 + 1 moreWhen it was all finished the kitchen look great. The work was done to satisfaction, within a reasonable time frame, and at a reasonable price. The house has a much more open feel.
Description of Work: Kitchen renovation from stud including removing a structural wall supports and setting a beam in a 110 year old Victorian farmhouse with balloon framing. Many contractors wouldn't even call me back or give me a quote once they realized that I was asking for structural work on such an old balloon framed home. I purchased the materials (cabinets, appliances, tile, fixtures) and performed the demo before having Doug and his crew start. Doug did provided me with advice for completing the demo myself. He was also not responsible for painting or the counter tops. He had some great ideas to open the space, corrected a structural concerns that he noticed to joists supporting a bathroom above the kitchen.

 + 1 moreIt was fantastic because everyone worked hard, there was no cursing, no smoking on property, they hung up sheets of plastic up to avoid dirt coming into the house. They worked quickly. They made sure I was absolute happy before they left. Friendly and courteous. They didn't take any shortcuts, very thorough work.
Description of Work: Put up white railing on porch, and propped up roof to put in new railing. Remodeling the entire kitchen in my house.

 + 4 moreDoug from Hands-On was great. When I first met him, he mentioned 1. I don't hire vagrants, 2. I'm on your job everyday as opposed to having my crew do the work, 3. I won't start someone else's job while in the middle of yours. He brought this stuff on his own, not knowing my previous contractor was fired for all three of those issues. Honest guy, gave clear details of work and considerations I didn't think of. Did what he agreed to do. Did several additional add-on jobs. Was easy to approach about questions and expectations. No pressure. Ex. While running utilities for my laundry upstairs, Doug noticed a copper pipe that started sweating in the basement. He replace the two foot section and just asked for a couple bucks for it. This was the sort of get it down attention I need. Didn't need to hand-hold, or go to hardware store for
Description of Work: I needed a laundry closet put in upstairs of an old 1940's house. Break open the wall, tap utilities, run pipes & elect. Reroute elect subpanel, run dryer exhaust up to attic and out of house to circumvent chimney that was in our way. In addition, some light remodeling of an old kitchen: move mounted cabinets, replace counter and sink, put in new stove & fridge. Also, repair and patch some minor roof leaks.

 + 1 moreDoug and his crew were friendly, responsive, easy to work with and did an excellent job. Doug has had some recent heath problems and he also had some other problems with the rest of the crew. Our job was supposed to take 5-6 weeks, but took nine to complete. I would be hesitant to use Hands On again until Doug and his guys are all healthy and ready to work.
