Description of Work: Left a radon kit and picked it up 3 days later. Produced a report. I found another provider who did this much cheaper.

Response from Affiliated Inspectors
Thank you for purchasing our Angie’s List Big Deal offer, and for your review. We appreciate the top ratings you gave us. The pre-priced radon testing that you purchased provided testing by our trained and NRSB-certified measurement specialist/lab. We didn’t use a "radon kit;” we placed 2 calibrated test instruments that are EPA’s devices of choice, and followed very specific test protocols, all to assure accurate test results not skewed either false low or false high. I hope this further explains our service, but please call us if you have any questions.

Larry was fantastic. We were purchasing a house in a city 500 miles away and could not attend the home inspection ourselves, so we had to rely on Larry, a family member, and our real estate agent. Our family member reported that even though it was a last-minute scheduling on a Sunday morning, Larry was extremely thorough and took time to explain everything in detail. He caught several serious issues that a previous home inspector (in a report provided to the buyers from a previous offer that fell through) had missed, including problems with the furnace, foundation, electrical panel, and chimney. He also identified minor issues that we would need to address as normal home maintenance. He was available by phone at several points during the negotiation with the sellers and provided helpful, realistic advice on what we would be walking into if we moved forward with the house. Additionally, he came out with us to walk through the house prior to closing (price listed above includes both the initial inspection and his hourly charge for walk-through--very reasonable!) to review the issues, assess the work done by the homeowners, and answer any questions first-hand since we had not been present for the inspection. We've now owned the house for almost three months and have had contractors we selected from Angie's list in to look at everything not fixed prior to closing. So far even though we weren't using people he recommended Larry has been right on the nose both in approach and pricing for every issue he identified. This is an older home and I feel like something new is breaking every day, but every single thing is something he identified as an issue, so we have a nice guide of what to expect next and had already budgeted for fixing them all. I shudder to think how this would be going if we had operated off of the other report made on this house since that inspector missed critical items.
Description of Work: Performed Home Inspection. Provided detailed report. Came on-site again for pre-closing walk-through.

The home inspection went OK. It's after I moved in that's problematic. First on the positive side the inspector identified a defective gas water heater that had to be replaced. There was a cracked concrete patio at the basement level. I asked the inspector if that was a problem. He said no. I am in the process now of getting estimates. A costly "no." The cracked patio is slanted toward the house and letting water in. He did not detect mold in the utility room. He identified some electrical work that needed to be done and gave an estimate of $1000. I received a sellers credit. Two estimates of the work are approx $2,500.
Description of Work: Conducted a home inspection for a home I wished to purchase.
