Discovered that the problem identified by an installer was really not a problem and easily remedied the situation without taking advantage of the chance to replace components that were just fine. I have used this company a few times over the past 15 years and have never felt overcharged or taken advantage of.

Description of Work: On Sunday, Feb. 8 kitchen faucet was leaking. Called John E. Ruth Co. & left a message. We purchased a new faucet Sunday afternoon. The company was at the front door at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9. Plumber removed the old & put in the new faucet in just under an hour. He was polite, courteous, efficient, no muss, no fuss. Excellent service. Job well done. Could not have asked for more. Love the new faucet.

Description of Work: Jim Arnold came to our house to quote our project. I called him for his quote after the date he said I would have it. He said he had not gotten to it, but he would have it to me the following Monday. Its Tuesday and no quote.

Description of Work: Fixed a faucet and unclogged a toilet

Description of Work: Water leaked from the ceiling in my breakfast area. I hired John E. Ruth to identify the source of the problem, and to correct. The water was coming from the shower in the master bathroom and from the toilet. Both had not been installed correctly (house was only 4 years old). Water was leaking from the shower (slow leak) because the drain system did not have a liner, and the toilet was not connected properly (water was leaking from toilet flange). John E. Ruth installed a new vinyl shower membrane w/ a new PVC shower drain system w/adjustable drain; removed and rebuilt the ceramic tile shower seat, threshold, and shower wall, up to plywood; built a concrete mortar bed pre-slope on subfloor; replaced tiles surrounding toilet and replaced baseboard. Dismantled and reinstalled shower door and multiple shower accessories, replacing 2. Replaced the toilet flange, repaired and painted molding, repaired ceiling area in breakfast nook; reinstalled ceiling items, light fixtures, speaker's, etc.; sanded, spackled, painted all area's. Cleaned all area's of debris and sand. This job took about a week to complete. Two other companies provided estimates lower than John E. Ruth, however, I was not confident that the other companies understood the problem, and that they would be able to identify the real source for the leaks. I felt comfortable with this company because I used their services in 2008 to remove a walk in bath tub that was leaking (yes, installed by the same lousy builder, that's why I'm a Angie's List member) with awesome results.

Description of Work: We had an existing electric water heater. It began a slow leak before the memorial day weekend. I called them the Monday before the holiday and wanted a tankless gas water heater installed. They were able to install it before the holiday and it has been wonderful. They were very professional and easy to deal with.

Description of Work: Called them to install a new toilet, but ended up having them clean my main sewer line which had backed up that morning. It took 3 hours to clear the line due to very heavy root penetration on county's side of line...also their machine got stuck in the heavy root growth. So I ended up paying for what the county was actually responsible for. Also, they fixed my toilet - but had to come back a second time to finish what I believe they should have done the first time. Plus, I had to pay for the second visit, although a discounted rate.

Description of Work: Replaced a broken toilet. The toilet tank had cracked, but the old 3.2G toilets are no longer sold in the U.S., so we had to replace the whole unit. They offerred a cheaper toilet than the one we got, but I wanted one that had been reviewed on the Internet. When I told them which toilet I wanted, they came back with a price that was better than what I could get on the Internet. They had a plumber show up the next day to install the new toilet and remove the old one.
