NANCY THORNETT ASSOC INC

In May 2010 we entered into a contract with Nancy thornett Associates for kitchen cabinets approaching $100,000 in value. Thornett stated that a 50% down payment was necessary for the manufacturer, Rutt, to begin construction the cabinets. This down payment was made to Thornett in May with a promise of cabinets no later than September 2010. The cabinets did not arrive in September. Thornett claimed Rutt was behind in their manufacturing and that they, Thornett, would get have a delivery date for us by the close of business. Throughout October Thornett continued to say the problem was with Rutt. In Late October we contacted Rutt at their factory and at their corporate headquarters and they refused to talk to us referring us back to Thornett. On several occasions Thornett said the cabinets would be delivered that week or the next and nothing would come. In December we gave notice of contract cancellation and hired an attorney to recover our down payment. Suddenly, thornett took our contract seriously, Rutt acknowledged it had an order and most of the cabinets were delivered in February. We still do not have 2 of the glass shelves nor the front of our warming drawer and Thornett will not respond to phone calls nor emails. They have been paid in full.

I paid a retainer for the design work for our new kitchen on 5/14/2009. Once the design was approved I paid a deposit on 6/29/2009 and contracted for the production of my new kitchen. My kitchen was complete and ready for delivery on 9/30/2009. We were not ready for delivery in October but promised that our kitchen could be held in storage. We needed to give them a 10-14 day lead time to deliver. I was told by Nancy Thornett Assoc that I was required to fully pay the balance even though our kitchen could not be delivered until a later date. On or near 3/9/2010 our contractors contacted Nancy Thornett Assoc as they were ready to install the kitchen and could accept delivery in a week to ten days. Week after week we waited for our kitchen. We called every week and were told, "it's on the truck" or "it's due on Wednesday" or "it will be here at the end of the week". Still no kitchen! After 8 weeks I contacted the manufacturer and was told that he could not release our kitchen because Nancy Thornett Assoc had not paid him. After over ten weeks of struggling to get our kitchen it finally arrived 5/14/ 2010. During the installation process our contractors noticed that a couple of the cabinet doors were not made correctly and we had to have the oven/microwave/warming drawer panel remade because the configuration was not correct. The manufacturer was immediately notified and the parts were re-ordered. We were told it would take @ 4 weeks for delivery and should be delivered by the end of the month. Ok, as we weren?t moving into our new house until 7/31/2010. Today is 9/2/2010 and we still do not have the items needed to complete our kitchen. We have been living in our house for over a month and we do not have the full use of our kitchen. The worst part is that we cannot cook as we need the oven panel before our contractor can install these items and the electrician can hook up our cooking appliances. We continue to be told "your shipment is being delivered in one or two days". Still no delivery! Once again, I called the manufacturer on Thursday 8/26 and was told, "We cannot release your items because we have not been paid by Nancy Thornett Assoc." On Tuesday, 8/31 I personally walked into the showroom to see if I could speak with Tracy Thornett (my contact) but she was not there. I did however speak with the owner, Nancy Thornett, and she claims she knew nothing about our ongoing problems but would look into it and call me back. (I find it quite interesting that she was unaware of the seriousness of our situation as I left messages for her at work and I copied her on much of the correspondence). Nancy Thornett never called me back. The amount of time, energy and money we've spent chasing down our kitchen is appalling. The lack of professionalism or concern for their customers is unacceptable. I hope that nobody else suffers from their unethical business practices. BEWARE!!!
