I got a quote from them for $925 to install 3 - 1/2 HP garage door openers with MyQ and Battery Backup. I went with them because they were lower that the $450 per opener quote I got from Home Depot. AFTER they installed the openers she tried to say she quoted me $925 each. When I tried to talk to her about it and tell her I would have never done it for $2,800 when I had quotes of $1,200 - $1,450, she began to scream over the phone that I was crazy to expect them for that price and said she was removing the openers and hung up the phone on me. She then told her installer that she would fire him if he put the old openers back after he removed the ones they had installed. By the way. Afterwards I ordered 3 - 1 1/2 HP Garage Door openers with MyQ and Battery backup from Home Depot for $395.00 each installed, so I guess I wasn't so crazy about the price after all. Completely dishonest business.
Description of Work: I was to have 3 garage door openers installed.

He also gave me an estimate on some new rails. The work was fine. The workers that came out were good. I would tell a friend that I didn't really feel they went above and beyond, and also felt that they didn't really address my garage door issues. But they did do what they said they were supposed to.
Description of Work: They came out to inspect our garage door, as well as some lubrication.

They charged me $65 for a service call which was supposed to be free. They pushed me to try to buy a new garage door, which another provider said was unnecessary. When I called them back to come fix the door, I told them I was going to use someone else. He told me that he was the person, but he wasn't. He lied to me and took money from me that he wasn't supposed to. I spoke to the manager and she said that the charge correct. They were very harsh with me and would compromise.

The service, office, and installation people were professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. The materials are of very good quality.
Description of Work: I was having problems with my garage door opener and the actual opening and closing of the garage door. Beltway Doors came out the afternoon of the day I called and inspected the opener, track, and door. They found that the door itself was splitting and due to this, the tracking wasn't smooth which put extra stress on the springs and the opener itself. I'm quite sure the door was original to the house (30+ years old) and I remember the opener being replaced over 10 years ago. They thoroughly walked me through what was going on and made various recommendations on what could be done. The equipment needed to be ordered but it arrived within 2 weeks and they worked with me to schedule a convenient time (a Saturday) for the work to be done. I've used them in the past and will use them in the future.

I was overcharged by $300. You be the judge. I will not be using them again and I will make sure none of my friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc., ever spend a penny with Beltway Garage Doors. There are other good, reputable companies out there.
Description of Work: On 31 Oct 2012, Beltway came to my house to replace a faulty garage door opener keypad. The repairman replaced the keypad and 2 remotes, but did not replace the actual garage door opener. The total charge was $353. Three months later (8 Feb 2012) we experienced problems with the actual garage opener unit and called Beltway to service it. Beltway came to my house and replaced the garage door opener unit. The repairman explained that the keypad/remotes that Beltway sold me on 31 Oct were not compatible with the new opener unit, and replaced the keypad and remotes again. The total price for the opener, keypad and remotes was $450. So I paid a total of $800 to replace my garage door opener, keypad and 2 remotes, which I think is extremely excessive. The unit that Beltway sold me is sold on-line at various places for about $150 to $200. I realize that installation is a big part of the cost, but again, $800 for what I received doesn’t make sense. Another thought is that the first time Beltway came to my house in October, the repairman could have informed me that for an extra $100, he could replace the opener unit which would have made sense considering the unit was over 10 years old. That would have precluded the need for the 2nd house call, resulting in the additional charges. I called your Virginia office (703-255-0100) at least 5 times asking for some relief on this bill. The person I spoke to each time (Lily) told me she would investigate and get back to me. So far, I have not received any response to my inquiry. I sent a letter to Beltway on 28 Feb complaining about the overcharge, and asking for a partial refund. No response has been received.

Buyer Beware. Website says "Voted #1 by thousands of satisfied customers." I didn't look closely at their current poor customer ratings from all sources before buying. My mistake. They didn't honor a discount coupon from their website, despite mentioning it to them three times on the phone and in a letter to the manager. I always give a business providing poor customer service an opportunity to correct their mistakes before going online to publish a rating. When I phoned the office, I was told if the manager didn't return my call after a few days, I should call back. I told that person I don't call twice because of their poor customer service. I then sent a letter to the manager with a copy of the coupon and asked for the credit. No response. I also asked for more detailed information on the garage door, to qualify for the tax credit. No response. I wasted a lot of my time trying to get the manager to be responsive, to no avail.

Did the work at night and was an awkward time, not by design as these things always seem to happen at a bad time. They were friendly all the time. Initially I thought it would be one person but he called another fellow in to help, so the charge was more for the extra labor. I am still not sure if this was necessary, but I was eager to get the job done so agreed. Maybe I should not have?? The work was completed in the amount of time he first said it would take and my garage door is still working just fine.
Description of Work: Replaced garage door springs and several other parts which they felt were faulty or damaged. Was a semi-emergency.

Excellent. I came home to find the old spring had broken off, called the service department to see if it was possible to get someone out to fix the broken spring at around 1:30. By 3:00 Daryl was out to inspect, quoted me a price to repair all old parts, compared to a new door. Explained reasons why a new door might be a better investment without pressure, as he could fix the old door same day. Discussed that I was unable to be home to have new door installed unless it could be done the next day. He called his service department, they worked out a schedule to fit me in the next day. Called for time and was told they had reworked the schedule so I would be midday in case there were problems. Roberto arrived midday to remove and install - which he did in less than three hours, including sweeping out the garage and completing task in a electrical storm. The door looks great! I am glad I took Daryl's advice!
Description of Work: Took out old door and parts, installed new door and parts. Removed old door and even swept the garage floor before leaving!
