However, they would not / could not finish the blower door portion of the test until we made certain home improvement corrections (remediating some asbestos, checking certain places for mold) so we haven't really gotten our full bang for our buck yet.

+ -1 moreVery professional. Technician explained what he and his colleague were doing, answered all of my questions. The $600.00 final cost to me reflected rebates from the Small Town Energy Program (STEP) and PEPCO. Normal cost would have been just under $3,000.00.
Description of Work: Performed energy audit of house, including blower test before and after, and performed work to improve efficiency of house.. Installed 13" of batt insulation in attic, applied foam insulation to all other penetrations and top plate. Installed attic stair tent cover. Sealed basement sill, joists, chaseways in original chimney structure. Recommended installation of chimney balloon in living room fireplace.

+ 0 moreWe selected them as our home energy evaluator and improvement company through the Small Town Energy Program (http://www.smalltownenergy.org/). They were highly-rated through other STEP program participants, and we also had a good experience. They were very responsive to all of our needs and questions. They performed our home energy audit promptly and were able to complete the reinsulation of our second floor quickly. We have already seen a huge improvement in the climate control of our upstairs and will be reprogramming our thermostat downward again for winter nights. We anticipate being able to make similar changes to our energy use in the summer, come air conditioning season.

Several months after my energy audit, I called and left my name, referenced the audit and proposal they had done for me and asked them to call me to schedule the work. No one returned my call. I guess they didn't want my business.
Description of Work: Efficient Home had done an energy audit for me in early December 2010 and I received their report and proposal for insulating work about a week later. At that time. they could not schedule me into their work load to complete it by the end of the year so I decided to wait until after the holidays. The energy audit itself seemed OK but when I had another company look at, they said it did not provide the detail they needed to file for the credits.

+ 1 moreEfficient Home was very professional, punctual and personable but not exactly what I needed with our complicated heating and airconditioning issues.
Description of Work: Tom Hudson came to give an evaluation and estimate for various issues with our heating and air conditioning, air handling, insulation and other issues. He was punctual, knowledgable and very professional. He spent a long time but in the end he admitted that he is not an expert on heating and air conditioning and I felt that is what I needed.
