They contract out for the different functions of picking up the existing one, installing the other one for delivery and so on. Each contractor did a good job, but it was complicated because we had to be home at times when we ordinarily wouldn't be home. Each individual contractor did better than the C grade. The quality seemed to be fine, except it was a long and drawn out procedure. They gave us a 3 hour window, and they came within the 3 hour window. They called before they came. We would not use them if we could find a simpler system.
Description of Work: We used Home Depot for an oven purchase.

They work through a contractor that actually does the manufacture and installation. It all went extremely well and we couldn't be happier with them. Our old counters were 20 years old and showed it. We are tickled pick with our new counters. The pricing was very good. We checked some others and they were compatible with other places we looked at. They had to glue two pieces together at the installation and I know where the seam is but I cannot see it. The salesman spent ample time with us explaining the various products and discussing them. They were very prompt in making the appointment and doing the work. They cleaned up the place and didn't leave any mess of any kind.
Description of Work: We ordered new countertops for our kitchen and their subcontractor did the actual manufacture and installation.

Buyer Beware! Be very careful if you use the Home Depot to install something you purchased there. I purchased a Chamberlain garage door opener, model number HD600D, on a Tuesday morning. Since they only charge $97 to install, I purchased that, as well. My husband and I are busy moving, so I figured having them do it would save us time and energy. The associate insisted that I could not take the opener home that day and that the installer would bring it with him when he installed. It took 6 DAYS for me to have an appointment scheduled, and that involved me calling Home Depot and them calling the contractor and telling them to call me. That was annoying. Lo and behold, when I arrived home from work, the installer was installing a different product than what I bought! I looked up and immediately noticed it was not the opener I had picked in the store. My nightmare had come true ? Home Depot had done a bait and switch. I explained the situation to the contractor, who called his dispatcher, Vicky, at Colpree (sp?). Vicky explained that I was the second customer today to call with the problem. Colpree, or wherever the contractor picks up from (which was not Home Depot) was out of the opener I had paid for, so they gave him a substitute! He then tried to convince me that the substitute was a better product! I explained to him that the substitute didn?t have key features that I had researched and that made me want the model I had chosen, namely, the wireless keypad, two car remotes, the motion detecting light sensor, and the adapter that allowed you to turn on an interior light from your car (remote light control). To me, the fact that the ?Formula 1? Liftmaster Model 3280 that he installed lacked all of those features meant I was getting a VERY inferior product. He then went to his truck and volunteered to add a wireless key pad and give us an extra remote. I explained that his cobbled together system was not what I researched and paid for, still lacked key accessories, and I had absolutely no idea what kind of warranty Chamberlain would offer for it, whereas the one I chose in the store had a lifetime warranty on the motor and 10 year warranty on key parts. I then called Home Depot and spoke with a male associate (Jordan?) who tried to tell me that the opener the installer had installed was the same opener, just a different name. I explained that the box didn?t have half of the items I paid for, that the name was different, and that the model number was different. He said it was because I had a professional version. I decided he was a liar, and hung up with him and called back. That is when I spoke with Tory at Home Depot. I gave Tory the two model numbers ? the one installed and the one I had paid for, and she tried to look in the system to compare the two. I explained that that would probably be impossible, because when I had tried to find the Liftmaster 3280 online, there were scant reviews and it didn?t even look like Home Depot sold it. For me, that is a major issue because I always research major products that I purchase. The fact that whatever is installed in my garage right now doesn?t even have an online presence is disturbing, especially considering that I read dozens of Home Depot and Amazon reviews for the Whisper Drive, which is what helped me choose that model in the first place.I am now working with Home Depot to get what I researched and paid for. I can't believe that his has happened. This is a caution - if you use Home Depot to install your product, insist that you take the product out of the store and if that isn't feasible, make sure they bring what you paid for.
Description of Work: Purchased a garage door opener in the store and decided to also take advantage of the $97 installation.

The company contracted through Home Depot is named Door Pro. They have terrible customer service and they gave me the run around after I purchased the openers. On April 21st I called and spoke to Gina to find out when they were coming out to replace the garage door openers. When they came to install one of the openers I had stood out there to keep an eye on what was going on. The first opener installed was perfect. The man was very knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing. The job was done in 30 minutes and the man did the work by himself. A week or two later a crew of men came out to install the second one. I stood outside to keep an eye on what they were doing. When I stepped away for a second they were leaving. I noticed that the opener installed was completely different from what it was supposed to be installed. The opener I purchased had a light sensor on it and the one installed did not. I called the company to express my dissatisfaction and Gina told me that she had to speak with the first installer to verify my story. She said that once it was verified she would do the leg work. The first man came back out and took pictures and discovered that the second crew had broken the first and that is why they installed the other opener. I called on April 22nd and she said she would check with the warehouse manager as to when the opener I wanted would be available. I called on April 29th again to speak with Gina and again she said she needed to check with her warehouse manager. Either time they never called me back and this became the process. I ended up doing most of the calling trying to get them to come back out and install the correct opener. Finally I got fed up and my husband called and he talked to Dean who was the manager and when he called them and when Dean heard the details he said a job so simple shouldn't take that long. He sent someone to Home Depot to get the wall sensor. A guy finally came out and put up the wall sensor but he didn't have the right color. The original was black but this one was blue and I would have liked them to match. The man wasn't rude but he wasn't enthusiastic and not the kind person you want on the job. Now the light is out and we had such a bad experience that we would rather have the light out then deal with them again. When the first man was out he showed me how to use the punch in key pad and gave instructions. When the second crew came out they just threw it up and left and did not communicate. I felt they were very dishonest and had a lack of integrity in their work for doing something like this. We would never use them again and it's unfortunate that Home Depot works with them.

I have been going there for a very long time. I will recommend them to every one. It took six weeks to install it. That's because different companies were involved in it. The county came and inspected it several times because it has got a huge power box which was installed in the basement. This has to be connected to the gas line and this gas line had to be connected to the generator. In every step of installation either the county or the gas company or the contractors had to keep coming in. It works beautifully.

They were good. They stayed on schedule and I had a very pleasant experience with Home Depot and their contractors. The clean up was excellent and they were really great. I ended up going with them over other companies because they offered an excellent financing plan. Everyone throughout the entire process was helpful and great to deal with.

This was not a good experience. They turned everything over to subcontractors who were worse than clueless. Their idea of supporting a generator was to pour three bags of rocks and put the generator on top of that. They were not working up to code. They put the exhaust right next to the bedroom window.
Description of Work: They put in a smaller 20KW generator in our mother-in-laws apartment within our home. The work took a week.

Home Depot gave me a very hard time. These guys came in and measured the areas for the doors. When they arrived, the doors were not the right size. They did fix the problem on the spot, but they gave me some trouble by making me think that it was going to take more time to have my new doors installed.

Our overall experience was good. The came out and took measurements and then replaced the old storm door with the new storm door. The spring on the storm door was defective, so they came back and replaced that a few months later. There was no additional charge.

WAS NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. HAD DIFFICULTY FROM BEGINNING TO END. HARD TO GET A SALES ASSOCIATE TO HELP YOU IN THE STORE. HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE DATE FOR THE INSTALL. WHEN THE DAY FINALLY CAME, THEY ONLY SENT TWO MEN TO INSTALL EVERYTHING. THEY COULDN'T CARRY THE CARPET UP THE STAIRS--I HAD PAID EXTRA TO HAVE 15' WIDE CARPET TO AVOID EXTRA SEAMS. THEY WERE THERE 9 HOURS! THEY WERE EXHAUSTED AND DIDN'T DO A VERY GOOD JOB. WHEN I COMPLAINED TO HOME DEPOT, I WAS TOLD, AND I QUOTE, 'WELL, MA'AM, YOU KNOW THEY DON'T WORK FOR HOME DEPOT.' WHAT???? I PAID HOME DEPOT $4,000!!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE HOME DEPOT'S CONTRACTORS.
