+ -1 moreOur inspector Andrew arrived on time and conducted a thorough walkthrough. He encouraged me to join him through the process and ask questions as we went along. While the report was very detailed, I highly recommend anyone conducting an inspection join the inspector during the process. I learned a lot of little things and tips for future care that I wouldn't have learned otherwise - including low cost ways of preventing some problems down the road.
Description of Work: Mid-Atlantic Inspection Services provided a Walk-through Observation before we put an offer on a property. This provider was recommended by our realtor.

+ -1 moreMy realtor gave me a list of home inspectors. I joined Angie's List to help me to choose. This company got in touch with me right away, the inspector was punctual and professional.
Description of Work: My condo was inspected as part of a new home purchase. I had never bought a home of my own before and the inspector was wonderful because he took me all around the house and taught me everything I needed to know. I asked a million questions and he answered every one of them.

+ -1 moreTo begin, this was my first home purchase and my only inspection, so I have nothing to compare this inspection with any other. We chose Mid-Atlantic on the recomendation of our realtor. The inspector arrived on time and was very friendly throughout the inspection. He was happy to answer any of our questions, no matter how minor. He seemed very familiar with the type of house we were buying. We received our report the next day and it was a detailed report with lots of pictures and information. The inspector found some significant problems with the roof and we used that information to negotiate a subsidy with the seller.
Description of Work: Home inspection after our offer to buy a home was accepted.

Description of Work: The company did not perform the inspection of the condo we have purchased because the company refused to change its standard contract as we requested. The provision in question, which is often foisted on unsophisticated consumers, relates to costs and attorneys' fees. The provision in this particular contract would require the client to pay all costs and attorneys' fees to the firm if the client brings a claim against the company. As an attorney for many years, I would never sign a contract of any kind with such a provision. It bars the client from even bringing an action against the firm, and is contrary to the standard provisions in the contract on the website of the trade association which the firm cites in its contract. Further, it is contrary to American law, which does not require the loser in a lawsuit to pay the attorney's fees or costs of the victor. This firm's contract is worse because it requires payment regardless of the outcome of the client's claim.

+ -1 moreDo ask questions about everything that you may think may be a problem- NO MATTER WHAT
Description of Work: They arrived early and very professional explained every single inch of the house- the good and the not so good- He told us we can follow him and ask as many questions as needed. He showed us how things should be and what we needed to do to keep all appliances working good and for a long time. Report was sent the next day and pictures were sent with report. We were told what jobs had been done in the past and what was updated. We even got to see the attic and roof and explanined how and what to look for.

He did a fantastic job answering our questinon and going over everything in detail so we understand what needs to be done to the house now and in the future. The next morning we got a very well documented 41 page-report with clear pictures showing the major and minor summary of repairs needed. Overall we're very happy with the service and would highly recommend this company.
