It went extremely well. I called on Monday and was scheduled for an appointment on Wednesday between 12-4pm. Jim called when he was on the way. When Jim arrived we explained what we needed to be done and the parts we had. We asked how the rates are calculated and asked for an time estimate to complete the work. He explained the rates and gave us a time estimate. He detailed what he would do and went straight to work. He worked fast and efficiently. He left no mess and cleaned up every area where he worked. He answered all of our quesitons and gave us some tips. Jim did an excellent job. We would recommend them to anyone in need of a plumber. We definitely would use this company again requesting Jim to come out to service our plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Changed two shut off valves for the faucet in the powder room bath as well as replaced the water line hose and shut off valve of faucet in the kitchen. Also installed the water line hose and replaced the shut off valve for a just purchased refridgerator.

Tried to install a new disposal on Wednesday. In the end it was larger than the old one, and the new sink was quite deep, so the drainage connection wouldn't line back up. I called Winegar & Son Wednesday around noon and explained the problem. I chose them because of positive reviews, and also because they were local and I was hoping I could get a quick appointment. They said they could have someone there in the afternoon to take a look. The plumber came within a couple hours, so that was great. Plumber took a look at the problem, unscrewed some things, saw how much room there was (really none) and determined that the new disposal wouldn't fit unless he cut a hole in the back and connected to the drain line in a different spot. He gave me a rough estimate of how much that would cost. He also gave me the option of getting a different / smaller garbage disposal that could probably be connected, though it would still likely be tight. I went with option A, and was able to schedule the work for the next day. The plumber arrived on time again (2 for 2!) and started work. I disappeared for a bit and when he called me back everything was done. Faster than I expected and it looked pretty good. They was a new hole in the wall, but the connection looked cleaner than it was for the old disposal (all crammed in there) and the new disposal was working great. He tested out the water and dishwasher, we both saw no leaks, and that was it. Overall a good experience - a plumber was sent by that day, he was experienced and knowledgeable, and was able to fix the problem pretty quickly.
Description of Work: Old garbage disposal went bad, so I attempted to install a new one. Needed a plumber when I could not complete the job due to the new disposal being larger than the old one and not being able to complete the drainage connection.

They called me back on a Sunday afternoon promptly. I waited until Monday to avoid emergency charges, but they came out in the morning as promised. Loved the plumber who arrived. He took the pipe apart, showed me the stoppage problem (pasta) and then re-fixed the pipe. Very easy and reasonable pricing. I will definitely call this company in the future. Very trustworthy advice too.

Appointment was set up for the day after I called. Owner called to give me an approximate arrival time, and the plumber called later to tell me he would get to me in about 30 minutes. They kept me well informed. Plumber arrived at the scheduled time, and work was completed in a few minutes. I will certainly use them again. This was great service!

We called this company during our recent renovations of our bathroom flooring. We had the old toilet and flange removed and pipes capped in the hall bath during visit one. Our flooring guys installed tile in the hall bath and we called Winegar to come out again. During visit 2, Winegar installed a new flange and toilet (we supplied) in the hall bath and removed the old toilet and flange in the master bath. Our flooring guys then installed tile in the master bath. Winegar came out for visit 3 and installed a new flange and toilet (we supplied) in the master after the tile was laid. In addition, they installed our master vanity and sink as well as replaced the supply lines for the toilet and sink. They were on time, professional and very helpful!

Called the company this morning and told them I needed a shower valve replaced. I already had the cartridge, but could not get the old one out. They set an appointment for that afternoon. The installer arrived a little early (worked out better for me). He was finished in a few minutes and explained everything as he did it, then cleaned up the area before he left. He also reminded me that since I used Angies List, that I was entitled to a $25 discount. I knew about the discount, but was happy that he mentioned it first.

From the first phone call with the nice woman who answered the phone when making my appointment to the farewell by Jim after the work was done, I could not be more pleased with the service and professionalism. Jim called when he was leaving his last appointment, showed up early (you never know with traffic!) and explained everything he encountered and solutions along the way. He's even going to locate some old fixtures so I can use the tub again! I've been looking for a good and honest plumbing company for quite some time and I've now found them. It was a pleasure working with the Winegar team!
Description of Work: I live in an old 1940's house and at least once a year my bath tub drain needs to be snaked. Jim to the rescue!

So after the first plumber told me that they couldn't replace the waterline, I called back Winegar's and set up an appointment for them to come over and give me an estimate on replacing the waterline. Winegar did a good job of explaining what they would do, and gave me a reasonable estimate, and we set a date for the job. He also explained that they would have to rip out the finished wall on the inside of our basement to get to the pipes. He said that they could either get some one to do the work and include the extra cost of repairing the wall in the estimate, or I could get someone else to do it. I did the later, but was impressed that they were upfront about this extra cost, and that they could fix the wall if we had needed them to do so. We touched base the day before the appointment, and Winegar said the weather report called for heavy rain the day of the appointment. Winegar had already gave me a heads up during his estimate that they couldn't do it if it was raining. So we mutually agreed to cancel, and rescheduled for a few days later after the weekend-- contingent of course on no rain in the forecast. Winegar called me about a half hour before arriving the moring of the job to let me know he was on the way. I appreciated the call given that it was Monday morning, that I had to get to work, and that I have had many experiences with contractors being vague about when they are going to arrive and being late. The crew was there by 8:00am as promised, and I was able to go to work. I got a call mid-afternoon letting me know that the job was done. They had scraped the gravel off our driveway and saved it, and then re-spread it after they dug the trench for the new line with the backhoe, which is what Winegar had said they would do. He also called me first thing the next morning to make sure I was OK with the work, and to give me some advice on getting a rebate back from the water company for my excessive bill that we incurred during the two spiked billing periods during the leak.
Description of Work: W H Winegar & Son Plumbing and Heating 3005 Winifred Dr, Burtonsville, MD 20866 Winegar's replaced a leaking waterline between our house and the street, which is what we suspected the problem was because of two consequetive spikes in our water bill. Winegar's was great! I had already confirmed an appointment with another plumber to do the initial diagnose to confirm whether the leak was inside our house, or in the waterline between our house and the water company's mainline in the street. But I kept calling more plumbers to get more estimates, and was sorry I had made the first appointment with the other plumber after talking to Winegar's. Just from our initial phone conversation, I could tell that Winegar was much more knowledgeable and experienced with diagnosing and fixing waterleaks than any of the several other plumbers I had talked to. My reservations were borne out when I went ahead with the appointment with the first plumber. That company sent a guy out who did confirm that the leak was in the waterline between the house and the street, and not in the house; but then, much to my chagrin, the guy said that their company didn't have the capability to replace the waterline. I was frustrated because I had explained the situation thoroughly to them over the phone, and made clear that it was likely that the waterline replacement might be necessary. So my advice to you is that if you have a water leak make sure that the plumber you are asking to find your leak can do waterline replacement too, because I ended up having to pay them for the initial diagnosis of the first plumber that confirmed that it was the waterline, only to have them tell me they were incapable of doing the replacement. If I had realized that they couldn't do the waterline replacement, I would have kept searching for a plumber who could. If I had gone with Winegar's in the first place, Winegar's would have rolled the cost of the initial appointment to confirm that the leak was in the waterline between the house and the street into the overall cost of the waterline replacement. But, as I said, I regrettably kept my first appointment with the first plumber who couldn't finish the job, and ended up paying for that appointment separately.

.If you have a complex plumbing problem Winegar Plumbing is the right company to handle it! I was very impressed with Terry Winegar and his team. They were very punctual and knowledgeable. In addition to providing us with the best estimate, they have reduced it but $200 in the process by suggesting us reasonable ways to save. That does not happen often! What was also reassuring and why we wanted this company to work on our project was the fact that Terry knew exactly what needed to be done and how to do it. He also included getting work inspected and a permit into his quote. One other company that also gave us a quote said that it would cost additional thousands of dollars to get the work inspected. And another company said that we don't even have the sewer line in our basement and eventually gave us a highest quote, needless to say we did not chose that company. It just illustrates how many companies don't know what they are doing. To make the story short, if you are looking for a plumbing company, you don't need to look any further, Winegar Plumbing is the company I will call for my next project.
Description of Work: We wanted to move laundry into the basement to free-up space in the laundry room on the main level and convert it into an office. However, we did not have proper plumbing for the laundry in the basement and the sewer line was located under the basement's concrete floor. We needed a contractor to break into the concrete floor in the basement and set up a proper connection between sewer pipe and sink as well as the washer. In addition we needed hot and cold water pipes for the sink and washer, and hot air exit for the dryer. We also needed to disconnect washer and drier in the laundry on the main level and cap all the pipes there.

They arrived early, did a beautiful job and cleaned up nicely. The WSSC inspector noted the high quality of the work. And the owner called later in the afternoon to check on my experience and how the WSSC inspection had gone.

Showed up promptly, provided a comeptitive price and was professional and courteous during his visit. Bid was provided promptly and follow up was terrific. We decided to utilize a full service contractor for the project, where all services were done by their own in house employees, as it did not require coordination of contractors by the home owner. Next time I have a project I would not hesitate to call Terry again.

Excellent. The plumber who showed up was very polite and experienced. He did the work efficiently and well. He also looked around at other pipes in our basement (without our asking him to) to see whether other pinhole leaks were in formation, a common problem throughout Montgomery County. Luckily there were none.
Description of Work: Pinhole leak required a copper pipe section to be replaced. Additionally, a pipe and valve to our hot water heater needed to be replaced as it had corroded over from an earlier leak.
