and waited. Emailed and was told to please be patient. Then they sent a 65 year old man to do what the first two guys didn't do. This gentleman patched and caulked but forgot the white paint. He promised to return but never did. May 13th called again - early - wanted to talk to someone other than the normal receptionist, spoke to Roy himself and was told someone would come out the 14th or 15th. Still waiting. Actually, no longer want them to return.

Good Morning [Member Name Removed]! We did complete the work on April 15th as scheduled. The office staff explained to you that we would get to you but needed to be patience. The painters explained to us that the work was done but a few areas needed to be patched better. We always patch, sand, and caulk on all our contracts. So we are sorry if you feel this work wasn't complete. We did finish our contract as stated. We have always been a reputable company to ensure our customers are satisfied. I called them one evening before they were about to close and they came out the same day. One of the things I like about Roy was that you did not needed to be home because it was exterior work that I need to be done. So what they do is they mailed the estimate out to you. I thought that was neat and the estimate was free. They actually called and told me that the estimate was completed and that it will be mailed to me.

The overall work was good, they were there on time, organized and clean up was done very well. Two coats on every wall would have done the job in the beginning. Also the chest drawer in one of the rooms was move with two people, one person tried to move the chest back against the wall and broke it, I saw it and reported it to the company. Nothing was done about this.
Description of Work: I had 2 accents walls that were paint with 2 coats of paint that turn out well, the single painted walls were ok, but some area were missed and needed touch up, had to call and someone did come out in a timely fashion and touch up the spots.

I called Monday and spoke to Ginger and asked her to send a revised copy of the contract to reflect changes Bill mentioned and received it onTues 10/15. I also asked about whether composite was the same as PVC and she believed so but I could call back and talk to someone. I called and spoke to Pat Tuesday morning and told me PVC was all they used. Work was scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 and I waited until 10:30 or so then called to see what happened because they didn't show up. Ginger said I was on her list to call to say that they were expecting rain and they weren't coming out after all so the work was scheduled to start Thursday. I talked about revising the contract to show that PVC would be used and she said it wasn't necessary but I could write it on my contract and she would send contract with Pat on Thursday and I would sign before work began. Pat and two other gentlemen came on Thursday morning with contract, I signed the revised contract that showed PVC would be used and signed my copy that was mailed to me, (Ginger said this was fine) and work was started. On Friday, Oct 18, three men came back. I met them outside and moved my car and instructed them where to park. I began to ask questions to one of the men that I recognized (Dan). He was cordial and answered questions I had about work that was done so far. I said I wanted to make sure I understood what they were doing, keep the lines of communication open so there were no misunderstandings and one of the other men interrupted and said, "Well, I'm Richard. I'm the foreman here and I know everything that's going on with this job. Where's the ladders?" Later, when he returned with the PVC, he pulled out a piece of PVC and pointed to the sticker and said something to the effect,"See, it's PVC." He also explained that the area above the garage door would be replaced with wood because PVC was not made that thin. I asked, "Why replace just a section instead of the entire piece of wood?" and he replied, "because it's not rotten, it won't rot and the contract states replace the rotten wood." I though it was a reasonable question but it seemed to irritate him. Again, the tone was rude and abrasive. I felt uncomfortable and intimidated asking him questions. He returned on Saturday and I didn't want to have too much interaction with him. I asked about the right side of my home where a section of wood was taken out because I wasn't sure what was going to be replaced and he explained what he was going to do. I had to leave and when I returned he said they'd be back on Monday. I emailed the company on Sunday evening and also left a voicemail message requesting that Richard be replaced. On Monday, he was replaced and Pat came to my house and he and another gentleman resumed work . When Pat said they were finished, I looked over the work and had some questions about it as I was not fully satisfied. Initially, I was told by their estimator, Bill, that I do not pay until I am 100% satisfied. Pat said he would talk to Roy (the owner) about the concerns I had. He called him and then gave me the phone saying Roy wanted to speak to me. Roy said something to the effect, "I'm going to put my foot down and you have two choices; "I could take you to court for not paying and I will come out and pull off all that wood they put up. We've spent enough money on that project." I was stunned because Pat made it seem like we were going to work out an agreement, not be threatened by Roy. I never said I wasn't going to pay. Pat said he would come out on Tuesday, Oct 22 to fix the problem. After much thought, I contacted Angie's List to explain my dilemma. I called Pat on Monday night and asked him to hold off because I wouldn’t be here because I had a meeting to go to. I sent an email letting them know I was in a three day meeting and that I would keep them updated. I sent an email on Tuesday and again on Wednesday. I got an email that said they were scheduled to come on Thursday to complete the contract. They told me they were going to send Richard, the same guy that I had asked to be replaced, out to finish the work. They were going to send him because he was one of their best men for high ladder work and wanted to know if I was fine with Richard returning on Thursday to complete the contract. I responded on Wednesday that I was still in my meeting and would send another update when I got a free moment. I received a call from Pat Thursday morning and another email asking if they could return Friday or Saturday of this week and whether it was okay to send Richard? I responded that I spoke to Pat and was not available this morning (Thursday, 10/24) and would not be available on Friday or Saturday and would be in touch on Friday. Based on my experience and the comments made by Roy, the owner of the company, I don't want to deal with Roy's Painting any longer or let Richard come back to complete the work.
Description of Work: My initial interactions with Roy's Painting were positive. I got an estimate and reviewed contract. I had questions about the contract and the estimator, Bill Cummings came out to look at my home again. I wanted to be sure he saw all the areas where the wood needed to be replaced on my home. He said they would use composite wood because it didn't rot. I asked him if this was the same as PVC and he said Lowes and Home Depot carried it but unsure of what they called it. When I pointed out certain areas on my house, he acknowledged missing them the first time and said that once they got up there, any rotten wood would be replaced at no extra cost to me and wrote it on the contract and said he would have Ginger resend it. He said there was no deposit and I did not pay until I was 100% satisfied. He asked me to sign the contract as this would lock in the time and I could call on Monday give them the 'go ahead' to start work on Tuesday morning.

Response from Roy's Painting Company Inc
In regards to this review….[member name removed] originally call us requesting Bill to return to make adjustments to the contract by removing a few things, and adding a few things to the first estimate. Bill returned with the changes and [member name removed] requested for a new estimate to be typed with the changes. We don’t normally do this if it’s a little thing here and there. We normally cross it out or write it in for any changes….but she wanted a new estimate. We submitted this to her and then we received another called asking about the PVC wood or composite wood. I explain to her that we use this on the regular because the customers prefer this, but I will have Patrick call her back later. We agree to have the work scheduled on Wednesday, October 16th. When Patrick spoke to her later in regards to the PVC wood, she requested to have it on the contract. In the morning, Roy didn’t send the crew on the 16th because he was under the impression that she wanted another new contract based on her previous request. We spoke on the morning of the 16th once our crews have left for their jobs and she was trying to understand why we didn’t come that morning. I explained to her why and told her that it was a misunderstanding but we can be there on Thursday morning. She was fine with that. I also told her to just write PVC wood to be used on the contract before she signed it and gave it to the crew. Everything was fine at this point. We sent a Patrick, Daniel, and Henry on Thursday to begin the work as agreed. On Friday morning, we sent Richard, Daniel, and Smithy to continue with the work at [member name removed]’ house. Patrick was the supervisor on Thursday and Richard was the supervisor on Friday. [member name removed] begins to speak with Daniel because he was the familiar face from Thursday, but Richard jumped in because he was the one responsible for speaking with the customer and running the crew. He wasn’t upset with [member name removed], but Daniel should have directed [member name removed] to him regarding the work. [member name removed] questioned the type of wood and how it was being done because she just wants to make sure. Richard answered her questions quick and directly which is not what [member name removed] was expecting or would have liked. In saying that, we do encourage our supervisors to be more considerate when speaking to customers, but sometimes the supervisors just want to do the work. We have spoken to Richard regarding this matter. We did receive the email and the voice mail in which we did send Patrick to return on Monday to complete the work. We told [member name removed] we were complete at which time she explained she wasn’t happy. She believes we should have replaced the entire strip when the rotten wood was only a portion of the strip. We contracted to do just that. She didn’t ask us to replace the entire strip when we did the estimate. Also, there is one board that is a little thicker than the existing board in which we agreed to return to correct this issue with the correct thickness. Roy spoke with her and got the impression that she really didn’t want to pay. Unfortunately, we have too many customers who wait until the end of the job to express issues that could have been address or handled to avoid these issues. Roy stated that we can come back out there to fix the issues or we can go to court. We don’t have any other options as the contractor. We are sorry if [member name removed] took this as a threat. We are trying to just complete her work to her satisfaction, but the conversation felt as if you weren’t going to be able to satisfy this issue. She told us to return on Wednesday at this point. Apparently, she called Patrick on his cell requesting us to wait a few days until she can work it out with her schedule. We request all calls come through the office to avoid confusion. Patrick didn’t relay the entire message, only not to come on Wednesday. So we tried to contact her via email as well as calls to see what she is expecting us to do. The email I received back stated she was in a meeting all day and tomorrow as well but that she would send me another update later. We thought we would get an email later that day maybe after work. We never received anything so we followed up with another email requesting a return day and time. In the emails we also requested to have Richard return because he is our best high ladder work carpenter. We are trying to give her the best job possible. We asked for her to contact us that day to let us know when can return. We suggested Friday or Saturday. She returned an email saying she spoke with Patrick and she is unable to do Friday or Saturday as well. Then we receive another email to refer to Angie’s List. Sadly…we have not been given a chance to finish this job with [member name removed] but she felt the need to submit this to Angie’s List. We have continued to try to return to do the work, we have tried to make the corrections or changes to the contract as she requested them, we changed the crew because she didn’t like the supervisor responses, and we have tried email and phone messages as well. In return we get a review on Angie’s List. We are truly trying to make you completely satisfied [member name removed]. We need for you to tell us exactly what you need to complete your job, we need the date to do the work, and we need for you to communicate with the office on all issues or questions. We would like to get this work done this week before the weather becomes an issue. Can you please contact the office so we can return to complete your contract? For all other Angie’s List members….we have and will continue to try to satisfy [member name removed]. Unfortunately, we only have so much control in making this happen. Please continue to read our reviews as you will see that we are a good reputable company. Thank you!

Performed an excellent job of painting and installing crown molding in hallway and living room areas. We are very pleased with the outcome. The painters arrived when scheduled and were very courteous. They worked and progressed surprisingly fast. We felt that the price for the work was about right and competitive. Our only concerns were that we had to clean up several paint over-run spots off of window blinds and floor after job was finished. Also, we encountered a few miscommunications regarding future pricing of future projects, which we attributed to dealing with two different spokespersons for the company (both not on the same page). I would recommend this company to others.

We called and had them come out and do the estimate for the work we needed to have done, weeks prior to the start of the job. They gave an estimate for all the things they saw needed to be done on the outside of the house. After we determined what they were to do and what we had all ready planned to do, they started work early the next morning with the new estimate for work confirmed on. Two employee's showed up bright and early around 8am to start power washing the house before any painting could get started. While the house was drying, they went and picked up the paint and supplies needed to do the job. Everything went very smoothly and they finished in the two days they said it would take. I have already given their name to a couple neighbors that are also looking to have work done. I would you them again if needed.
Description of Work: they painted the exterior trim on a single family home and power washed the house.

Working with Roy's was a really good experience. They arrived on time and after touching base with me, they immediately began to lay down tarps to catch any paint spills or chips. Each member of the team knew exactly what they were suppose to do, and quickly dispursed to begin their work. A couple of guys grabbed the long ladders and began scraping, sanding, priming and painting the wood trim along the roof-line. One guy began with the sides of the house and another guy started on the shutters, front & back door, etc. They were very quiet and focused on their work. I did point out one or two small areas that needed special attention and they took cae of it right away. Once the work was completed, the crew leader walked around the house with me to look at the work and to see if I had any concerns. I had none. I would definenetly hire them again. Great job Roy's!

The painters were on time, friendly and professional. The first day they took their time and did everything I asked. The second day was a little rushed after call from boss.
