Gus and his crew were wonderful. They restored our faith in contractors, which had been sorely tested by our last one whom we worked with for a year after our house was damaged by a tree. Gus saw how we could have a closet in our small bathroom (about 8’x 8’), so we now have that plus some new shelving in our bedroom. We also have some gorgeous wainscoting which was not what I expected but Gus said was in character for the house and he was right. The crew was extremely competent and very easy to have around the house for weeks. Since we live in an old house, circa 1910, there were inevitable surprises, but the crew handled them confidently. We changed our minds about several things as the work progresses such as the tile for the shower recesses and the sink, and Gus was totally fine with the minor delays those swap outs created. We now have a beautiful bathroom!
Description of Work: Our master bathroom needed to be completely redone. Tiles were cracked, and the drainage was extremely poor. Also a slow leak caused damage in the dining room ceiling below.

Gus and his team remodeled our master bathroom and a second bathroom over the course of about 5 weeks. The quality of their work is excellent; both bathrooms look beautiful. Gus built a 72-inch vanity for each bathroom. The renovations also included tiling floors and shower walls for both bathrooms, building a new master bath shower, and installing new faucets, toilets, and fixtures. They also repainted and replaced shelves in several closets. We paid about $30k for the service and an additional $10k for the materials (most of which we bought ourselves, either online or at Home Depot). We didn’t live at the house during the renovation, so it was sometimes hard to know what to expect when various steps would be completed. Another challenge for us was that because this was the first time we’ve done a bathroom remodel (or any remodeling for that matter), we didn’t know the full list of materials that we would be responsible for buying until we needed to get them, so we felt like unexpected costs kept creeping up and we were not able to stay within our original budget. However, Gus helped us make decisions, and overall we felt he had our best interest in mind. We definitely recommend him for the quality, but would suggest asking a lot of questions ahead of time to know what to expect.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodeling (master bathroom and 2nd bathroom)
For years we have lived without an upstairs bath. We wanted to add the much needed full bathroom to our 90+ year old home which involved punching out the attic and surrounding roof and creating a new shell structure. Due to the age of the house it mandated code upgrades to the existing structure. In addition to the bathroom the project involved building new closets on both floors and extensive plumbing and electrical work throughout the entire house. We also wanted upgraded finishes for the exterior and interior of the addition. After several recommended and promising contractors were hesitant or unable to commit to the scope of the project we searched and found Gustavo. After our first meeting with Gus we knew we had the right person for the job. He and his crew went above and beyond the requirements of the job and were always courteous and respectful of our household and daily routines. Working as a team Gus and his men displayed the highest level of professionalism and craftsmanship. He always involved us in all levels of decision making. Gus resolved issues and problems in an artful and creative manner and had a keen eye for the smallest details. They created a new bathroom worthy of a magazine display page and beautiful, functional closets. We are totally happy and satisfied with our new bathroom and other improvements. Gus and his team made the entire construction experience a pleasure. We will use Gus for all future projects, large or small, and highly recommend him to everyone.
Gus completely remodeled my kitchen from drab and early 80’s to sleek, modern and magazine ready. Gus and his team were professional, on time and hardworking. Gus worked with us to make our plans into our dream kitchen. His vision and craftsmanship were hands down the best. My custom made cabinets have everyone in awe when they enter our kitchen. He was available to answer any questions either in person or by phone. He went beyond the kitchen fixing things he saw wrong elsewhere in the house. Walking into my kitchen each day makes me smile. My home feels new and bright and I still can’t believe it’s ours. Thank you Gus for your amazing work.
We can’t say enough wonderful things about Gus and his guys. From start to finish we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Gus and his crew completed renovations on our home that was built in the 1930s and we truly appreciated the extra care that was taken to preserve the character and charm of the house. They completely gutted and renovated our master bathroom, bringing our vision to life. Gus guided us through the entire process helping us decide which products and materials would work/look best. The finished product is even more beautiful than we imagined. Gus custom built our beautiful vanity. The quality and craftsmanship is absolutely stunning. They also completed work in the sitting room off the master bedroom, rebuilding the closets to add additional space. They turned out perfectly. Gus is very responsive, easy to work with and has a great eye for design. His crew is friendly, knowledgeable and hardworking. We had such a great experience we already want them to come back to renovate another bathroom and eventually the kitchen! No one else is touching our house. Gus and his guys are the best and we would highly recommend them!

They did a partial remodel of two bathrooms. Mr. Presti was always responsive to what I wanted and gave me ideas of how I could save money. When I couldn't find the type of bathroom vanity that I wanted, he built one to my specifications. When some fixtures that were not being replaced got scratched, he replaced them and/or fixed them at no charge. The bathrooms got a nice face lift and look great. I intend to hire him again to put a pantry in my kitchen.
When you hire a contractor most people are looking for someone they think will do good work at a fair price. I don't think most people think about the fact that they are inviting the contractor and his crew into their homes and their lives 5 days a week for several weeks. Our basement is gorgeous. The price was fair and Gus, Chris, Tom, Fernando, Louis, and Lou were all a pleasure to work with. I had gotten three similar prices from three contractors who all seemed nice. I was a little more interested in hiring Gus because I thought his experience as a cabinet maker might come in handy. I made the right choice. He has an eye for detail and will do something a second time if it doesn't look visually appealing. He had some good ideas and we went with most of them. We have a support beam that he actually enlarged. There is no way to hide it so he made it look like it belonged there by making it match the style of the shaker cabinets. He also dressed up the side and back of the peninsula by making them look like the shaker cabinets. The project evolved as we went along. Some interior walls came down and Gus suggested that we not replace them. That was a great idea. After the initial demo and waterproofing, it was fun to come home and see what had been done each day. I know Gus looked forward to our reaction and I think the other guys did too. Gus made it clear that he wanted us to be 100% satisfied with everything. That involved making some changes as we went along. Even his crew felt the same way. I was disappointed because I felt the medicine cabinet I had picked was too big for the small bathroom. Chris said that was no problem. They took it down, repaired the wall and hung the mirror I bought to replace it. We needed a new, clean waterproof basement but, I didn't think we were going to spend much time down there. I was wrong. The aqua colored walls and everything else is so bright and gorgeous that we are down there almost every evening.
Description of Work: We had our basement remodeled. Almost everything was redone. We added 39 foot of french drain to the existing one, had it waterproofed, updated electric and plumbing, lighting, new ceiling, flooring, drywall, paint, interior and exterior doors, railing, banisters, full bathroom and there is a full kitchen also. The bathroom is all new-flooring, shower tiles, shower door, sink, mirror... The kitchen is my favorite part. The cabinets have new shaker fronts and have been painted gray. There is all new back splash, counter top, sink, appliances...

The crew arrived on time as promised. They were polite, cleaned up and were gone by 5 each day. Gus told us 4-5 weeks to finish , and they were done closer to 3 weeks. He answered all my emails and phone messages in a timely manner. We have two very small grouting issues that I am sure they will come back and fix.
Description of Work: Tore out two bathrooms, replaced floor, shower, toilet, vanity/sink, mirror/cabinet in one with ceramic tile, new shower door, and replaced, floor, tub, tub surround, mirror/cabinet with ceramic tile, and painted both . Updated electrical/lighting, shower and bath fixtures.

There were a few hiccups along the way because of old pipes in my house that started to leak but Gus worked with us to make sure he stayed on schedule and that we only paid for additional supplies to perform repairs. He even came back over on a Friday night to fix a leaking valve. He was always responsive by phone or text if I had a question or concern and he always took the time to explain all the steps with us and why something might be taking longer or why something would cost extra to do. I bought a sink faucet that didn't work and he did not charge me come back after the job was done to replace it with a new one.

Gus did a great job at communicating the work that needed to be done, he came to visit our house for the estimate and did a great job walking us through the work that would need to be done. He also brought along his trusted electrician, Louis, who we've since hired for other small electrical fixes.
Description of Work: A wide variety of small tasks/improvements that were generated from the home inspection report. These tasks included fixing non-functioning outlets, converting outlets to GFCI, getting attic wiring up to code, connecting the water line to the fridge, inspecting the ejector pump in our basement bathroom, and a few other odd jobs.

Gus gave me information on everything I needed to know that I had trouble figuring out myself online. He explained and provided sketches for all of my questions, ranging from the tub replacement itself to installing new support beams/backerboard for the tiles. His tool recommendations also saved me a lot of trouble and he gave me good design ideas for the tiling. Overall the consultation was extremely helpful and Gus was very professional and friendly throughout.

Working with Gus and his crew was a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend hiring him. From beginning to end Gus was friendly, responsive, willing to answer questions, and easy to work with. Most important, the end product is fantastic. I love the new bathroom and even though it was supposed to be for guests, I use it more than I use my old bathroom. His ideas for the tiling and adding an inset for my shampoo and soap made the shower look first class. I am looking forward to working with him on my next home improvement project in the future.
Description of Work: Gus and his team built a 3/4 bathroom in my basement. This included taking down an old powder room that was already there, rebuilding the drainage pipes in the floor, and building a new bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet.

I needed to remodel my mother's bathroom due to her age and early signs of dementia. After 2 unsuccessful meetings with different contractors, I contacted Gus via Angie's List and right away I felt very comfortable with him. Gus and his crew treated my mother with respect and they were very patient with her. He was always available to answer any question I had throughout the entire process. He wasn't the cheapest contractor but he is definitely worth the extra cost. My mom's bathroom is the best room in the house! Do yourself a favor and contact Gus for any remodeling project. I will use his services again. Thanks Gus

Gus, Tom and Louie showed up when promised, explained their work as it proceeded and responded to my concerns. They were meticulous and touched up areas as needed without being asked. They met me at Lowe's and Home Depot to pick out supplies when it was convenient for me. Gus made suggestions and helped in anyway he could. The work was done with an eye to perfection. They showed they truly cared about doing the job right and making sure I was happy. At the end of the project they came back to install a mirror and a shelve as promised. At that time they noticed an imperfection in the grout in the shower. They brought it to my attention and indicated that they were going to return and correct the area of concern. When I called during the construction with a question or need they always answered the phone or called me back within minutes. I was told that their main concern was to make me happy and they were true to their word. Gus, Tom and Louie were extremely cooperative, helpful, and professional. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone who needed their services. PS: On occasion I was doing some household duties not related to the project and was always asked if there was anything they could do to help.

Mr. Presti had done work for me in the past. He offered suggestions on projects that I could easily do myself. On this particular project Mr. Presti remodeled my bathroom. He replaced the drywall, subfloors, tiles, and repainted. The project took two weeks, which was one week earlier than estimated. Mr. Presti had two helpers that were extremely courteous and professional. I have more work that I need done and I plan to utilize his services again.

We have not yet moved forward with the project but are excited to engage Gus when the time is right.
Description of Work: Gus met with me to review an foyer closet project I've been thinking about starting. He gave me a great idea as to what it would cost and excellent suggestions as to how to lower the price! He seems very reliable and easy to work with. Once I decide on how I'd like to move forward and when, I will certainly us Gus. He's definitely a professional in this field and knows his stuff! The only reason I gave a B for cost is because he is not the cheapest when compared to others in the field. With that being said though, he shouldn't be, as his work is clearly very detailed and top-end. His pricing is very reasonable for the quality of work he puts out.
Gus and his team of Louie, Tom and Louie (electrician) are the nicest contractors who you will ever come across. He was the first contractor that I contacted. He listened to my ideas and gave me suggestions (my primary goal was to demo one of the walls in the bathroom and move it back because there was there was about 3 x 4 ft of dead space between the walls that weren't being used and I hated my 5 x 8 bathroom). He asked if I wanted to tile the tub surround (i had a bathfitters surround), but didn't pressure me into it. He gave my an optional quote and I could decide if I wanted to go with it or not. He told me to get 3 estimates and go with the middle one (he said that if everybody was on the up and up then they should all be close). He was right. He was the first to get me a quote and the first one to contact me with a follow-up and I felt that he was the best balance of experience and giving me a personal experience. It was very obvious that he knew what he was doing and was willing to work with me with my ideas and provided suggestions but never out right refused any of my ideas. He had no problems with me picking out the tile and gave his suggestions or experiences with different tiles and where to go for different sizes of tile in regards to their quality. A few unexpected complications came about after the demo (the air vent behind the wall demoed went up to the next floor at an angle), but he already had an perfect solution in my mind. When he came across something that was not to his liking (the installation for the wall b/w the tub and the exterior) he replaced it with a better solution. As things started progressing, we made amendments to the contract; The original electrical work was shoddily done and I wanted a gfi outlet outside the scope of the original contract (totally expected this), I decided to go with a pattern tile for the shower surround as opposed to the original plan, Replaced the tub drain with pvc and the coolest thing was that during the wall move/demo, a closet was removed. Instead of patching the wall he came to me with a proposal to put shelving in the 5 inch deep space to use for extra storage which is perfect to put all of the bathroom cleaning supplies (and other bottles, packages). The amendments came out to be $1200 (the original quote/contract was for 10,300), which for the amount of extra work was a really reasonable price, and he didn't do anything anything until he got the go ahead from me that i was willing to have the extra work done, and I now have the confidence that things were done right and I have a really cool closet with adjustable shelving. They easily went the extra mile on the little things paying attention to detail to make sure that I was happy. He never got upset when I changed my mind on something and was easy going. Around the same time that this work was happening I had my roof redone. Afterwards, I noticed a few things that didn't look right. I waited home one day for the roof rep to come talk to me about my concerns...and he didn't show...again. Gus and I were having a random conversation and this came up. He offered to go up there and take a look since they would be up on the roof anyways to install the vent for the exhaust fan so that i would have more information to talk to the roof rep. He fixed one of the issues (the aluminum siding on the kickout had been pulled to install flashing and never put back in). And then he told me that the one vent stack and boot was just swaying in the wind and wasn't actually connected to anything...he was furious with the roof contractors work and said that I should have been at least notified that the vent stack wasn't connected to anything. He offered to remedy it. I declined at the time b/c I felt that it was something that the roofers should take of, but he put a cap on the vent stack as a short term solution so that water couldn't fall down and damage my walls until they fixed it...which I am not sure that they will. And both of these issues were confirmed by the roofing company. Gus did this at no charge. I didn't know that Gus did roofs as well, but wished that I had so I would not be going through the headache that I am going through now. I would like to add a note about Louie the electrician as well. He noticed that the light pendant for the stairs joining the kitchen/dining room up to the master bedroom wasn't wired correctly (it was a three way switch) and said that it bothered him and that he would fix it for free and now it works like it should (before I had to turn the upstairs switch in the on position so that the downstairs switch would actually work)! Gus hires people that have the same values as him. He was really concerned with the color palette and came to me with suggestions when he started visualizing the tile. I went with marble pencil liners and corner shelves and he thought that having a marble window sill would look better with everything and he was right. He also helped me pick the color for the walls b/c I had no idea of what I wanted and the color was perfect. He also suggested using a dimmer for the vanity lights and it is awesome. He had to replace the original screws for the shower handle plate, but they were not a standard size and because of that they the new screw heads grind a little when turning the handle. He ordered the screws from the shower manufacturer (Moen) and returned to install them so that the shower handle will be smooth again. They installed all of the fixtures that I went out and bought to upgrade the bathroom (shelving, cabinet, mirror, etc). There are a bunch of little detailed things that they did b/c they wanted to be proud of their work and make sure that I was happy. They made sure that everything was cleaned up before they left. I absolutely love my renovated bathroom now. I've already recommended him to my neighbors and I have some other house projects in my pipeline in the next few months and I can guarantee that if Gus wants the work he will be the contractor that I would go with.

Mr Presti was punctual, professional, and really seemed to know what he was doing. He spent a couple hours going over the house with us and mailed detailed estimates of costs within a few days. I had a very good feeling about him working on the place - if we had bought it we might have gotten a few more quotes before proceeding but I think he would have been a very strong contender for the job. Nice guy, great portfolio, seemed able to manage the craftsmanship and the business side well (I've lived with just he former before, but it's a drag).
Description of Work: Mr Presti came out and offered suggestions and estimates for work that needed to be done on a house I was trying to buy. The owner needed a short sale and we weren't able to close, so we did not have the work done.

Description of Work: Mr. Presti submitted a proposal to have my bathroom totally gutted and remodeled. When I expressed to him that the total amount was over my budget, he showed concern and tried to negotiate the same amount of work as close to my budget as he could. He cut the price down to an awesome amount, but still out of my reach. Mr. Presti is a very kind and generous person who will work with you to get the work done. I will definitely contact him in the future.
