We already had the plans drawn up by then. The project started in July, 2017, and was completed in May, 2017. Our favorite thing about Matthew was that he was very quick to respond to any question/concern we had. He was always easy to reach. We also enjoyed his positive outlook and upbeat attitude when it came to problem solving. His workers, Marcelo the carpenter and Giovanny our project manager who can do almost anything, did an excellent job. When we hit a glitch, with the plumber, for instance, Matthew was very efficient in fixing it. Overall, we would wholeheartedly recommend Matthew Willis and his crew.

The total value of the contract was $99,000. Paul Chretien demanded 38% prior to work starting, although Maryland law states that no more than 30% can be paid as a deposit. After paying this money, Mr. Chretien s team built the second story addition and partially framed out the interior, but not to the architectural specifications. Mr. Chretien demanded the second draw of $35,000 before continuing. After paying this money, Mr. Chretien only added roofing, and installed windows. The windows were not to specification, and neither was the roof shingles. Mr. Chretien demanded another $21,500 before continuing, which would constitute 95% of the total. Mr. Chretien would not answer any of my phone calls or answer any of my e-mails in response to the deficiencies noted. He stopped work and walked off the job site leaving debris and building materials all over my property. I have paid Mr. Chretien $70,000 and he has only performed $45,000 worth of work, at best. Mr. Chretien owes me $25,000. Because of California Builder s inferior workmanship, I do not wish them to finish the job. However, My house is partially complete. The second story is build and none of the supporting structure to carry the load has been installed on the first floor. I continue to inhabit the residence, but feel it is unsafe. In addition, When Mr. Chretien removed the roof, he did not re-vent the gas water heater or gas furnace. I lived in danger of explosion or carbon monoxide poisoning for two months before a HVAC person pointed out the dangerous situation and ran a temporary vent for me. Overall, the entire process has been miserable. Mr. Chretien has been unresponsive, very non-proactive, deceptive, and misleading. His contractors broke the glass in every window they replaced and left the broken glass strewn across my property. His treats me as if I am his walking bank account, with customer service the lowest of priorities.
