The Design Expo - Flooring Center of Bowie

We worked with Scott ? very responsive and professional. He was helpful in making color and design decisions. Purchased hardwood and a custom rug for our kitchen plus vinyl tile in the laundry room. (The washer and dryer had to be moved, which made me a little nervous, but I shouldn?t have been because it all went smoothly.) The installation was done by Mr. Yung and Santos, who worked hard all day and into the early evening to get the job done and were pleasant and approachable. The results are beautiful and we?re very pleased. Will definitely recommend Design Expo.

Great. Installation was done quickly and looks great.

We worked first with Scott, and them with Gene. We had an initial problem with the adhering of the solid vinlyl tile to the existing tile, but Gene went out of his way to ensure that the installation ended up properly. We are very pleased with the final result.

I initially spoke with Scott, who was very prompt and professional. He contacted me quickly and he gave me a very fair and reasonable estimate . His associates who came to install the floors did an amazing job, were very hard working, took no break , and gave themselves minimal time to eat lunch. I was impressed with the incredibly high quality of work and for a relatively low price (I called around to quite a few businesses so I knew he gave me the best price).

Completely satisfied with both projects. Will recommend (already have) and use them again in future. Our salesman Scott was a joy to work with after having dealt with other companies and their salesmen during the estimating process.

This is our third project with Design Expo. The first was hardwood stairs and the second was hardwood in an office. The carpet product on this project was great...we got exactly the look and feel that we wanted and the he installation was immaculate. It was a big job that took an entire day but it was worth the wait. Scott (the owner) said that we would be impressed with the installers skill and professionalism and he was right. Scott came by a few days later to insure that we were satisfied with the job. We have one pending item which is the carpet runner for the stairs which will be taken care of in a couple of weeks. I hired Design Expo to install the backsplash tile in my kitchen, and I have to say it was a really great experience. Gene, one of the part owners, really took his time to explain the process, give guidance on the tile selection and gave really good examples of what not to do. He sent me to the Design Warehouse to work with the designers to make sure I received the right kind of tile and color tile. I wanted to purchase natural stone, but the design folks persuaded me not to because it stains and is not durable enough for the kitchen. That guidance saved me a great deal of cash as well! After selecting the tile, there was a mishap with the ordering of the right decorator pieces. The installer started the work and then discovered we did not have the correct pieces. He was also great in providng guidance about the finishing which required the ordering of additional bullnose. I had to wait a week but I'm totally ok with that. The finished product is absolutely spectacular and worth the wait and worth listening to the professionals. I am extremely pleased with the result and I loved how it pulled my kitchen together! Selecting backsplash tile is a very difficult task in that you have to make sure it coordinates and doesn't clash with your counters and your floors. It's a very slow going process, but you can completely trust this company because they guide you every step of the way and don't try to over charge or upsell you. If I have another tile project I will absolutely use them again!!!

Overall more than satisfied with project. Vinyl tile laid in 2 days. Very happy with results. We questioned planned approach for transition from dining room tile to foyer hardwood. Gene from Design Expo was at our home within 20 minutes to ensure transition was installed to our liking. Carpeting done 2 days later and completed in one day. We did have some questions regarding completed job. Design Expo scheduled re-visit during which many of our issues were addresses. Still working one aspect with Design Expo.

Gene was very good. There are 2 owners there and they are both pretty good. Gene came out and did an excellent job of measuring and stuff. I have had him come out several years ago, and I didn't go with his flooring company. I went with somebody else, but I had remembered him because I was impressed by him. He is the engineer, and the measuring guy, and the nuts and bolts kind of guy. I went with him this time because I had not used his services before. They were very responsive.

First, I want to apologize for this long overdue review of the Design Expo. If you read no farther, take away that this is an excellent service provider and you will not be sorry if you hire them to do your work. My husband consulted Angie's List to find this company out of Bowie, MD. We live in Perry Hall, but they were willing to travel for such a large job. We had a measure and meet appointment that took a few days to coordinate, but Scott was very responsive and always returned missed calls. We have a three story townhouse that had carpet throughout. We had a floating 3 1/4" hardwood Shaw laminate put down over the concrete subfloor in the basement and a 3/4 " solid Shaw hardwood installed on the second level and the stairs. The upstairs bedrooms, upper staircase and basement bedroom were recarpeted with premium carpet and padding. The entry foyer was retiled with Armstrong Alterna luxury vinyl tile. The work was done over three days. First the basement and stairs, second the stairs and living room, and third the carpeting. The two hardwood and tile workers were punctual, and polite and hardworking. They cleaned up after themselves every day. There were several different guys that came to do the carpeting, also professional and polite. The carpeting actually took longer than we thought it would. All of the old carpet and padding was removed. We could not be more thrilled with our floors. They look wonderful and are super easy to care for. We paid about 1/3 in cash up front and financed the rest for 12 months with no interest through a GE Capital Retail Bank credit card with the no interest promotion built in. We will definitely be calling Scott and Design Expo again when we are ready to tackle the bathroom floors and redo the kitchen.

Went very well from start to finish. Gene worked with us over a couple visits to the store to find carpet we liked, in the color we wanted (emerald green, not easy to find). Got samples sent to us. Price was way less than competitor's quote. Carpet quality seems very good. Installers on time and professional. Seems like they did a perfect job. Moved all furniture back and forth no problem. Hauled old carpet. No complaints at all. Highly recommended.

price was fair.The old tile floor was removed and another sub floor was found underneath. We decided to remove it as well so all floors would be at same level. These guys worked very hard!! The new hard wood floor is beautiful. They took care of many issues with the floor being uneven and created a beautiful entrance. The steps also turned out beautifully. The poly coating is non slip so nothing is needed on the steps so the beautiful wood is showcased.

Initially we asked Scott for an estimate on wood flooring - which he gave us. We changed our minds after weighing some of the issues and decided on tile instead. We asked him for an estimate on installing Travertine Armstrong tile. We discussed this thoroughly with him and he guided us each step of the way. Since my wife wanted the install to consist of alternating tile of different sizes the install was a bit more complex than laying one standard size of tile. Nevertheless, Scott came out when the technicians were in our home and he and my wife instructed the techs on how things were to be done. It took the techs (two of them) two full days to complete the job but the floor is beautiful. The complaints we have are minimal given the size of the job. A few spots where adhesive got on the base boards but it wasn't a big deal (I explained to the techs that I was going to do some touch up painting anyway - not to worry about it). I've done some tile work myself in the past and I have to give these folks kudos - it was a big job. The techs were pleasant, didn't say much, just did their jobs. Very professional. Based on other estimates we received, the price for this floor was definitely a value for what we had done. Most excellent job! We will definitely be repeat customers when we have the upstairs flooring done.

The new flooring was installed 11 months ago. My experience was great. Scott called and scheduled appt to visit home. He said Design Expo was able to obtain some special pricing on wood flooring and would bring samples. Scott is very enthusiastic and helpful. We decided on the flooring and installers were available immediately. The 2 installers were amazing. The hardest working young men I've ever seen work. No music, barely breaking for lunch, and worked 2 long days. They moved furniture and replaced furniture while completing the flooring. The installers completed the work amazingly quick. I'm very happy with the floors. My family is happy with the flooring decision and quality. I feel like Scott took care of me and I'm currently working with Scott again on flooring for the basement.

Salesman was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Gave us an estimate broken down by square feet. Cost was MUCH more reasonable than Empire, but we ultimately went with another company that provided comparable carpet at a lower price.

Gene Burton was very responsive in helping to select carpet for our church worship and welcome center. He was very patient and helpful as we worked to determine the best choice and colors. He was informative about different options and products. The installers did a great job not only on the install, but on making sure that they cleaned up as they went along. We were more than satisfied with this project and will use The Design Expo in the future.

Everything worked out very well. They came out when they said they would. It took longer than they said it would and that did not lower the price any. The people themselves seemed very skilled at what they were. They were competitive in price. I thought that the people that I was dealing with were more to my liking. If I have another flooring job, I would definitely call them back.

Scott is great. We think he really understands flooring.

Contractor took up old carpet and installed new hardwoord flooring in MBR and Family room. Contractor showed up at 9:20 Sat morning and worked until about 6:00 PM. Overall a good job, but clean-up was not good. There were some black specs on the walls in the MBR which I had to touch up with paint. Clean up of the floors in MBR and Family Room was also not great. Clean-up aside, the floors look very nice.

The price they charge was reasonable and they did a good job. We haven't had any problems in dealing with them.

Gene Burton came to give me estimate......very nice business man.....well mannered and informative.....agreed for work to be done. On day of work, one worker arrived and completed entire job. Only half of the kitchen floor had to be rectified. Very clean work was completed on time......

We learned a lot about flooring types and characteristics from The Design Expo staff, and also about finishes for our old oak floors. We followed the recommendations for refinishing options and choose bamboo flooring for the new floor, based on the information we received and are very pleased with both results. Design Expo did an excellent job of installing our new floor in one room and of refinishing two other rooms.superb. Clean-up- was also The work has held up well since it was done (nearly two years). We highly recommend this company. We didn't get other bids, so we can't rate the price.

I was very satisfied with this service provider from my initial contact with the salesperson to the installation of the hardwood floors. The salesman provided a detailed estimate which included the cost of the supplies as well as the shipping and handling. The installers arrived timely and worked diligently all day until the job was completed. They were professionals and did an outstanding job installing the floors. They put the furniture back in its place and did an excellent job cleaning up behind themselves.

Salesman was punctual. Quick measure. simple, straightforward pricing with explination. no hard sell. no pressure folllow up in a few days. they don't do simple screening, but offered a referral. I went with someone a bit cheaper and who would do both jobs - , but their hard sale tactic is making me wish I'd picked Design Expo instead.

They have very personal service which I really like. We're pleased with their prices and we're pleased with the quality of their work the only thing about them is the people who they contacted to do the floors. The hours that the contractors had was not the most convenient for out family but they're punctual. They started up in the morning and then they didn't finished until like 7 or so which was inconvenient for us.
