Spartan Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning

The experience was good. The service went well, it was quick.

Spartan did an excellent job. Don, the supervisor, provided a reasonable estimate. He arrived on time and was very professional. He said he could have a plumber out the same day to do the work. I appreciated that, because I had to take leave from work to be there. He arrived with his technician, and Don showed the technician what had to be done. The technician went above and beyond when he worked very hard to get the old dishwasher out of the space so he could do the work. He showed me what he was doing. He took great care to clean up after the work was done. Everything went as planned and in a timely fashion. I appreciate the professionalism of all the people I interacted with during this project. I would definitely use Spartan again.

My AC went down Wednesday night after hours. I call Spartan the next morning and they had a technician out to my house by 12:30. He quickly diagnosed the problem but did not have a replacement part in his truck. Although it was early afternoon he could not go back to the shop to get the part so I ended up paying the service fee for a diagnosis and no repair. He returned the next morning, replaced the part and got my AC back up and running. Courteous technician and arrived promptly but it surprised me that he did not have the part in his truck given that it's a common part that goes wrong often. I had to wait another day but he fixed the AC, made sure everything else was working and at the correct pressure and overall I'm happy with the service. Spartan responded quickly to my call and arrived on time with a pre-arrival telephone call to let me know they are almost there.

I called Spartan to try and get a plumber willing to conduct the work in my crawl space without tearing up the floors to gain access. They were polite on the phone, we made an appointment, and the plumber arrived on time. He quickly assessed the problem and estimated that the work would be completed by 2pm. After beginning, he re-estimated completion at 3pm, and finally completed the work closer to 4pm. In general, I am happy with the service and work provided. The cost was higher than other estimates, but given that I didn't have to pay anyone to remove and replace my hardwood flooring--it evened out. I do have two issues with the service provided. The first is that the plumbers left debris in the crawl space from the work. The second is that they left without closing the crawl space access or the door to the closet with the access. Leaving a gaping hole in the floor is unsafe--particularity because we have pets.

My A/C unit was leaking water will in use. I called Spartan over the weekend and the On Call technician responded within 20 minutes. Edgar was able to diagnose the issue (broken condensation pump) and came back the next day to replace the part. He was very professional and offered me a discount for being a recurring customer. Also the company's customer service was very helpful with allowing me to pay for this service in installment. Overall the service was great. Edgar was prompt, knew what he was doing and gave me tips on how to care for my unit.

They told me that they would be here between 12 noon and 6pm on Tuesday. No calls, no show!!! When I called on Wednesday morning they told me that they would be out today. They did come out and gave me $20 off for 15 min of work. I suggest finding a different company for service.

I had already attempted to repair the shower via a part from Home Depot with no success. I called Spartan in the hopes they would have the proper part. The technician arrived and said that they didn't have the part in stock but could order it. He did however turn off the water to just the shower. We had the main water valve shut. He told us that it would save us time and money by ordering and installing the part ourselves. He was very helpful and didn't want us to pay for services that we could do ourselves. The $89.00 service fee was worth it, since it allowed us to have water in our house.

Technician came same day we called, and called 30 minutes before, which is all good. Of course, when he came, it was barely making any noise. Technician did not inspect anything. He just noted that Spartan would not repair it since the unit is 16 years old. Gave me a quote for a new furnace, and charged me $89! THAT is what galls me. I would have just chalked that up to naivety on my part about this type of service, if it wasn't for the fact that the next company I called came and looked very closely at the fan, using meters to check things out, taking thing apart, getting another capacitor device from the truck, saying that they COULD replace the fan if need be, but, in the end, everything checked out OK and no other service or replacement is required right now. That cost $125, but the guy actually WORKED for that for about 45 minutes. I have no problem paying for professional expertise like that. But, anyway, back to Spartan, charging $89 for 5 minutes of doing nothing but giving me a quote for a new furnace and processing my credit card is ridiculous. Whether that is the norm in the industry or not, it should not be. I will not bother calling Spartan again.

I am very pleased with the quality of customer service and work. My boiler's pilot light went out late evening on 2/15/2014. I dialed Spartan and received service within the hour. The technician (Gary) advised me to replace a part, but I just settled for the lighting of my pilot. BOY WAS I WRONG. I had to call back the next day because the pilot went out again. Fortunately, I had the same technician, so he was able to fix the problem in no time. He was timely, professional and knowledgeable. My cat even seemed to approve. Overall, I give Spartan an A rating and recommend them to anyone who needs good heating services.

They diagnosed and fixed the problem in a short period of time. I asked them to look at a drain that was somewhat clogged and a low flow faucet. They told me what to do to fix the faucet, and gave me a flat (high) rate to snake the line. I declined on the snake.

I called three days in a row to set up a time for them to come out and all three days I was told a technician was going to call when they were on their way. All three days for all of these appointments a technician never called and never came out.

No-show, no-call. Unprofessional. Would not recommend. Had them do a service previously on our gas furnace for a pilot light that wouldn't stay on. Replaced thermocouple, but, now weeks later, still having same problem with pilot light going out.

I was awoken this morning by my neighbor knocking on my door to inform me that the water pipe under my porch was spouting water. I immediately turned off the water supply to the house, which resolved the spouting of the water, but also meant that I did not have water at all in the house. Clearly needing to have water, I called Spartan to have someone come out and replace the broken pipe. Spartan had received more than 150 calls overnight due to issues stemming from the cold weather. As such, it was highly unlikely that they would have been able to dispatch a repair truck to me today or even the next. However, Tony, the Spartan employee with whom I was speaking, was still a lifesaver. Tony, having been a repair person for many years and was familiar with homes in my neighborhood, told me that my house had a separate water valve for the outdoor pipe. I had no idea because the valve had been hidden by insulation around the main water intake pipes. Tony stayed on the phone with me as I removed the insulation to find the mysterious valve. Low and behold, success. I not only now had water in the house, but I had no water leaking outside of the house. The repair/replacement of the pipe can be postponed until warmer weather in the spring. I will absolutely be calling Spartan this spring to replace the pipe. Thanks Spartan!!!

When I reached the answering service I could barely hear the person answering the phone (my hearing is quite good). When I mentioned that I couldn't hear the woman who answered the phone the line suddenly went dead. I called back because the temperature is dropping into the low 30s and I'd like to get this fixed if I can. The second time I struck pay dirt. The connection was still horrible but the person answering the call deigned to speak with me. She took my information and said she would have the on call person contact me. Shortly thereafter someone called. We established after a few minutes discussion that I have a digital thermostat with no read out. The on call person told me to check the battery. When I reported that the thermostat had no battery he seemed unable to figure out what to do next. He then said that there might be a battery in the heater itself. When I said that I didn't think that was something I was going to be able to check he pretty much gave up. The on call guy who appeared to be responsible for 24 hour emergency service (the answering service asked me if I considered this an 'emergency' I said that I did) told me that 'we won't be able to get to you tomorrow. I thanked him for his time and hung up. So, here I sit making a mental inventory of the space heaters in the house and wondering how cold its going to get tonight. Spartan is the last company that I would call for services, routine, maintenance, or emergency services. They can do far better.

Spartan plumbing came out on a Sunday night to fix a broken pipe. Abdoul went under the house and did the work with speed and accuracy in a very dark and cob web covered crawl space . I was impressed by their ability to come out within an hour or so and get the job done quickly. I will definitely use them again.

I have used Spartan many times for many issues including new a/c, new garbage disposal system, leaks, etc. The are responsive to me when I call and I believe there is no surcharge for weekend work which is nice. I use them often and will continue to do so for the real estate properties which I manage. ******UPDATE****** Sadly, I can no longer give Spartan a good rating. The quality has gone down and the price has gone up. Two of their service men tried to tell me I needed new toilets when all they needed were the inside parts. It is too bad because I had come to depend on them.

It went really well. They were on time. They were reasonably priced. They were also polite and professional.

We called and a technician was able to come out within an hour that same morning, so the service was quite prompt. This is the second time (over a 1.5 year period) that we needed our main sewer line cleared, because of roots. The first time Spartan came out a 1.5 years ago the charge was $250/hour, they sent two technicians, and they were done in less than an hour. This time their price was up to $295/hour, only one technician came and he took 1.25 hours, so they charged us for 1.5 hours worth of work. He did a great job, but moved a bit slower than I would have liked given that I was paying him by the hour. Overall it was a mostly painless experience, even though the price was a fair bit higher than the previous job.

Two guys showed up when they said they would. I received a call about 15 minutes before they came letting me know they were on their way. They were prompt, clean, left everything in good condition and snaked two major drains without making a mess. They were charging by the hour but they were done in about 40 minutes. Fast, punctual, effective and reasonably priced. Will definitely use them again.

We've been using Spartan for 12 years. For this call they called to say they were on their way and showed up on time. They replaced the garbage disposal we provided. He cleaned up the work area.

The service was excellent. Everything was good but the only thing I would say is that they could not give me an exact cost when they were on site. I had someone there at the house and they wanted him to sign a piece of paper when the work was completed, but he would not sign because they did not have a cost there. I had given them my credit card number before they even came out so they just charged my credit card. The price was fine but just not knowing the cost and asking someone to sign something was not good.

After being given a 5 hour window, NO ONE CAME!! I was told someone would be out between 12 and 5pm. At 3:30 I called to get and ETA and was told 5pm. At 6:30pm, I called back and got the answering service who could not give me any information. The next morning, we called again. At first they told us they were too busy, and then realizing their mistake from the previous day, said they could come, but couldnt provide a time. We told the operator that if we were given a 30 mins heads up, we could be home. When they did call, they told us that they were standing outside our door! We told them for the second time we needed 30 mins notice, but would be there shortly. They said they would do another job and then return. They never called or returned.

I thought they really had a pretty good price. It went great. I would use them again in the future.

They provided reasonable prices and prompt service.
