+ 0 moreBased on positive feedbacks posted on Angies list, I contacted "Mr. Handyman". I asked for someone to come to fix my kitchen tile on 11/11/14. We agreed on a time and day for their visit. They just did not show up and left a message to reschedule the day after. I called back to let them know that they could not just show up anytime they wanted. I asked them to call me in advance to check the day and time when I would be available....they never called me back. This is very unprofessional. I am very surprised that this company is still on Angies list. When employees treat customers that way, I am not particularly optimistic with the quality of their work. I will contact somebody else for the job.

+ -1 moreHighly recomended. I came away extremely impressed by the professionalism and attitude of everyone at Mr. Handyman ? not just compared to similar services, but to any company. Though nobody's fault, an unforeseen circumstance arouse that had me as a not-so-happy customer. Even though they didn't have to and it wasn't their fault, they want above and beyond to ensure I was a satisfied ? including coming back at no additional charge to continue work outside of the original scope. Special kudos to Dave for working through what started as a difficult situation and finding a fair compromise and James for working with a smile on his face and going above and beyond to make us happy customers. Honest companies are tough to find, and I will highly recommend Mr Handyman of South Montgomery County to anyone who asks. Top notch.

Description of Work: Repair broken cupboard hinges; replace rotted railroad ties in yard; replace piece of drywall interior & paint; exterior wood siding molding: a few pieces were deteriorating- he replaced & painted them; caulking. Exterior wood fence gate required some repair, too.

Description of Work: The handymen installed a microwave, which required having a shelf installed too. We had several other tasks around the house. in the morning, we showed up all our little tasks plus the microwave installation and he approximated 4 hours for all of them. however, he took his sweet time measuring and remeasuring, going to home depot across the street took him over 50 minutes, he parked in the farthest location and brought things slowly, all to kill time and only got one task done for 4 hours. we could get microwave installation for $80 with home deport, the only reason we hired this handyman company was to have a shelf installed in addition. for the little piece of wood and metal the company charged us $126 without providing home depot received. Paying ~500 to have a microwave installed is not acceptable and I do not recommend this company. Their prices are extremely high. I would have had not problem if they got this task done in 1-2 hours or had done other little tasks we had in the house during the same time.

+ 5 moreI purchased the four-hour handyman special because I needed two tasks to be completed. Dave King confirmed the appointment. Alex arrived as scheduled and got right to work. He quickly replaced the kitchen faucet. Then painted the soffit and fascia with time to spare. So I asked him to get the hardware he needed and secure a porch railing. Since he worked more than four hours and purchased some parts, the total amount was higher than the special. He accomplished more than I expected and did excellent work at a reasonable price. I recommended Mr. Handyman to my neighbor and would hire Alex again.
Description of Work: Replaced kitchen faucet. Painted soffit and fascia. Secured porch railing.

+ 1 moreThe work was to satisfy a home inspection punchlist prior to sale. All of the items were fixed properly except for one item, which was to fix the drain line of a laundry room sink. I had to hire a plumber to come in and fix this. I will say that the buyers were particularly picky.
Description of Work: Some plumbing, caulked a skylight, reattached insulation, reattached an access panel to the attic.

+ 3 moreMr Handyman was able to give us an appointment within a few days of our initial call. Alex did a great job of replacing and upgrading weather stripping on a door and correcting the hang of the door so that it would open/close more easily. He found a way to fix the door pulls on the foyer closet. He went on the roof to inspect the heater cord we use in a gutter to prevent ice dams. Alex was on time, had several good suggestions for our trouble spots, worked diligently, and did a good job of cleanup after completing the work. He was very friendly and easy to work with.
Description of Work: installed new weather stripping on door, installed window screens, repaired door handles on foyer closet, checked on heater cord in gutter. After assessing the job, Alex purchased the necessary material (at our request).

This is a very nice company to work with, but they are pricey...even with the discounts they offer here on Angie's List. I wish they would offer a bigger discount to repeat customers. My neighbors have seen the truck in the parking lot outside my house and also contacted them for work.

+ 1 moreEveryone was very friendly and accommodating with scheduling. The tech was there on time and was professional. He did a great job with reattaching the vinyl column outside the front door, with painting and with tightening the bottom of the section of stair railing that was loose to the floor. (The railing has vertical iron bars, a few of which screw into the ground, which were loose.) The technician also sanded down and refinished the wooden (horizontal) top of the railing. This was a lot of work and in general it's good, but the wood still feels very rough to the touch in some places, which is too bad.
Description of Work: ***NOTE: Above $200 was in addition to the 4 hours of Handyman Service I purchased previously.*** Provider sanded down and refinished wooden railing of 3 story staircase; reattached a vinyl decorative "column" outside next to my front door; and painted a wall.

+ 1 moreThe technician, James, did an excellent job. He was thorough and paid a lot of attention to detail. He was nice and took pride in his work. Overall, we loved the work he did to improve our bathrooms. In both bathrooms, the previous home-owner put up some ugly sticky tile sheets over both shower walls. James took all that down and put up cement board, then new tile (that we picked out), with a row of fancier tiles and grouted. Then, he also repainted each bathroom, replaced the baseboard and painted the door trim. Two thumbs up for a job well done.
Description of Work: Mr. Handyman of South Montgomery County worked on renovating both of our small bathrooms. They put new tile in the shower and painted the walls.

James had to do several small cuts and trim installs to blend the different pieces together. He asked the right questions and made several really good suggestions. + 0 moreThey charge $158 the first hour and about $25.00 every quarter hour after the first hour. You cannot pay for less than an hour. Everything went fine. It was a pleasure working with the owner to arrange for someone to come to my home. The price was steep; however, the owner has clearly invested money in equipping his employees with an array of equipment. The towel bars that I ordered from Home Depot online were too long for my door. The man sent to my home was able to cut the towel bars in his truck using equipment that I seriously doubt most handyman services have. In the past when I have hired a handyman, a man with a toolkit shows up and the toolkit is all he has. In sum, the price is high but this company will take care of you.
Description of Work: Installed two towel bars in bathroom. Put together a small, stand-alone bookcase. Install a hinge-pin door stop.

I had seriously underestimated the amount of time needed to accomplish my job so it cost me a lot more than I thought it would. There was just one man and he was very knowledgeable and pleasant. He knew what he was doing and worked steadily, but slowly. I think he was a little pricey.
