The estimate was quick. Quicker in that I was given no notice at all. He just showed up. I could live with that, it seems they were go getters. After about a week I still did not receive a call about an appointment or scheduled time to start the repairs. The insurance company had already sent them the check and I had already paid them my deductable. I called them on 6 july to schedule for repairs; I did not receive a date. I was to be called by Jim the operations manager. I called them again on 9 and 10 July and finally received a start date of 13 July @ 8 am. They did not show up at the appointed time. At about 9:30am, I called to find out why no one has called me and there was no crew on site to start repairs. Pattie tried to get in touch with the operation officer and was told he will contact you soon. An hour later and no phone call I called them once more the receptionist finally connected me to Jim their operations coordinator and he told me their crew was tied up on another job and they would be able to still start the job that day and would call me to update me @ 1pm. I never received the call and they never showed up. I lost a days pay for a no show. Sat no show or call. I know they are probably busy from storm damage but the professionalism and customer service is below the service of a broken vending machine.

During estimator's 8/2 visit, I confirmed insurance company"s statement that PDR is an all-in-one contractor which specializes in complete damage restoration (as opposed to a number of other companies which offered roofing-only estimates). Estimator also stated he would provide a written estimate to me via email within a reasonable time (I understood it to be ~ a week). On 8/13, after about 2 weeks with no contact, I called PDR to inquire about their estimate. By this time, I had estimates from three roof-only contractors and had been visited by the insurance company's adjuster. My understanding then (as now) was that I am not to start permanent repairs on any of the damage until the insurance company's settlement is finalized, and that completion of the insurance company's review depends on my submission (among other things), of all related estimates. In other words, the remaining (PDR) estimate could affect timely completion of settlement. During the 8/13 phone call, I did not speak to the estimator himself, but to someone who seemed to be in an administrative function. At the time, I was told that she would look into the status of the estimate but that it could not be provided before Monday, 8/16. By the close of business on that date, I still had not received the PDR estimate, I called back and received essentially the same treatment as on 8/13. I now plan to inform my insurance company that I was unable to get an estimate from PDR and I will have to find another contractor who can handle my interior damage. In the meantime, nothing is being done on the damage itself. In addition, prior to the damage, I was planning non-storm-related home improvements which must now be put on hold until I can get the damage fixed. It is important to note that the only things PDR had going for them in my mind was the fact that they had been mentioned by my insurance company and that they seemed to be an all-in-one (roofing + interior) contractor. It is equally important to note that I could NOT find the following credentials (at least some of which common sense should lead us expect): (1) A MD Home Improvement License; (2) A Better Business Bureau report; (3) A listing in the Consumers' Checkbook (I happen to be a member).
Description of Work: Services Performed: PDR provided an estimator to my home on 8/2 pursuant to a telephone request related to storm damage (including drywall, paneling, carpet and furniture as well as roofing shingles, sheathing and rafters) which occurred on 7/25.
