Craig Kinsler owns his own handymen service. He was initially contacted by another contractor do redo some painting that was botched by another "professional" painter. I was so impressed with his work that I asked him for an estimate on my front door. The front door had rotting wood and the estimates that I had gotten were scary (somewhere between $4000-10,000), this included one from HomeDepot. None of the guys giving me estimates wanted to repair the current door, they all claimed it needed to be replaced (including the side lights and the transom). The work he completed: He first replaced the wood on the door frame that was coming apart due to the way my husband had installed our storm door. He first took off the storm door, repaired the trim around the door, repaired the rotting wood outside the door, painted the inside and outside of the doors. I then asked him if he could also repaint the wood on the box window which is two stories high, the bay window, and repaint the vinyl windows shutters. He gave me an estimate to me for everything that was within our budget. The work was scheduled and he began within a week of our agreement. It took him two days to complete everything. One day for the replacement of the wood and reconstruction of the door frame, the wood around the door trim and he found some rotting wood underneath our wooden window box. The following day he came over to paint the inside/outside of the door and trim (both inside/outside). He painted the large window box and the bay windows and vinyl shutters. The result: One year after all the work was done. The door is still functioning correctly, no nail pops, the paint job was done expertly and made the house look fresh.
