Metropolitan Bath

Metro's estimate for our Master Bath was about $4,000 more than the other two estimates (from Angie's A+ contractors). We chose Metro because they offer full time designers and because they are experts in Bathrooms. Overall, we are pleased with the final results. Charlene, our sales rep, understood my contemporary style and made appealing product suggestions. Shawn, a designer who coached our designer, helped me understand how my choices would impact the big picture. He explained what light would do to the colors and the energy that product or paint color choices would create. The laborers (Raphael? Oh no, I may have forgotten their names) were exceptionally friendly and professional.Each day, they would tell me when they would return and they left the work space spotless. They took great care and pride in their work. I would love to work with them again! The designer who wrote up our contract (not Shawn) made errors that seem to be a result of inexperience. She thought she understood contemporary design, but did not. When I thought she understood what I was saying, she had a transitional, not contemporary concept in mind and made decisions based on her ideas. For example, after viewing shower tile options, I selected large horizontal white tiles for the hall bath. She wrote the contract for vertical tiles and later explained that the vertical tiles would add interest since the floor tiles are horizontal. I wasn't seeking interest, I was seeking sleek, simple contemporary. Metro was responsive and wanted to make me happy. I decided to keep the vertical tiles because I had (inadvertently) signed the contract for vertical and I did not feel write having the workers take down all of their work. The designer told me the tiles do not come from China. The tiles, and most if not all, of the supplies came from China. Suggestion: Review the contract again the next day when refreshed! I signed after two hours of product selection and was too tired to focus. The black granite in our hall bath (color recommended by our designer) became cloudy and spotty right away. Raphael checked it out and cleaned it but nothing changed. The bathroom had not been used when we first noticed this, so its not from usage. There is a milky, cloudy film on it. I checked out black granite in a couple of restaurant restrooms and in a couple of kitchens, where plenty of water is spilled and none have this cloudy appearance. Ray had the granite manufacturer call in November and I returned his call, leaving a voice mail message with availability in early December. He did not call back so I called again earlier this week and left a couple of more dates. Hopefully, we will get this resolved. I would recommend Metro if interested in traditional design. there is a large selection of preferred tiles that are discounted because they are ordered in bulk. The selection of contemporary tiles is limited and there is no discount because they are not ordered in bulk. The reason I would not choose Metro again is because I would rather choose a more environmentally conscious company, not one that purchases all their items from China.
