It went very very badly. My family and I have used Mr. Addison for many years, so I was especially surprised not only by the sloppiness, lack of professionalism, and what I guess can only be called dishonesty. Mr. Addison promised the work by July 1, then he delayed it for various reasons, but at each point he was supposed to show up and do work, he didn't come, didn't call, didn't answer calls. He had promised a four day turnaround, knew my deadline, he would start, then disappear for days. The work he did was of a very poor quality, and he left a mess it was hard to believe he was okay with - he used one of our engraved towels to wipe up dry wall "mud,", he left blobs of dry wall mud on the new vanity and floor, left trash and big clumps of debris in the sink and on the floors, left an open bottle of 'toilet cleaner' that made a big blue stain on the new carpet. There were paint drippings on our wood floor, and literally every bit of trash he had was just thrown about. it was hard to believe. He had asked me last year if he could paint the exterior of the house - I didn't have the money for it at the time, but he said if I did he would give me a "sweetheart deal on the inside work," and really help him out at a tough time. I agreed. He did the outside, kind of sloppy but I let that go at the time, dealing with a bad injury and other crises at the time. He didn't finish - had promised to paint the shed next house, but didn't. So this time, I asked him to please finish and paint the shed as promised and as he had been paid for. He said he would, but didn't. He kept promising to come back and finish all the inside painting and repairs - and would be so exact as to say "I will be there tomorrow morning at 6," but then no show, no call. After days of this, I finally said, "it has to be now, I can't have you taking other jobs till this is done." He agreed. I went to Home Depot with him to buy all the materials, and gave him a typed list of the tasks. The next day, a Saturday, he called to say he had done the small bathroom floor - this was not what we had arranged, he had told me he was getting a contractor he knew in to do the floors, and I had spoken to the contractor myself just the day before, but then Steve made up a story that contradicted what the tile contractor had told me, and when I got to the house I saw that Steve had put down the squares of tile himself, but in an unprofessional way - there was an old ,rusty 4 inch pipe sticking up from the ground where an old shower had been, and I had asked the contractor to please cut out the pipe so the floor tile could be installed without it sticking up there, unsightly and dangerous. But Steve had laid the tile I bought for the other contractor, left the pipe there, and cut the tile around it! Not at all what I had wanted, or asked for, or arranged with the other contractor. It was bizarre. Nothing was adding up, or making sense. Steve had called to ask for money for the paint, and said it had to be in cash so he could buy it then, and do the painting the next day, starting early - Sunday morning. I was pressed because people were waiting to see the house, so I gambled that at this point, I could trust him to at least get this job done. He was joking and upbeat like he used to be, and I was in a bind, because it was a weekend, I had people coming, and I had no one else. What happened then amazed me. I gave him the money for paint, and some extra for a few other supplies. I couldn't get there the next day, but when I went Monday morning, I discovered that nothing was done, no paint, no Steve, no new work done. My daughter called him, and he said he was on another job. It was a hard thing to realize that he knew he was going on this job and had had no intention of doing the work Sunday morning as promised when he made me leave my Saturday plans to withdraw the money from my bank, and drive it over to him. At this point, it was one broken promise too many. My daughter told him she wasn't going to fight with him, but this was over, and he needed to return the money now. More than a week later, he still hasn't. I waited a week and called again. It was a bit sad, and a bit scary - he offered only an irrational kind of rant about me, my family, things that had nothing to do with taking money for a job you didn't do, or evidently have any intention of doing. I suppose people will read this and think I am an idiot, and I sure do feel that I am, but I was going on 15 years of knowing Mr. Addison, and finding him to be, if not highly skilled, at least an honest guy. I would definitely nor recommend Mr. Addison for any work.
Description of Work: Mr. Addison was hired to do painting, and a long list of minor repairs to get a house ready for rental. This included painting, dry wall, mold treatment, installation of vanities and mirror, doorstops, towel bar, etc.

I originally met Steve 5 1/2 years ago when he was painting at a local jeweler's shop. This is the type of shop that locks it's doors between clients and takes security seriously. They practically gushed about how they adored Steve and loved that they could entrust him alone in their high end store without reservation. Steve is a guy who will not only do a great job with whatever you hire him for, but can be trusted in your home and around your family, which is an asset in a field that can often take more than one day for larger jobs. That said, he works quickly and is priced MORE than fairly. I used to pay my old painter A LOT more. He is also just a loyal, funny, likable guy who will keep you laughing the whole time!
Description of Work: Steve and his son Stevie have done quite a bit of work for me but most recently, he sanded, primed and painted a heavily polished knotty pine paneled family room. He has also painted just about every room in my house over the years as well as a rental house we manage (interior and exterior), shed, my mother's entire house, my mother-in-law's entire house & a large portion of my sister-in-law's house. His son Stevie is also a certified handyman & plumber so he has done some plumbing repairs and carpentry for me as well.

Excellent. Steve is a great painter. And he has you smiling and laughing the whole time, because he is so upbeat and fun. Very respectful, very professional, but he has a good time paitning, and he sees the good in everyone and everything, which is infectious. He also does lots of handyman jobs for me, and paints the interior as well. And he throws in extra little things without charging me. His prices are extremely fair - he will not cheat anyone, ever. ANd if you have a question, or need help hanging a mirror, or those kinds of things, he just does it to help. He has done work on my house, plus two hours that I manage. I have used him a lot, as has my family, some of whom manage real estate properties, so they have used him A LOT. We also use his son, Steve Addiston Jr, with A+ Home Improvement for plumbing, and handyman jobs too. Like father like son. I feel awfully lucky to have found them. I used to regularly get cheated by the last plumbers, handymen that we used. Steve and Steve Jr. do not cheat. In fact, sometimes I wonder if they have charged me anough!
Description of Work: Painted whole house and garage.
