Description of Work: Provided a list of small items to take care of around the house |- Replace doorbell (completed. However only worked for 2 weeks) |- Mailbox repair Not completed |- Replace Microwave light (was this even really as task) |- Install closet organizer system (paid for 2 guys for 4 hours on Angies list. Home Depot estimates 2 WOMAN can do this in 4 hours. However I paid for 8 hours of Handyman work from 2 alleged HANDYMEN? Upon further review the closet was installed backwards which makes the clothes hang very awkward in the closet) Closet is not a walk in. One wall 56" long. |- Repair Garbage disposal (flipped switch twice and told me I need a new one?) | |The guys that came out were 2 young guys. No complaints with the guys per say as I think this is just the company structure to sell Handy Man services from not overly qualified staff that will result in more hours required and poor quality. | |The company did not call to see if I was satisfied with the services performed. Nor did I call to complain. |

Description of Work: They offered really great prices, but quality of work/materials was lacking (hence the great price). I wanted to work with them because of the reviews...however no such luck for me. Let me start with the good...i wanted crown molding added and it was phenomenally completed and so was one door frame. The contractor even got some of the spackle from a previous hack job (not BHI) off my brand new cabinets. |I wanted the front of my kitchen door framed. They simply added the frame. No smoothing or sanding of the previous material. One side of frame is cut above the base molding, therefore not creating a uniform look throughout the kitchen. The material for my cabinet that I provided for them to use was completely demolished. More than enough was provided, but I can even use the remainder. I had them add a ceiling cap and it was sloppily placed. I also had a floor border placed to separate the kitchen from the dining area. The border wasn't supported properly, hence it broken in two weeks. In addition, the flimsy wood they used, you can tell they only applied one coat of stain when it clearly needs two along with a sealant. I've attempted to contact them, but no response.

+ 0 moreIt was very good. The scheduling worked really well and they were able to accommodate some special requests of ours. The work was all done to a very high degree of craftsmanship. We had to push a little harder to get them to use some lower cost materials providers so that took a little extra effort on our part to get them to be more competitive pricewise but in the end, they accommodated all of our requests so it worked out.

One of the main reasons I chose Bowie Home Improvement is while the owner was visiting my property to assess the work to be done, he offered alternative solutions to what I had in mind and pointed out issues that I would have to be prepared for. For instance, I thought I wanted a 5 foot wall removed. Bill explained all of the contingencies - like we wouldn't know if the wall was load bearing until demolition started - and what to do if it was - and how the existing wood flooring would be patched. He suggested making the wall a 1/2 wall, etc. He was willing to do the work, just wanted to manage my expectations. The other sales reps I interviewed for the job seemed to be "yes" men to whatever I wanted without explaining the surprises we may find along the way. Thanks to Bill's input I made an educated decision to leave the wall untouched. Work took 2 days to complete. Men arrived on time and quickly prepared the work areas to protect my property. Workers sought my input at decision points rather than assuming what I wanted. They left the house as clean as when they arrived. Workmen were professional, personable and knowledgeable. Our contract called for me to do patching after a light fixture was moved. But they did the patch work at no extra charge I rated the price B because it was a little higher than the other estimates I got. But I was willing to pay the premium to work with someone I trusted.
Description of Work: Built a kitchen pantry. Replaced a toilet. Installed light fixtures and other smaller tasks.
