THE REMODELING WAS SUBCONTRACTED OUT AND WAS EXCELLENT. THE ROOFING OVER A LARGE MULTIPLE GABLE ROOF WAS PLACED WITHIN ONE DAY AND FINISHED A DAY LATER. UNABLE TO STOP LEAKS, 1 1/2 YEARS LATER. RESPONSE TO REQUESTS WERE VERY SLOW OR NOT AT ALL. INITIALLY WE WERE VERY PLEASED BUT AS TIE WENT ON IT JUST GOT WORSE.

My first tip that this is not a professional company was that the phone number listed with the HOA was wrong. A professional firm would have had that fixed. But when I did find their number, no one bothered to return my call.

After the Inspection, all we get is a letter stating that the roof should last 2 years. Nothing about the Rotting Pergola leaning on the roof pushing up the shingles, Nothing about the standing water on the roof, and Nothing about the Bubbled or hanging Shingles. When we called back Todd Snell stated that Steve shouldnt have promised us these things. Todd said that the standard for $300 is just the letter and nothing else. We asked Todd if he would come fix the problems that he missed in his inspection and he said that the certification is not a warranty. Evidently, it's just something for lenders to hang their hat on. Todd said I could get a refund or pay to get the bigger service. We asked for the refund.We called back again on Friday Aug. 26 to see about the refund we had been promised as we had not heard back and hadnt seen a refund on our credit card. After checking out Credit Card again on Aug. 31 (and still no return call) we called Todd again to find out what was happening with the refund. We finally got ahold of Todd and he said said we were not getting a refund and hung up on us. Not only did we have to call 3 times to get answers for anything we had to deal with rude receptionists and supposed "roofing professtionals".
Description of Work: We are purchasing an older home (26 years old) and per our Inspector we requested a Roof Inspection. We contacted Snell and Sons Roofing about a Roof Inspection on Thursday Aug. 18th, 2011 to schedule an appt letting them know it was a rush bc we were closing in about 2 weeks if everything went well. We were told they would call us back and they did not. We called again on Friday Aug 19th and did not get a return call. Finally on Monday Aug. 22 we called again and were able to schedule an appt for Tuesday Aug. 23. We were told verbally that they would inspect the roof, tell us things that need to be fixed and approx how long the roof would last. They also said that if it was possible they would certify the roof for 2 years. This was all promises made by Steve. We thought that $300 would be well spent on this after spending $1000 on the Inspection and $500 on the Appraisal.

This company was highly recommended by family and friends. I considered replacing my gutters. Stephen and Tim came out and recommended leaf relief gutters and quoted a price of approximately 1100. They also recommended that I have a vent cap installed on all peaks of my roof to help with venting the attic and prolonging the life of my roof. After a couple follow-on phone calls I decided to do the cap and have the leaf relief installed in my existing gutters instead of a full replacement. Total price would be around 1800. The decision was made a week before I would travel out of state for two weeks. However I didn't receive an actual contract until I emailed Stephen a few days later and while I was on my trip. I received it in email, signed and fax'd it back the next day. I provided my credit card info over email as requested. This was done on the 20th of July. I wasn't real concerned how quickly the job would get done but hoped it would be before I returned from my trip. I asked Stephen at least three different times via email. The three responses were first of next week (which would have been the week of the 25th, then some time this week, and finally just an email that he didn't need to come into the house to perform any of the work. I arrived home on the 29th (Friday) and the work hadn't been done and I hadn't received any emails or phone calls from Stephen. The next day I emailed Stephen to ask if I could get a specific date the work would be done and that I hoped it would be done already since my VISA card was charged the one third the total price one week ago. It's Sunday morning and I haven't received a response. Stephen and TIm seemed like great guys and probably are. And I wouldn't doubt the company is reputable. It may just be a special situation so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. However, I just wanted to post my experience so far and will post a final update when they either complete the work or I terminate the contract.
