Great American Landscapes Inc

Great American Landscapes was okay. It was good but it wasn't so good for them because it was pretty long distance. It was within the same metropolitan area but on the other side of Washington D.C. I didn't hear a complain or anything but they had a long travel time. We didn't actually go for it with it at all. We wouldn't have been a good customer for them because we were too far away but they honored their commitment and it was valuable so it worked out fine. The cost was worthwhile.

Never heard from them again

It went quite well. The consultant that they sent out to work with us was very much willing to tailor what he could do to with what our price was.

Did not use company because the landscaping estimate while fair was more than I was able to spend.

Project manager Mike was always on time for all appointments and very responsive. He listened to our needs tentatively and quickly produced a detailed plan with itemized breakdown of costs for the job. The estimate was fair and reasonable for the work that needed to be done. The work was started promptly, executed with great care, and completed on time. The finishing drainage system was both well-constructed and visually beautiful, exceeding our expectations. Mike also provided a final walk-through and answered all of our questions and addressed all of our concerns. Mike and his team are very professional and pleasant to work with. Landscape projects are certainly far outside of our comfort zone, but they have managed to make this process completely stress-free for us. We highly recommend Great American Landscapes Inc.

I am very satisfied. I solicited several bids for this project. The designer (Kurt) was very experienced and had great design ideas. He also listened well and realized that we wanted to focus our spend on the front yard project, instead of the back yard. His price wasn't the cheapest, but I wasn't sure I could trust the results of the other bidders. Great American did a fantastic job on a hardscape in my neighbor's back yard a few years before, so I went with that. The project took a week and a half or so, with a day lost to rain. Their team did a very detailed job on the front -- they did a lot of sawing of bricks to make the curved walk look just right. The grass in the front where they sawed took a beating, no way to avoid that, I figure. But the grass looks fine now, after the sod they added and after the over-seeding I did this fall. There were a couple small things in the backyard their team did that wasn't done quite the way we wanted. Some stepping stones weren't laid in a nice pattern and the wooded stair wasn't quite right. But Kurt came out, saw that, and easily agreed that it would look better to make the changes. It took a few weeks for the his team to free up, but once they did, it didn't take long to finish. We also liked the fact that Kurt gave us some nice planting and landscaping advice about the rest of our yard. It looks great. As the project came close to finishing up, strangers driving by literally stopped their cars to tell us how gorgeous it looked.

He listened to me and gave me a couple of options. He wasn’t pushy and made me think about a couple of things that I hadn't considered before. We have some trees in the back so he suggested that if I get rid of the tree behind, I would have an additional 30 feet which was very significant.

Terribly... We waited 4 months and made 5 phone calls to get the " plan " The plan was lovely but I would never get involved or committ to using their services as who knows how long it would take to complete a job.

It went well...good follow-up for questions

I called the office to to inquire about an estimate for grading the soil in the front and back yards. I had informed him that I have a small deck which is about 1 1/2 feet high. I told him to leave the estimate on the porch however, no estimate was found when I returned home. Apparently the guy came over but did not leave an estimate therefore I called back on another day to inquire if anyone came over to the house. The guy stated that someone came over but decided they did not want the job I think he could have still left an estimate for the work I needed to have performed.

The estimator was excellent and worked within my budget. I think he may have left the company because someone else came for the installation, and my email to the original person went unanswered. The installation took one day and turned out beautifully. I did not give them complete "A's" because the three smaller plants that went in back were dead when they were planted, and no one replied to my email. I probably would have gotten satisfaction if I had called them, but I was buying plants anyway and just replaced them myself.

The representative from the company came out and met with me. She did a rough sketch of my yard, so she could determine what would and wouldn't work on my sloping hill. We discussed various ideas and she provided several plant options. The next day I received an email which included a detail sketch of my yard and list of plants with pictures to choose from in trying to bring curb appeal to my home. Unfortunately, the cost to proceed was over my budget, because of the amount of work needed. However, I would definitely consider using or recommending them for other jobs.

My experience with Great American Landscapes Inc. did not go very well. The handwritten design was the only copy he had, so he told me he would go back to the office and scan that and send that to me in the meantime, so I could discuss it with my wife, to let her know a little bit in advance what his thoughts were. Four weeks passed, I haven't heard anything from him. I hadn't received the handwritten design from him. I called them back. He said they'd been very busy. I asked him if he could scan the handwritten design and send that to me, so I can discuss it. He did scan it and send it to me the next day, but so far, now, we're coming up on seven weeks of not having seen the official or formalized depiction of the landscaping proposal. I am going to email him and just tell him, "Don't bother. I'm going to go with somebody else." We had different interpretations of what the Big Deal was that we purchased. There's no way what this seller did that would deserve a "D". The drawing he presented to us looks like something a child would do. I couldn't even tell what it was supposed to be. I wasn't out there when he talked to my husband, but I've had estimates for landscaping done before. I've had free estimates done with presentations that were much better than this. His whole deal is scam-ish. What he did was not worth $50.00. It wasn't even worth $25.00. It wasn't worth anything, to me. It was pretty bad. I was totally dissatisfied, totally. I think that definitely deserves an "F". Because he did nothing, really, for that $70.00 but come out here and spend maybe 15 minutes. We were very disappointed in what we got for the $70.00. I've never seen anything quite this unprofessional.

Kurt arrived on time and we immediately walked the yard. I gave him some ideas and he also bounced a few off of me. He was very helpful in suggesting ideas and giving a good plan for my new yard. About a week later, Kurt provided a detailed plan with an itemized breakdown of costs for the job. Our personal situation prevented us from going forward with the job, but all contact with Kurt and his crew was positive and I would certainly recommend him in the future for anyone exploring a landscaping plan.

It went well. It was good. They proactively contacted me so I thought that was great but I was out of town for some time. They didn't come out right away but that was due to my scheduling conflicts. There were no extra charges. It was really easy with the scheduling.Their follow through was great.

We are very pleased with Great American Landscapes. Steve and his crew did an awesome job, were professional, and put great care into executing the plan. It turned out even better than expected on the drawing board. Steve showed up at the job and supervised the job. Once we got the initial contract done, Steve was very responsive. Really appreciated his ideas and the extra effort he put into the job. For example, he designed and set up some blue limestones as the base for our trash and recycling cans. Everything they did was neat and when I asked for a little adjustment of the planting spacing, they were more than willing. We are very happy and I would highly recommend this team. They cleaned up everything; showed up on time every day; and were great in communicating. I am even putting in some more plantings as an add-on. The job took 3 days and Steve kept his promise as to the start date. They did an awesome job; my neighbors are already noticing our beautifully landscaped yard. Would not hesitate to use Great American Landscapes again, in fact, i will use them for an annual spring clean.

Never gave the drwan plan. They said if we are not ready to do the $ 10,000 landscape design they suggested, they are not interested in any small jobs because they are busy. I called two times to follow-up and no response still.

The initial appointment went well, with a prompt arrival time, friendly staff member, and a thorough walk around the property. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience stopped. I had to call several weeks later to find out where my design plan was. They did apologize, but the end result was a rushed message back with a haphazard "plan", which did not include any graphical representation of what they intended to do, nor did it solve some of my key requests. In the end I felt like I paid to have an estimate done for something that I didn't want -- and I did not feel that I received what I signed up for. We did not elect to use the company, and are disappointed in the quality of the coupon we purchased. We will not be purchasing any more Angie's List coupons... lesson learned.

The first impression was not too professional. The first question the individual asked me when he showed up was, "Where am I from?" I was completely baffled by the question as I wanted to get right down to talking about the project and he is asking an off the wall question that is not even remotely related to the project. After I showed him that we wanted to have a foot high natural stone wall constructed along the back of our yard, he rhetorically quoted a price of $8,000 dollars without even measuring anything or asking more questions about the materials that could be used and their price points. I got the distinct impression that he was not interested in really giving a quote and, in fact, he asked me if it was worth HIS time to even submit a written bid to us. He then proceeded to talk about his son and the future plans of his son to attend college. Bottom line, I felt that there was a total lack of professionalism in the entire visit and that I wasted time out of my busy day scheduling such an appointment. He did not go into materials, price points for different options and ultimately what we were trying to do. I would even go so far to say he was profiling us to see if we could "afford" such a job and once he thought figured that out, that was the level of effort he would put into the meeting. We have spent several thousand dollars fixing the place including a commercial grade fence that is less than a year old on the property which cost several thousand dollars. Totally unimpressed with Great American Landscapes Inc. based on the estimator they sent out.

I am getting ready to complain to the BBB - If Angie's List is going to offer these promotions, they need to be more sure of the provider. I am a very busy professional and do not have the time to keep following up with them. They told me I would have the plan in a few weeks and I have heard nothing from them.

I decided not to go ahead with the project due to the costs. They were reasonable but more than what I could afford at ths time. In the future I will go back to him to complete this project.

Great American Landscapes was very easy to deal with. They were responsive and punctual and did a beautiful job getting an overgrown weed problem under control.

We worked with Mike on the design and the owner also called to check in with us several times to make sure that we were on the same page with the process. What a great team to work with. Mike was on time for all of our appointments and the crew that executed the work was wonderful. The gardens look so beautiful with a good crisp edge and the plantings and design turned out better than we could have hoped. The crew even cleaned up the driveway and street so that there were no signs that they were ever even there! We would absolutely have them again and appreciate all the hard work they did to make our yard look absolutely beautiful!

All went well and we ended up buying a tree from them.
