My positive experience with this company began before I even interviewed them. We wanted to do a full house residing - capping, siding, and gutters. Bowie Siding and Roofing was not on our radar, particularly, until we mentioned to different friends what we were hoping to do. Their name was consistently given to us with positive feedback. We looked at four different companies to get estimates. One did not call us back. Of the other three, one was a very large regional company, and the other two are local to Bowie. Frankly, Bowie Siding and Roofing won us over in the interview/ estimate process, first because the owner took time - nearly two hours - to measure, evaluate, explain, and answer my many, many questions. He was knowledgeable and experienced. Their estimated price was reasonable - well lower than one other high quality local firm, and right in line with the large regional firm. And they were as good as their word. They stayed in communication with us, being up front that it was going to be several months before they could get to the house, and then letting us know the timetable as they had to wait for rain. The work was well done, and done quickly - about a week to do EVERYTHING external to my house - which looks great. The house has been warmer, too, because of the process they use to insulate behind the siding - my heating bills did go down a little this winter, though I had the thermostat up. They also cleaned up after themselves well. They were - and have been - responsive in dealing with two minor issues that have to do with external wiring work we were having done at the same time the siding was going up. In short, I've become one of the people who recommend them to my friends when I hear that they need home improvement work done. I am grateful for the work they did, and love the results. Could not be happier.

Very hard to schedule, kept putting it off, wanted them to inspect the work when finished never could get them over

Originally, I had contacted Bowie Siding & Roofing, Inc. at 301-262-7855 through Angie's messaging service on November 18, 2015 with my preferred dates to inspect and repair my roof. My home is only five years old so it was odd that I had a leak in the first place. They replied on November 19, 2015 and asked for my contact information and address which I provided on November 20, 2015.I had not heard from them and had to leave town through the December 17th I again reminded them on December 21, 2015 through the messaging service that I sent my information. I phoned them when I did not hear from them and got no answer. I was telephonically contacted and was told that a repairer was going to contact me on December 23rd or the 24th (that did not happen). However, it did rain on the 24th and while I did not expect anyone to come, I did not receive a call either way. The provider finally did call on December 26th and a contractor representing their company arrived on December 28, 2015.As you can see it took from November 19th to December 28th to pull the nail in my roof, inspect it and replace three vent covers. The gentlemen that arrived was very courteous and respectful. He offered to show the vent covers he replaced and the ones he used to replace the others. He told me what the problem was and how catching it prevented a much larger problem later.

They are very good at their job. They offer good prices, professionalism and their response time is excellent. They did an excellent job. I had a lot of component and will use them again as a matter of fact, they are going to put my windows in. Their quality was good, they didn't let me buy something that I really didn't need or couldn't afford. Their advice on color was very good than what I ready had. They are punctual.

I had to call them to verify they had come to the house and performed the inspection. Office staff not very cordial. Don't think I'd use them again.

Arrived promptly and finished worked quickly so I could get to work. I just wanted the falling section put back up for the winter, as I'm planning to replace all the gutters next spring/summer. Other companies didn't want the job because I guess it was "too small." Very good with communications.

They did an outstanding job. They were here bright and early. They came on time and they stayed until the work was finished. They advised me of everything that was needed through my home owners association. They waited for me to get approved on the shingles that I chose as they were different than the rest of the homes in my area. They kept the cost the same even though I waited and it was not the same material as the other homes.

They did a really good job on the work. They got all the insulation out (which was really nasty). The work was good.

The work went very well. The roofers knew what they were doing were honest; also provided a fair price. I know the price was fair because I got two esitmates for the job.

Bowie Siding & Roofing Inc. brought another subcontractor in to do the work. I ended up managing the job because Bowie wasn't really there. In the end, the subcontractor screwed up the job. He didn't put tape around the windows and caulking around the windows, as was specified, so the owner ended up sending his kids over here to tear it down and do it over. In the end, it was good. He ended up firing the subcontractor. But he fixed the job. It's not like I got ripped off. He seemed pretty honest and straightforward. I kept telling the subcontractor he wasn't doing it right. I think he was having some trouble with the contractor, maybe myself and intentionally messed the job up. That was a nightmare. Fortunately, Bowie Siding was honest. His sons did a good repair job. But if I hadn't been on top of it, it would have been a disaster.

Bowie Siding and Roofing was excellent. I called since I had a concern about possible damage caused to my roof during the installation of cables for satellite television. The owner promptly returned my call and referred me to his son performing the service calls that day. He came out the same day and inspected the roof and even returned two days later after a large rain storm to ensure that there was no evidence of roof damage. They were prompt, honest and respectful. They will be my first call for any future roofing or siding work.

I am completely satisfied. Their estimate was lower then the 5 others I received. They did excellent work and cleaned up well, timely also.

They fixed a persistent leak over our kitchen that 3 other roofers would not / could not address because the previous roofers could not find any obvious cause of where the leak originated from. Bowie Siding and Roofing devised a plan and their fix solved the problem. They did a great job!!

Every thing went well ,Bowie Siding and Roofing called me after I e-mailed them I explained the problem and someone came over in two days and explained how the problem would be solved I agreed and they came back that weekend and fixed the problem. I do think using Angies list was a plus since these people were better than I could have found on my own. It was very helpfull. I would use them again

So far, the siding strip has made it through several storms so I guess it was a good job.

My husband and I were recently married and he moved to New Jersey. He owns a home in Maryland that needed quite a bit or repairs before we could sell or rent it. I was also expecting a baby in February so he did not want to be away doing work in Maryland, so we had to figure out where to get help from. I had a great experience with Angie's List when I needed work done in NJ so we signed up for the Maryland area and found Bowie's Siding and Roofing, Inc. It was very difficult for my husband to have work that he would normally do himself done by contractors, so I wasn't sure how this relationship would work. We were beyond pleased with how responsive their company was to our calls and any questions or concerns we had. They are a family run business and the daughter of the owner was an absolute pleasure to work with. They were great. The price was reasonable. They did a great job and were very professional.

I didn't spend anything except my deductible, because it was due to the natural causes of the weather. We had an earthquake; it kind of loosened things on the side of the house and it had to be replaced. They did excellent work. The person who came out explained everything what he was doing to me. He gave me a good cost before I made a selection. He was just very helpful. They cleaned up everything and there was no nails left on the ground, they were excellent. I had gotten a few estimates, and they were real below what people had asked. He kept checking back with me, and he even helped me out with the insurance. I had to go to my insurance, and he was very helpful in telling me what to do because it wasn't something that I was familiar with. Whenever I called him, he was available. They were a really good company and I was very pleased with them. He was professional when I had to keep calling about appointments, and also the people in his office were professional. I think he worked out of his home; I actually even went over there and met his wife. They were complete strangers before this started. I would use them again in the future.

Overall, this was a poor experience. Matter of fact, I would say RUN AWAY from this company as fast as you can. Most of the good comments I see on Angie's List are for small jobs or short-term jobs that do not need consistent effort or a long time frame. We have held off reviewing this company because it has taken us a long time to collect our thoughts on our job. In the beginning, this firm's salesman, Chris, did a good, responsive job selling us the deal (although I must warn you that the insulation that most siding firms want to sell you do not provide a great deal of R value and really are not of much consequence in utility savings). When the job started, my husband took a day off work be there to get the job started off properly. We should have been alarmed when the crew did not show up as promised in the morning. They showed up in the afternoon, saying they did not want to get started then because they all wanted to attend a sporting event and would show up in the morning. Great! Dollars of leave flushed away! When they did finally get started, they worked fairly hard, but the job progressed slowly. There is one disadvantage of dealing with a "family-owned" company--they have a small, 3 man crew, who do not have the ability to call in other people to cover for them or to call upon when the weather goes bad and they need to get a job finished. It appears the siding was done o.k., but the gutters are so low in their final, lowest curve that they do not drain well. When they felt finished with the job, they wanted to be paid immediately, before my husband had come home from work to inspect the work or we had determined if there was anything else we needed to have done. The owner of the business sent his son over (a member of the crew) to collect. I work at home and had started work when he came to the door. I told him that we had not inspected the job and would get with them for payment just as soon as we had. He told me that I could quit what I was doing and inspect it right then, leaving my client (who was a child) sitting alone and losing time paid for by their parent to do so. When told him I could not do that, he insisted that I would. He called my cell phone, my home home and banged on the door extremely loudly, all at once, for 15-20 minutes. When my husband arrived home and was informed of the situation, he said he would inspect the job when the sun was up and would get back immediately thereafter. Apparently that was not good enough. The crew member called his father, the owner of the company, who called and left the most chillingly threatening message I have ever received, stating among other things, that we had better pay right then. My husband finally resorted to calling the salesman, telling him to resolve this situation or we would have to call the police. My clients were so scared by this situation they told me they wanted to leave by the back door and go to their car through a route in the woods in order to not be harmed by these people. Finally, Chris the salesman resolved that we could inspect the job and pay on a certain day agreed upon by all. We did find some things we did not like, but when a member of the crew came by to change these things, I had to endure a prolonged lecture before every change, concerning how many jobs they do in the area and how nobody else had ever registered any complaints. (This is not born out by any ratings I have seen for them. See Checkbook Magazine.) I suppose these lectures were to make me feel like a silly, picky woman, when I had neighbors (male) come over, who had siding done recently come over to look at the job. They picked up these items that needed to be changed. The crew member even chided me for going down the street to look for houses that had the items done the way informed people had stated they should be done. Overall, my husband and I am embarrassed at ever having dealt with these people. We entirely redid the outside of our home (roof, windows) in 2011 and had chosen such great contractors for these other jobs.

Everything was great from top to bottom. Starting with the salesman/estimator Chris. Chris came to my home gave me a very accurate estimate for all the things I wanted done. I had the trim work and gutters done first and it looks great. The gentlemen who performed the work were very good and professional. Once the trim and gutters were done a different crew came to install the windows and ridge vent. Again all the workers were very professional and performed a great job.

Called office. It was a busy period after a severe storm. A week later an estimator and crew showed up, since there was a break in the weather, and they were in the neighborhood. Performed the work on the spot. They were done within 30 minutes. Informed me that there was a lot of moss on the roof and recommended a zinc strip. I intend to have that and some other work done in spring.
