At home depot, I picked up a new 6" and a new 8" valve assembly as I wasn't sure which length I would need (didn't have that chennellock yet so I couldn't remove the old valve). To do the job, I only needed one channellock and a vice-grip wrench but I suppose Bernard was envisioning my future plumbing needs as a homeowner, so that is why he suggested 2. I might have also misunderstood. No big deal though. :). I was able to work on replacing the assembly over the weekend with a little help from youtube to know how many turns to wrap the teflon tape and, sure enough, the valve/spigot assembly had cracked during last winter's snowzilla( I had neglected to shut the water off inside the home). I successfully replaced the pipe and it appears to be working now. That is true professionalism. Thanks, Bernard.

Excellent. Called Monday night after hours. Received scheduling call early Tuesday. Jim arrived on time Wednesday morning, had the parts on the truck and was done in 20 minutes. He was very careful about leak- checking and clean-up. Very smooth; I will be happy to call them again for plumbing problems.

We had a new kitchen faucet installed after our original one kept leaking and was starting to ruin the cabinet underneath. I was able to schedule same day service. The technician was prompt and courteous. We have a few other longer term projects for which he provided us estimates and plan to call back in the near future to schedule more work. Thanks!

Problem occurred at my Mother's home (a senior citizen) on a holiday weekend . When the plumber arrived, he carefully assessed the situation. His experience told him where the clog was and he was able to take the simplest action to quickly resolve the problem. In addition, the original problem, he determined that the wax ring on the toilet needed to be replaced. All actions were carefully explained before being undertaken. The plumberwas very efficient.

Had water heater and pipes replaced. They were very professional, explained everything and completed the job to my satisfaction.

Everything went very well. The water heater was leaking in this rental property and I needed to get the tenant hot water in a timely manner. I had contacted a plumber I had used in the past and he wouldn't install a new unit until I supplied additional air flow to the area where the heater was in the basement due to the newer high efficiency units and code changes. I called and spoke with Terry and explained my problem. He came out to the house within hours, offered a creative solution to solving my problem, had someone from the company cut louvered vent holes that day, and he and Jim promptly installed the water heater the next day. Couldn't have been happier--very knowledgeable, professional, and responsive with a "can do" attitude.

I called to make an appointment and appreciated the quick and responsive customer service from the office. I mentioned the Angie's List discount at that time, and was told the tech would take care of it during our appointment. The tech called ahead of time, and arrived at the time he promised. All good so far! He looked at the work to be done, and said, "it's a pedestal sink, I may have to mess with it a little." He then asked to use my bathroom and was unavailable for quite a while -- I went upstairs to ask him a question twice, and found the door closed for at least 15 minutes. I started getting some of my own work done. He went in and out several times, said nothing to me, no information about the work he was doing or how it was going. Then at one point he said he was almost done, and then that he would write up the ticket in the car. The bill was then $317 for a job I had been told by another plumber, a friend in another state, should be around $150-$200, and no more than 30-45 minutes of labor. The sticker shock was substantial, but really I was just as disappointed in the lack of communication. The tech didn't know I was a first time customer, didn't go over any costs with me in advance, didn't know I contacted them through Angie's List, didn't communicate with me about any challenges or extra time he might take, aside from "I might have to mess with it a little." He did not have the respect to show me the work that was done, nor did he go over what was actually done with me. If he had given me more information and communicated more professionally with me, I might have not balked at the price so much.

Perfect from beginning to end - called on Monday and they penciled me in for that afternoon with a Plan B for a few days later. Tech called when he was on the way. He came within the discussed window. Seemed very thorough - expressed concern over how the two parts fit together and just worked it till it was right.

Plumber Jim with Assistant David: Installed new valve, replaced what he deemed necessary-I took his suggestions what he found necessary to do. I particularly appreciated that plumber Jim explained first what he was going to do - and then what he had done, he tested everything with me present, and then cleaned up the area.

I am greatly satisfied with the services I received from this company. They resolved a stressful situation with a high degree of professionalism. My home was leaking water from the foundation. I couldn't believe it when WSSC informed me that I would have to be responsible for fixing this problem. Honestly, I was livid because I knew it would be a costly repair. At any rate, I contacted and met with a handful of companies, and after meeting with Terry, I felt confident that W.H. Winegar was the way to go. I am a busy professional, and I don't like surprises. W.H. Winegar did everthing they said they were going to do with no surprises. I was impressed with how they kept the lines of communication open every step of the way. Do not hesistate to trust this company for large or small jobs on your home.

I absolutely love Jim at Winegar. I have been without a reliable, honest plumber for years now and am thrilled to have found one. I only hope Jim and this company don't disappear. Jim is extremely experienced and knowledgeable about his work and shares what he knows freely. Jim is a wonderfully friendly man with a great sense of humor. His ethics seem to be topnotch. My dogs recognized a dog person and were all over him on his way out. Dogs know good people! I have already let a friend know that we have finally found a plumber and I will certainly do the same anytime I hear someone is looking. I certainly plan to hire this company and Jim again when the need arises. I would recommend this plumbing company and its employees without reservation.

With every job, they were quick, cleaned up afterwards nicely, and I felt a real concern for me and my home. And they are so knowledgeable!

W. H. Winegar is good to call when you need heavy duty equipment. They were recommended to me by my regular plummer because the drains in my old house are very long and required an extra long snake. I have been using W. H. Winegar for several years to maintain these drains. Since then, the drains work better for longer periods of time.

This experience was truly an A+. I called the number listed on Angie's List. I spoke to the representative from Winegar's who understood it was important. I got a call back from a plumber in ten minutes. Terry Winegar showed up within the hour. Terry was friendly, explained things and put my mind at ease. He was in and out in no time and charged us a very reasonable rate.

8/14 - Plumber Jim came today to replace insides of toilette water tank, etc. He was pleasant, explained what he was going to do - and asked me to check things out once work was finished and before I paid. A most pleasant experience. Cost of service was less than originally estimated.

Over the years, water stains had appeared on ceilings and walls in different places, but we had unwisely ignored them. Finally, after a family member took a shower, some water actually leaked through the living room ceiling. We found that Winegar Plumbing was highly recommended on Angie's List, so I called them. I asked for somebody knowledgeable about the pipes in a house (because of the stains in different places) and Jim was scheduled for the next day. Jim showed up right on time (after calling to let us know he was on the way) and we couldn't have asked for anybody more knowledgeable and experienced than Jim. He inspected all the stains and then checked out the upstairs tub and shower. He then examined inside the access panel and found that the pipes and connections were all solid with no signs of leakage, but he showed us a build-up of mildew over on the side underneath where the bathroom floor meets the tub. Because of water splashing out of the tub during showers, water was leaking down through the floor and then apparently down through the pathway of the drainpipe to the lower ceilings and floors. Jim explained what to do to keep that from happening in the future. If that doesn't solve the problem, he said we'll have to open up the ceilings to investigate the problem further, but the evidence so far doesn't suggest such a radical step at this time. In addition, Jim fixed the P-joint in our bathroom sink. Recent heavy construction behind our house had shaken our house badly and, I think, caused the P-joint to pull away from the tailpiece. I had tried to replace it, but I couldn't separate the P-joint from the horizontal pipe. Jim just pulled it right off, fixed the whole thing up in a jiffy, and made sure there were no leaks. All in all, we were very pleased with Winegar's promptness. Jim knew what he was doing and was a pleasure to work with; we'll ask for him specifically in the future.

Arrived at 1:30 for 1:00 appointment. Called at 12:50 to say he was on his way. Evaluated gas hot water heater and determined it needed replacing. Provided verbal quote of $1500 to replace 50 gallon water heater with another one having a 6 year warranty. The installation is a straight forward replacement in an area with easy access. Was on-site about 15 minutes. I subsequently contracted with Sears to replace it for less than $1000.

They did great work. Our fixture is very old, however the plumber was able to fix it anyway. They switched the hot and cold during the repair and we discovered this after the plumber left. We called and a technician came within a day to correct the hot and cold water control. They also tweaked one of our new toilets to allow more water into the bowl after flushing. The toilet works much better now.

All went well with the installation and operation of the new valve. It only took about 15 to 20 minutes to get the old one off , it had to be cut off by hand with a saw, and put the new one on. I had a coupon from Angie's List that he honored. He was very personable and easy to talk to. I would call him again for any plumbing problems.

We had the old plastic type of water main, which is no longer used. When it failed it took me some time to figure out how to deal with it. You have to get WSSC to come and determine whether the leak is their responsibility or yours. wiThis one was ours, so that meant getting a plumber who could do this kind of job, and get him to do it fast. Terry gave me good, expert advice, and installed a new copper main in a timely manner. He was even able to "pull" the pipe and didn't have to dig up the entire yard. I was very happy with the work performed. One other tip for anyone dealing with this: see if a neighbor will let you connect your hose bib to theirs when the water is turned off. You can supply your house temporarily this way.
