John said he'd fix my slate roof. I counted on him. This photo is what I ended up with. He said he'd come fix our small leak while we were on vacation, and we'd come home to a fixed roof. I called him when we got home, to confirm that everything went well. He didn't answer. He didn't answer any calls, emails or texts. Since it had stopped raining, I didn't know if I should contact another roofer, or if the repair had been completed!! After 3 weeks, I gave up on John and started calling other roofers, but it was too late. The rain came back, making the leak worse, and this happened. Water poured down the wall in my 5-year-old's bedroom, cascading to the floor! The photo doesn't even do it justice. (After all, during the worst of it, I was catching water, not taking photos.) Do not depend on John! Do not believe him. Do not count on him.

So he said he would call to set up the estimate, but never did. And instead of losing a repair job, he lost a whole roof replacement. Sad thing is, we are repeat customers. Not anymore...
Description of Work: We contacted Mr. Pomeroy for roof repairs on a roof that he had replaced for us previously. Although he said he would contact us the next day and come out to look at the roof, WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM. We called him again, left a message and NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM.

Mr. Pomeroy came across as a 'straight-shooting' profession during early phases of the project. This professionalism quickly subsided once payments were made and stopped once he received the final check. Specifically, problems occurred as a result of his personnel's uncaring attitude towards my proper (workers, who had access to my garage, used my tools without asking and damaged my property by using a nailgun to keep open a fence door). When I notified Mr. Pomeroy of this, he was sympathetic, but did nothing more than shrug his shoulders. Much more important, however, a gutter on my house was improperly hung, such that it did not drain and overflowed after even minor rains. I notified Mr. Pomeroy of this problem and he agreed that this was his problem, and that he would have his men come over and fix it. (This was in mid-Summer 2015.) No one ever showed, and after several weeks, I again contacted Mr. Pomeroy who again said someone would be over to repair the improperly installed gutter. Again, no one showed up, and much more significantly, all subsequent attempts to contact Mr. Pomeroy on this matter went unanswered. I ended up contracting another firm to repair the gutter, at substantial cost to me, which is now properly draining. A second problem developed in the spring of 2016, when on the Atlantic Shutters (which have ten year warranties) developed a chip. As this shutter was under an eve on the second story where the elements don't affect it, I concluded the chip was a manufacturing defect, and again contacted Mr. Pomeroy. Again, Mr. Pomeroy was quite attentive and said that he would take care of the problem. This was four weeks ago, and (perhaps not surprisingly) I have been unable to get a response from Mr. Pomeroy despite three or four emails requesting an update. To conclude, Mr. Pomeroy does okay work; not excellent, okay, but my experiences suggest that once he cashes your final check, you're on your own. I cannot recommend his service for this reason.
Description of Work: In late winter-early spring 2015, I contracted John Pomeroy (aka Pomeroy Construction) to install new Hardy Plank fibercrete siding and new Atlantic Classic Faux Lourve shutters on my house. This job included removal of existing vinyl siding, fiberglass shutters,, facia, soffets, and cedar plank siding that was covered by the vinyl siding. Moisture barrier and sheet insulation was installed under the Hardy Plank to improve insulation and reduce energy costs.

I had two leaks in my 22 year old roof. John inspected the roof from the outside and inside. He said it could be repaired and that I would probably be able to get another couple of years out of the current roof, however he recommended a new roof because much of the granules on the roof shingles were gone. He provided a price for a new roof but there was no pressure which I appreciated. John was knowledgeable and had replaced a number of roofs in my neighborhood. He had samples of different roof colors but suggested I look at some homes in my neighborhood which he had recently completed roofs for. He told me which ones had specific colors. It was incredibly helpful to see the different roof colors on similar homes. I decided to replace the roof and hired John to do it. I knew his price was very reasonable because I had already estimated the cost from my own research. John and his crew showed up promptly on the scheduled day. Everything went well, clean up was perfect, I am very pleased and have recommended John to friends.

We had 2 other quotes from very good companies and Pomeroy was our third. We chose Pomeroy, because not only did he give us the best price, he agreed to do all of the and quot;extrasand quot; we asked for with the other 2 (extra flashing, quality vents, architectural shingles, etc). Another very important factor for us was that he was the person who would be there during installation doing the work along with his team. We've had some not-so-great experiences in the past with sub-contractors for other jobs, that I will not go into detail at this time. Suffice it to say, what was promised, was not delivered. With Pomeroy, they delivered exactly what they promised, in the amount of time they quoted, with quality work and great clean up. I would definately recommend them to my friends and family.
Description of Work: John and his team replaced our roof. It was almost 20 years old and the original. We have 4 leaks that we patched to no avail for the past 2-3 years. We also had a major drainage issue over the garage.

John was a little difficult to get hold of on the phone, but arrived on the scheduled date with two workers. John seemed to be in a hurry and did not do the work himself, nor did he supervise his painters. The crew finished the job and cleaned up after themselves, and we waited for the next rain to determine if the leak had been fixed. After one heavy rain, it appeared that the leak was repaired, but after another heavy rain, water was again found leaking in the bathroom. We have called John three times now and left messages informing him that we may still have a leak, and he has not returned any of our calls. John also acts as a handyman for our property manager, and was asked to do two repairs that were to be billed to the former occupants who had rented our house. He was asked to install a broken door jamb, which he took no time to install properly - simply glued it straight to the floor. He was also asked to remove a door jamb and repair the resulting nail holes, but he only pulled the wood and left the rest of the job unfinished.
Description of Work: John was asked to examine our tar roof for the source of a leak and provide an estimate for repairing the leak and painting the roof surface with silver reflective paint.

John Pomeroy gave us an estimate quickly and scheduled the work within a few weeks. He has worked for us and several neighbors in the past. We have been very pleased with the quality of his work, the friendliness and professionalism of his employees. He personally oversees the work. They were prompt, courteous and did an excellent job in replacing the roof. They protected the deck and hot tub and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of the job. Our experience with their previous work has been similar; nothing has ever gone wrong.
Description of Work: We needed the roof replaced on our 100 year-old home and garage.
