My husband and I recently purchased our home and during our first winter here, the heater malfunctioned. It happened to be a winter of record low temperatures and record high snowfall here in the Baltimore area. Only cold air came out of our vents and our house was at a steady 36 degrees. After 2 visits from a repairman that our home warranty company first sent out, our heat reached 67 degrees when it was above freezing temperature outside but would not go over 50 when temperatures were below freezing. We figured it would be best to have the repairman double check that nothing else was wrong. Since he was not available again until 2 weeks later, our warranty company sent out contractors from this company (National Home Pro). The new repairman said there was a problem with our air handler. Before they would come do the work, we were required to pay $500 via credit card in addition to the $75 deductible (the home warranty covered the replacement of the unit itself, not these additional fees) for "proper disposal of fluids & ductwork". It took National Home Pro about a week to come install the new unit inside. **After the work was completed and the guys left, I saw absolutely NO change to any ductwork connected to or around the new air handler unit. We NEVER received an invoice/receipt listing the specific work that was completed that day. I called the company to let them know this and I was assured I would receive an emailed receipt right away. She even confirmed my email address. But, I never got anything. After they replaced everything inside unit, the installers realized we were still not getting any heat. Then, we were told they would have to replace the outdoor unit as well. Weeks went by while they were waiting for the ordered unit to arrive. It is a standard unit that can be found at any local retailer. Meanwhile, our heater ran non-stop but would not go over 45 degrees. We were freezing and slept next to our heat lamps, but we didn't switch off the heater completely, for fear of pipes freezing/bursting. We called National Home Pro many times-- never once did they call us to provide status updates. Finally, when all the parts were in and the repairmen were supposed to install the new outdoor unit, they called last minute to say the repairmen were not able to come in to work because of snow. We rescheduled for the following Monday between 8a-noon. I adjusted plans and waited at home all morning. They showed up at 3pm. Apparently they were in a "meeting at the office". When I asked the main repairman about how the system works so I could try to prevent future problems, the repairman became irritated and basically used a bunch of HVAC-specific terminology that I did not understand. He said just like a car could break down as soon as you drive it out of the parking lot, the HVAC system could malfunction as soon as he drives away. The repairman basically said I should be grateful because we would have paid $10,000 retail for all the work they?ve done. When I checked with my home warranty company, they told me everything would have cost us around $4000. When the work was completed, I looked outside, I noticed the unit was just sitting on the mulch. I asked why this was so, because our previous unit was on risers. He said it was just "a preference thing" and that I would have had to pay more for those services. He then added that we should have been charged for removing the old unit and some other things I didn?t understand, but that he was just doing it free of charge to "help us out". Now, after installing a brand new unit inside AND out, the guy still could not get the heater to work unless it was running on "emergency heat". The guy said it might just be taking a long time because our system had been down for so long. He left and said it should be fine. But, it was not fine. I called again several days later and told them I needed to speak with the manager. The "assistant manager" told me she would have the manager call me back the next day. He never called me. I was tired of dealing with their run around so I just got another company to come fix everything. This new company corrected the mistakes the guys from National Home Pro had made in setting up our new air handler and then correctly diagnosed and fixed our heating problem. Our new guy wore a name tag, covered his shoes when walking through our house, and was very professional. By the way, the guys from National Home Pro had no clothes/name tags indicating who they worked for and completely ignored our telling them that we do not wear shoes in our home. In fact, I kept hearing his wet work boots squeaking against our hard wood floors as he walked in and out of our home. I'm just so relieved our problem is finally fixed and I never have to deal with this company again.
Description of Work: They replaced our heating system, both the indoor air handler & outdoor condenser unit.

I am writting this review on behalf of my neighbor. She does not have a computer and I know she does not want anyone else getting scammed. It all started when my neighbor had a flood in her basement due to the hot water heater bursting. Home Pro was sent out by her insurance company. They did the estimate and it was then sent to the insurance company. They approved the repairs and the work was started. It was estimated to be completed in a month. To this day, it has not been finished. They stripped the basement to the bare bones. Shortly after that, my neighbor was told that a french drain would be more benificial to help drain any water that might flood in the future. She never signed any papers but she, upon the foreman's direction, agreed with him. They started that work. However, that is where it ends. They never came back to fix the problem, they took her paperwork "to make copies for her" but never gave them back. We are now in the process of trying to get those copies to help her get the job done. They received at least one payment of over $2600.00 from the insurance company based on the first estimate. They then submitted a second contract to the insurance company for the additional work that was an additional $12,000.00 from the first estimate. The second contract was dated Nov 2013, 3 months after the projected estimation of the original repairs from the initial contract! My neighbor is elderly and one of the sweetest people I know. I am not going to let her get railroaded, or anyone else. Keep in mind, this company has at least 2 names: National Home Pro and 410 Home Pro. They have 2 addresses, 2 phone numbers and the BBB has this company flagged. They will no longer respond to complaints by consumers. Be warned. From everything that I have heard and so far seen from the paperwork and the reviews from the BBB, I would not trust this company. And I don't think they care. They just want your money.

National Home Pro was contacted by our home warranty service (HMS) to determine the reason for a high water bill. The originally told us us they'd be there between 9 and 1 but didn't end up showing up until 1:30 or so. Once here, the plumber was very nice and systematically ran through the house, finally determining that the main line between the water meter and the house had a crack and was leaking water into our yard (now our super-green grass in that area makes sense...). This is where things go a little sketchy. The plumber quoted us $4500 to fit 60 feet of 3/4 inch copper pipe, but after conferring with the office via phone, said that the price would go up to $6500 if we didn't sign before the end of the day. I'm usually pretty weary of 'you must sign now' sorts of deals, especially when he gave us only a few hours to get other estimates, so I called a few other places to price out what it would cost. Three other estimates came in between $2500 and $3500 (one plumber I called had done work for us before and knew the house and the yard, which meant he was able to give us a knowledgeable estimate right on the dot). No wonder he only gave us until the end of the day to sign a contract with them--they were trying to fleece me!! Once we did get some other plumbing companies out to give us an estimate, they pointed out small things that the plumber from National Home Pro never noticed--how we needed to call the city to get a copper pigtail installed before a plumber could start work, that a call to Miss Utility would need to be made and that they would be out to paint our yard. Neither of these things were mentioned by National Home Pro. This made me question not only the professionalism, but also how knowledgeable the plumber had been. It's not a company I'll be calling again.
Description of Work: Determined the reason for a high water bill (cracked water line to house) and gave an estimate to repair it.

It was very good. They were on time and did the job at the price they quoted me. They were nice people to deal with.
Description of Work: They installed a generator transfer switch. They also did the same work for my neighbor.
