Baseboard heater in the living room did not reliably turn on when wall thermostat was turned on. Sometimes heater would heat, other times it would not. On a cold rainy day, the room would be very cold. If thermostat was turned up to a high level, say 80 degrees, no heat would happen. then sometimes heater would spontaneously come on.. Room was always very cold. Serviceman from Bridgetown came. Said it was either the thermostat or the heater. he showed that heater worked, , replaced the thermostat. Bill was $225. I paid it. Continued to have the very same problem. Phoned office, explained that it did not work properly. They explained how thermostat works, but finally sent a serviceman out. He came checked heater. Showed me that it was heating. I explained that I knew it could heat, but that it did not seem to respond to input from the thermostat. He did not seem to hear me. I asked if there could be a problem in the heater, a wiring problem or a loose connection that made it not respond reliably to the thermostat. He said no, it is either on or off. He said he had "proved" that the heater worked and the thermostat worked. No problem. I received an additional bill for $100 for his visit. I phoned, spoke to owner. He said they had come twice, found no problem. He said I could either "live with it" or replace the heater ($400 to $800) depending on the wattage. I expressed concern that I had spent a lot of money already which I could not afford and I was still sitting in a cold room. I expressed surprise that they had charged me $100 to come address the unfixed problem again. He said, ""My men do not work for free". I said I was reluctant to pay the additional $100. He said, "You pay the $100 or I will place a lien on your property" He then hung up on me.So I have paid $325, have not had my problem fixed, still sit in a cold room. I am elderly, need heat. I have not been treated well and the owner of the company seems to have no concern that his company has taken my money and not diagnosed or fixed my problem.
